We loaded up our bikes and set out to try this trail for a change of pace, bright and early on a Sunday morning. It was somewhat of a hike from Tampa but definitely worth it! The trail starts in the hills and runs through Clermont until it hits Lake Minneola and deadends part of the way around the lake. The trail is paved, mostly shaded and wide enough to easily pass people. I wish it ran all the way around the lake — however, most cyclists just keep going on the road to do a full loop of the lake. We decided to follow them, and I’m glad we did. I was surprised how courteous the cars were in giving cyclists room and slowing down. Every biker that passed was also nice, saying hi and good morning. Whoulda thunk? People out in Clermont just seemed friendlier and more relaxed than city people(sorry Tampa!). We did the loop and jumped back onto the trail, which continued west until it neared the South Orange Trail. For a beginner cyclist like myself, the trail and Lake loop gave me a good workout. I loved the rolling hills and friendly atmosphere. I also saw a HUGE black and yellow garden spider for my nature spotting of the day. I would love to bring my dog here. Next time I will also make a detour into town a few blocks away. Sugarloaf Mountain isn’t far away, so for those looking for a challenge you could do this trail then try the even larger hills in the countryside nearby. I will definitely be back.

This is a lesser known park which is absolutely beautiful in the rolling hills of Clermont. The trees are beautiful and the bike path is as well. It almost feels like fall when you’re there this time of year. The park has two practice ball fields, a basketball court, a playground, paved parking, ball fields, restrooms and a covered pavilion near the trail.
