Gardner’s Market

They seriously make the best sandwiches I’ve ever put in my mouth! (And I’ve had some pretty dang good sandwiches). I try a new one every time I go. Very friendly staff too, but I would still go there if they were rude because the food’s so good :)

This is a fantastic place for sandwiches and sides. There were so many tempting options, but we finally settled on the Farmhouse and Chicken BLT sandwiches on grilled sourdough bread. Excellent flavors on very tasty bread. As you might expect from the name, lots of fresh vegetables!
The superfood salad was a bit sweet for my taste, but the Mediterranean salad was very good. I definitely recommend this restaurant!

Excellent sandwiches. Large portions. Very reasonable prices. Small local business. Games in the corner for some extra fun and a selection of groceries should you have a need. We’ll be back.

Average food. LONG waits. And if after 1 – 2 hours of waiting you ask politely how much longer it might be, you will just about get your head bit off. Call way ahead of you don’t want to wait 1 – 2 hours.

Wow… totally exceeded my expectations! I split with my sister the Broad St and Santa Fe hot sandwiches… both had excellent flavor with just a slight touch of heat that really worked.
My advice, can’t go wrong with the food but definitely try the flour-​less peanut butter chocolate chip cookie, so good! They will even warm it up if you ask :)

I love this place. It’s always such a calm, peaceful environment. The food is excellent, but the blackberry lemonade is truly what will rock your world.
Prices are reasonable. Depending on what you get, a meal may cost you $ 7 – 11. Service can be hit or miss — they are either very expedient in their food preparation or you could be left waiting for 45 minutes. The wait staff isn’t incredibly chatty, but I’ve always felt welcomed as a guest. And their food has never disappointed me.
Personally, I recommend the chicken BLT, but I’ve heard people rave over the chicken salad sandwich. To each his own.

We have been big fans of Gardner’s since we moved to Cleveland in 2002. The food has always been great.
The original owner did not seem friendly at first but the atmosphere and food was enough to entice us to keep returning. Due to family issues we had not been to Gardner’s since 2012. Last week my wife and I decided to go back to Gardner’s. I have to say the new owners bring a new vibrant and friendly energy. They made just the right amount of changes to make the business more efficient but still maintained the original vibe we enjoyed on our first visit in 2002. When you enter Gardner’s you feel as if you are in a café in New York City. It’s such a nice escape from the mundane food scene here in Cleveland.

I am such a fan of sandwiches! This place has some really good ones!
This place is located in downtown Cleveland. You must park on the street, but I never had a problem finding parking. The place has an old French Café feeling. It’s full with lots pretty old feel and they have shells where they sell olive oils and pastas and cooking, etc. very cute. They have plenty of sitting inside and some board games for when you are in the mood! When the door opens some cute bells come down and the whole room makes a sound, super cute.
Now to the food, they have a variety of sandwiches with different breads and spreads.
My favorite is the chicken sandwich it is a very big portion so I split with my mom. It is pressed like a panini and it has lettuce, cheese, ranch dressing and it is so good!

Had a terrific lunch here after touring Lee University. My grilled veggie on wheat was awesome and my son loved turkey phillie. Would definitely go back!

We took a detour from the highway and fast food to this little place and it was definitely worth it. Everything was yummy. I had the California chicken sandwich & blackberry lemonade. Everything was so good I decided to try a cookie. I couldn’t make up my mind which to get so I got a chocolate chip and a cinnamon sugar. The sugar was great — saving the other for later. Definitely homemade! As I was leaving I saw some heavenly looking muffins.

Finally got to the Gardner’s Market. My wife often goes from her work across the street and raves about the California Veggie, specially how fresh the veggies are and the quality of the bread.
So they have a Veggie and a California Veggie, but my wife modifies the California Veggie to make it more vegan instead of vegetarian (no cheese) and she replaces the sprouts with lettuce (I am not a fan of sprouts either). The California means it comes with Avocado. Also ask for no mayo (I wish they could use Vegannaise!) to keep it more vegan.
The sandwich is piled high with tasty veggies including tomatoes, lettuce, avocado, onions, and thick fresh mushroom slices. What really makes the sandwich sing is the dressing they put on it… some sort of Italian dressing. Served with a pickle slice.
Seems like a cool vibe inside. Prices were reasonable.

We had to kill several hours at Lee University while our kids were at some dance thing. This was within walking distance.
I had the Cuban and it was great. My wife was more than pleased to see so many vegetarian options and loved her California Veggie sandwich.

There really isn’t a better place to eat in Cleveland, especially for the price. Their sandwiches are great, and the service is excellent.

Excellent food! I had their awesome Ruben on marble rye, my friend got the Italian sub, excellent, my 9 year old son got «The best grilled cheese ever!»

What an adorable spot! Delightful décor, assorted teapots, coffee cups, specialty foods from around the globe, a cooler filled with tasty beverages, assorted gourmet candies and a deli menu that’s perfect for lunch. The staff was knowledgeable, accommodating & friendly. A few bistro tables outside and Celtic music playing in the background. I felt like I was back home noting a muffuletta on the menu. Don’t miss this spot when in the Cleveland area!

Deli type restaurant located down town Cleveland. I liked the ambience of the inside that it brings out. Tables are made of glass that you can see coffee beans that fill the inside.
I got here at a perfect time which was about 10:45 am and was only the second customer in the store. I placed my order and sat down at a table where they will bring it out to you when ready. At about 11am their customers really started coming in.
I got the grilled turkey philly and you can see pictures I took. I was surprised of how good it was. The bread had been toasted just right for a turkey sandwich. It was a pretty good size sandwich too for the price. So, I thought it was a good value.
I parked on the side street to the left of the restaurant facing the front. I was only there for about 30 minutes.
In summary, the turkey philly sandwich was great, there was no problem parking and by the time I left, they were getting busy. My recommendation, come just before 11am to beat the busy lunch traffic here.

Good food good selection. Counter order felt rushed. I didn’t really have the time to make a true decision.

Want to get away from chain restaurants? This was such a great find for lunch as we traveled through Cleveland TN. A unique and delicious deli. We found it on Unilocal & after reading the reviews we decided to stop. We definitely will be back on our next drive through Cleveland.

I love everything about this place! Everything is always so fresh and made with precision to every detail. The hardest part about this place is the hours can be troublesome if you do not live directly in the area. The club sandwich has always been my favorite here and add something sweet for desserts. If you are in the «downtown» cleveland area this should be your lunch spot!
