A truly special vintage store, both in the variety and abundance of its wares and the helpfulness of its staff, particularly its former owner, who has a new store in Tremont I’m excited to visit. I first came to Suite Lorain when I was searching for a sample for my prom dress. I found the perfect sample at Suite Lorain – a yellow, 1950s affair, that was stained and had torn tulle. The owner deducted about ten dollars from the price and assured me the dress would make a fine study for the seamstress re-creating it in my size(and in blue). She was right. On this trip, I also perused the other racks which well-represented the last 80 years in fashion. While rifling through the jackets, I stumbled upon a beautiful forest green hunting-jacket style blazer with black trim. And who designed it? Why, Yves Saint-Laurent! And it was only marked at 45 dollars. This is a kind of vintage shopping urban myth. A fairy tale. I scooped up that perfect jacket and it is still one of my favorite pieces in my closet. Over in housewares, there are reasonably priced furniture sets in mint condition, as well as hundreds of kitschy knick-knacks. You could easily spend 2 – 3 hours browsing Suite Lorain and still not see everything. Clearly, Suite Lorain is a true treasure trove and if you have a penchant for vintage fashion and are in the Cleveland area, you MUST visit.

Suite(now Sweet) Lorain is not closed! No trip home to Cleveland OH is complete without a visit to SL. Under new ownership, the shop has been totally rearranged, with sections devoted to furniture, cocktails, the kitchen, a hat salon and, of course, an extensive selection of men’s and women’s vintage clothes. If you need a wedding present for some cool cats, you will find it here. If you’re looking to freshen up your retro wardrobe, you won’t be disappointed. What are you waiting for – just go!

I don’t even know where to begin with this review. Redwin has really turned this place around. I am an avid vintage scavenger and this is THEBEST organized vintage shop I have EVER been in! The selection and quality of his items will blow your mind! Redwin and his staff are incredibly friendly and so helpful. The shop offers very cool and functional displays that are so original. There is a hat bar equipped with stools, mirrors and more hats than you can imagine! I took some friends there on a Saturday afternoon and we had a blast! Anyone who doesn’t check out this place is really missing a true treasure of Cleveland.

This place is amazing… they have everything. Picked up an awesome dining set on the cheap. Love it!

I live in Minnesota, but I married a man from Cleveland — so when we make the biannual pilgrimage to see my in laws, I always insist we make a day trip to Suite Lorain. The first time my husband brought me here I thought I’d died and gone to heaven. I’ve purchased clothing and jewelry and pine for everything else. I hope they’re there every year I go back, I really adore the place.

Love going here even when I don’t have money which is more often then not. All the other reviews are spot on, but had to add another love to the heap.

Love, love, LOVED this place. This is the kind of store I wish existed here in NYC. Everything around you is for sale, but it’s a decent sized place so you don’t feel claustrophobic in it. The owners clearly enjoy what they do. While I was there one was discussing with their friends how they come in in the morning and create new outfits/themes for the mannequins. My friend and I were still in there a few minutes before closing at 5pm and we heard the woman talking to another customer and kindly ushering him out, so my friend goes up to her and apologizes that we’re taking so long and we’ll be out in a minute and she says to her, «Oh no don’t worry about that! Take all the time you need. I know him and he’s a talker — if I didn’t get him out now, he’d never leave.» Ha! But the most important part of this store: THEYDON’T CHARGEYOURFIRSTBORNTOBUYSOMETHING. No, they are not thrift/Salvation Army prices — you are still paying for them to weed through the crap so you don’t have to, of which they do a fine job. However, these were some of the most reasonable vintage prices I’ve come across. And I am an annoying cheapskate who only orders off the fast food dollar menus because I simply don’t want to pay any more so that’s saying something. There was a gorgeous Russian princess winter coat for only $ 55 [too big for me, wah]. We bought tops and jewelry for about $ 15-$ 20 a piece. And there is even a dressing room! With doors! And out of the view of the public! [I feel this is necessary to mention since a) most vintage stores have no such thing or b) the ones that do consider«dressing rooms» as a curtain in the middle of the store that opens when a gnat flies by. I covet privacy]. Now if you’re not into clothes, the other half of the store is vintage… uh, stuff. Housewares, furniture, knick knacks, it basically looks like the contents of your parents’ 1970s apartments exploded, complete with your dad’s old Playboys. This side of the store is slightly more chaotic but equally fun to look through.

Like My Mind’s Eye, i came to the west side almost monthly to stop into this haven of hip. Did i just write that? The records are okay. The real treasures are the furniture, clothes and knick knacks. I’ve bought something from all those categories. The clerks(owners?) are very friendly. Even the exterior of the building is cool. I love the Goonies pirate ship-in a cave– full of gold dabloons feeling i get when i step in there. Truly unique. If only Ann Ramsay was there… or even Corey Feldman. You know what, i did see him! Outside selling bootleg dvd’s.

The best shop in the universe. Really, it’s like a wonderland and I can spend hours wandering about the aisles. Surprisingly, even like 15 years later, still totally awesome folks and prices!

Suite Lorain ranks among the very best vintage shops I have ever been to, coast to coast. This large«vintage department store» specializes in 1920s to 70s clothing, housewares, furniture, jewelry, books, and memorabilia. Don’t be dissuaded by the shoddy exterior. On the whole, their items are in excellent condition. Check out the shoe collection spanning every era of the 20th century. And here’s a secret: prices are very reasonable! I recently went looking for a vintage dress to wear to a wedding. I called the store and Wendy answered, even though Tuesday is the only day they are closed. Exemplary of exceptional customer service, she let me come into the closed store to look for the dress. I ended up not finding my dress, but left with two beautiful wool coats for a total of $ 85. I will sing the praises of Suite Lorain forever!
