I photographed a wedding at Old Oak yesterday and I was very dissatisfied with how things went. I was on site for 25 minutes before I found any of the church staff. When I did find someone on staff, I was greeted with a very cold «What are you doing here?» Once I explained that I was the photographer for the day, I was then given a list of things I wasn’t allowed to do. I don’t know if they have had bad experiences with photographers in the past, but I was very aware that I wasn’t welcome.

This was a nice place to have a wedding and reception. The ceremony was meaningful, and I thought the officiant did a good job of balancing the seriousness of the commitment and provided some light-​hearted comic relief.
The reception food was delicious. From the cheese spread during cocktail hour (nice selection of crackers and cheeses) to the actual food (ham and roast beef were tasty) to the desserts (cupcakes!). All of it was solid. The only downside to the place is that there wasn’t a ton of room to maneuver between the tables and chairs. Other than that, great venue!

I was married here in 2007 and had my reception in Helms Hall. I could not have asked for a more beautiful wedding! The food, the décor, and the ceremony were incredible!
