A friend recommended we stop there for a fast lunch on the way home from Helen, GA. There was hardly anyone else there and it took so long to get the menus that i had to go get them myself. Everyone else seemed to be OK with their food but none of them were foodies. I ordered the Pattie melt without bread/bun. I got a sorry looking plain beef patty on the plate alone. I asked where was the rest of the stuff and she took it back mumbling something about what the cook was thinking. She returned with the same patty with partially fried onions on it… nothing else. I asked her where were the 2 cheeses they had listed on the menu and she offered to take it back again. By then my friends were almost finished so I told her to forget it. She then brought me the bill for full price, never apologized or offered any discount. I had green beans with it and got Italian green beans from a can that tasted terrible. The beer was ice cold which was a real plus! The bathrooms were not clean.

I had the chicken Parmesan with a side of spaghetti for $ 12.95 and my husband had the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and black eyed peas for $ 7.95. It was very bland. What a waste of money. Very disappointing! We ended up getting a pizza on the way back to our cabin.

While passing through Cleveland, our family decided to stop at JW Reeds for lunch on a Sunday. Upon walking in the place was not crowded, and now I know why. Our food took almost one hour from the time we ordered until it was brought to our table — and we had the meat &2 vegetables, nothing fancy. The food was bland and not worth the price. Service was HORRIBLE. Approximately 30 minutes after we ordered we were brought 2 pieces of cornbread(we had 3 people) the server then took away that basket and disappeared to add another piece, which took 10 more minutes. I ordered fried chicken, pinto beans and mashed potatoes — nothing out of the ordinary. My family ordered about the same and our meal took ONEHOUR to be delivered to the table. During the time we were there two other families got up and walked out due to the delays(one more threatened to). The absolute WORST service I have experienced in some time, and the food was NOT worth the wait — very bland and tasteless. I had to add LOTS of salt & pepper to everything. A simple meal took a total of one hour, 15 minutes. Ridiculous. Definite 1 star, I would avoid this place at all costs, I know I will never set foot in there again.

Saved the day! We came to JW Reeds in Cleveland Ga after an awful experience at another local restaurant. We spoke with the owner about our group of about 10 – 12, and the need to grab a few drinks to socialize. Now this may seem trivial, but in Cleveland Ga this is next to impossible to do… it’s a dry city, that requires you to purchase food in order to grab a beer!!!(Stupid I know) but, the owner worked with our party, opened up the back room, served our party nicely, and absolutely saved the day for all of us! The staff was amazing, and the appetizers we ordered were hot, fresh, and on point! The establishment truly had the customers needs in mind, and delivered a hospitable evening for our group, which completely changed our minds about the city! Kudos to all of you!

I loved my fried trout, cabbage and green beans. Everyone at my table loved their meals. My grandson loves the Mashed potatoes and cornbread. Fried chicken was excellent and the pies were delicious. A must go.

Formerly known as MA gooches. .MA Gooch used to known for a great place to have pretty decent meat and vegetable dinner. the name has changed and they have added beer and wine and some steak and seafood dishes to the menu… the made to order seafood is pretty good. steaks aren’t bad either. the down fall is the meat and vegetables. .you can tell that it is all out of a can and poorly seasoned. I used to love their potato salad but had it yesterday and it now comes from a box. absolutely terrible… the glasses and silverware have a disgusting film on them . Wait staff are friendly and maybe with a little attention to detail and some food made from scratch they can bring it back to something worthwhile..

My wife and I stopped by for lunch today the wait staff was nice and helpful. The food on the other hand was somewhat less than expected someone forgot that salt is pretty important if you serve chicken & dumping all the meal was bland and tasteless I don’t plan to waste my time going there if there is an alternative.
