Wait staff was outstanding. Secret raspberry sauce added an interesting touch to the sweet potato fries. Anyone within 100 miles of this place should hop on there preferred method of transportation and get here ASAP. The spicy burger tingled the senses on my tongue to the perfect satisfactory experience. The finest cloth on the pool tables was a bonus.

Excellent food, they should give the chef a raise. Nice ambience, good local brews. Found them on Unilocal as I was headed home on 64 from a road trip to Wisconsin. I’ll be back.

We went here on Friday, what a cool little home town pub. We went for a late lunch early dinner and they seemed to be pretty kid friendly since we had a 3 year old with us. They offered him bug juice(kool-aid). He loved the name of his juice lol. The fried pickle spears were great and loved the chilli cheese fries too. The wife had the breakfast burger. She said it was great but was full because she filled up on the appatizers. I had the burger with the Italian sausage on it, I liked it with the provolone cheese on it better then pepperjack. I liked how for a side I was able to get a side salad without costing extra. All in all next time in town we will go back. It would be nice if they offered WiFi, so I could have wrote this review and checked in on Friday instead of waiting. Just saying, but it won’t stop me from coming back.

Great atmosphere and friendly Staff. Food was decent, but not as good as I hoped for. The french dip was a little over done and chewy. The rueben was good, a large portion. The sauerkraut was a little sweet and the onion rings also a little sweet for my taste. Although overall still 4 stars; mostly for the staff, atmosphere and family orientation.

Awesome restaurant. Great food and an awesome atmosphere. The nachos are great! We take all of our out of town visitors here. We have been here multiple times ourselves and have never been disappointed. I would highly recommend it.

This is the place to go if you happen to be driving through Clifton Forge. Located in a cool historical part of town, Jack Mason’s has a nice local flare to it. The food is above average and the service is friendly and helpful. I definitely think what sets this place apart is the atmosphere though. They have a lot of knick knacks hanging on the wall and plenty for you to look at. There are nice wood floors and dark wood booths as well. If you’re interested in grabbing a beer and just hanging out, they have a game room with darts and pool. The game room is set away from the dining space so you don’t feel like you are getting in the way of the patrons there for a meal. They also have a big mural on the back wall of CSX railcars, which a cool shout out to the railway station in Clifton Forge. For my meal, I got the chicken sandwich, which came with some really good pesto mayo. The chicken was grilled well and had plenty of flavor to it. The standout for me meal wise were the sweet potato fries and the dipping sauce that came along with them. The dipping sauce is a sweet homemade sauce and feels like you’re having a dessert. We also ordered some fried green beans for the table. If you’re going to get an appetizer, I would definitely recommend this one. They were crunchy without being over done and the ranch that it came with was a great complement. As I said, the service was great. Our waitress was helpful and attentive. All of our food came out quickly and our waitress stayed and talked with us a couple of times. Everyone seemed friendly including the other patrons. They have an okay beer selection. Not many craft beer options, but they do have a few. I got the Northern Lights by Starr Hill which is a VA brewed beer. This is a good option for food or drink whether you are with your family or you just want to grab a drink with some friends. The staff is friendly and welcoming and the atmosphere is fun and laid back.

Went here with my husband while passing through and it is a must! Everything is delicious. Especially their spicy burger and their fish and chips we haven’t had one thing that we haven’t loved. The staff and atmosphere is awesome. It’s a must eat even if its a tad bit out of the way.

The food is really good sometimes especially the steaks. Despite the food the two owners are terrible to deal with. I don’t think they really care about their customers at all…

Stopped here for lunch two-thirds of the way through a twenty hour drive. The food and service were a great break from the road. I’ll plan on stopping by when I pass through again.

Great place, fish tacos and sweet potato fries are excellent. I always have good service here. Usually about 7 beers on tap… My wife and I try to time it to where we hit this place at least once on our voyage from Lexington KY to VA Beach to see the fam.

Stopped here passing through and were pleasantly surprised to find this jewel in Clifton Forge. The fish was great and we loved the sweet potato fries. Obviously it’s a tavern but they were more than accommodating to my kids. It’s a couple miles off I-64, but well worth the detour.

Really enjoyed our dinner here. Wife had excellent fish and chips — tasted just like I remember from Street vendor in London. My turkey club was very satisfying. The sweet potato fries came with a raspberry yogurt dipping sauce which was amazing. The local Vienna Lager brewed not far from the place was also good. Wonderful service and casual atmosphere. Game room looked fun too.
My M/C had regional meetings in Clifton Forge and about the only place that had a room large enough for us was at Jack Mason’s. We pulled up to the front and started parking our bikes. One of the waitresses came out to warn us that we were in a handicapped spot. That was our introduction to the friendliness of the folks at Jacks. We moved the bikes to the other side of the street and were welcomed not only by the staff, but the locals that were at the bar. We were shown to their meeting room(which doubled as a game room) and the waitress was getting our coffee orders while we were stripping off the cold weather riding gear. Yeah, we ride in winter too. She was attentive, friendly, and helpful. Most of us ordered the Spicy Tavern Burger, lean ground beef with hot Italian sausage mixed in(I added pepper jack cheese for just a little more kick) and fries. I’m stealing the recipe for that burger! It was fantastic, juicy, spicy and hit the spot! After our meeting we did partake of beer(cold Budweiser!) and the lady who I believe was the owner told us that we might want to take the bikes back to the Red Lantern Inn(review upcoming) and walk back before we had too many. Small town… small town cops was how she put it. We understood completely. We took her advice and returned about 10 minutes later. The place was still semi-busy, but again, service was outstanding. We are planning another ride down that way just to visit Jack Mason’s Tavern!

Stopped here after a long train ride south on Amtrak(it’s directly across the street). The ambiance is more than I could hope for at most bars in far bigger cities(like Philadelphia, where I live). The game room has a pool table, some arcade games, darts. The floors and accoutrements are furnished of real wood. What I liked best about the place was its’ attention to detail. The waitress refilled empty beverages and brought out our food without interrupting our conversation seamlessly… the bar is stocked… the stuff behind the bar all has a story and everyone seems to know it. The burger was as good as any I’ve ever paid a lot more money for in much larger cities. In short, this place is the little bar that could… and I would like to see it continue to flourish long into the future(so that selfishly I could lunch here with mom every time I come down to visit).
