Great hole in the wall. Authentic quality food for a great price. Loved the lamb and al pastor. The guy there was really nice and friendly, and I get the feeling he really takes pride in his cooking and takes care of his guests. If I lived in the area, this would be one of my regular spots.

Came here today. Sign by the road says Chazumba Bakery, sign on business says something else(I forget what, but nothing to do with the word Chazumba). Closed. No hours posted(though supposedly open on Sundays according to Unilocal).

This place is definitely a hole in the wall. It is located by a gas station in a mini shopping plaza. That being said, the food here was delicious. I had a steak Milanese torta which was recommended by the cook. It was very tasty. The bread was fresh and the seasoning on the beef was spicy and delicious. This place is definitely worth a try.

Definitely not a nice looking place. Very sketchy and that’s what made it take me so long to try it… but I’m glad I did! Best tacos in the area by far!

I definitely would NOT recommend this place to anyone that knows their Mexican food. After living in Cali for the last 13 yrs(4.5 in San Fran and 8.5 in San Diego) and recently moving to FL a few months ago, I was definitely craving some good Mexican food. I saw a review from another Unilocaler that currently lives in SD saying how much she loved this place, so I figured it was worth a shot since every other place I have hit since moving here has been horrible… Well that Unilocaler in SD must be going to the wrong places, because this place is not good at all! We swing on in and ordered 2 burritos and said no lettuce(I thought lettuce in a burrito was odd to begin with) after what seemed like forever, our burritos came out and after watching the ladies in the back making tamales, we figure why not add on 2 of those too. While I put our baby on the car, my wife paid and was over charged(only by a couple of dollars but still over charged). When we got home and were still all excited to hear about a great Mexican place near our new house, we dove right in and were horribly disappointed with the first bite. The tamales were extremely dry!(The tamales I used to get from the guy walking along the boardwalk in Mission Beach, ca were 20x better and his were sitting in a cooler.) After the first bite in to The burrito, it made me think I was in an old Wendy’s «where the beef» commercial! And after asking for no lettuce in both, it seemed like they picked the lettuce out of something premade, because there was definitely a few pieces of lettuce inside the burritos. Everything was lacking in flavor as well. We will definitely be avoiding this place and will continue looking for a real Mexican restaurant in the area.

First in Clearwater with my wife and took me to this place. The owners were very friendly and answered all the questions I had regarding the menu. I ordered three tacos carnitas and it was very very good. I would recommend this place to anyone wanting to try authentic Mexican food.

Living in san diego for the last 6 years and having eaten lots of mexican food in San Diego where Mexican food is an everyday thing I am so glad that I can come home and find some awesome Mexican food right around the corner from my house! Love the tacos and their fresh juice water!!! Everytime I’m home visiting my momma I make sure to stop here to get some delicious tacos.

So after seeing all the excellent reviews about this please on Unilocal,I was finally ready to give it a try after many years of procrastinating(Mostly due to the shady looks of the building as other reviewers have said). Inside, the restaurant is very small and it is only about two tables. The restaurant owner’s children were running around all over inside while I was waiting for my food to be done. I ordered a few different tacos including Chicken and Al Pastor. Also got a side of Mexican rice and refried beans. The woman who took my order was friendly and answered all my questions. I ordered food to go and shared it with a friend at home. While I would say it qualified as being authentic in its presentation, it was not the best Mexican I’ve ever had. The corn tacos were over cooked and they were not very flavorful without the sauce. I will give them thumbs up for the tasty salsa verde and their good prices. I might try it again another time but its not my top pick

I lived near this place for over a year and didn’t go in, but I finally stopped in for lunch recently. I had always wanted to try, but the looks kept me away. It is in an old run down tiny strip center which is finally now getting a face lift. The interior is old and a little dingy, but what do you expect from a taqueria? The place was empty, we were the only table and it seemed like only one of the workers spoke English. They have quite the broad menu for a taqueria much more to offer than just tacos. I had two pastor(pork) tacos for, wait for it, under $ 4. Served on corn tortillas with cilantro and onion they were perfect. The green salsa(guacamole) that they bring is delicious. Not chunky like typical guacamole, but smooth and full of flavor. Seriously I could have drank the stuff. I can’t wait to go back and try other items on the menu.

This was our first time stopping by Chazumba and I think it was a great place for a quick bite to eat. While the ambiance leaves a lot to be desired, the people working there were friendly and helpful and we really enjoyed our lunch. I ordered the steak burrito and a Tamarind juice and was pleasantly surprised by both. The burrito was large and stuffed with lettuce, steak, rice, avocado, and cheese. It was topped with a delicious salsa verde made out of what I assume to be tomatillos and I garnished it with an avocado based salsa verde. Overall, the burrito exceeded my expectations in size and flavor and I was impressed by the quality of ingredients. The Tamarind juice was a new flavor to me but I enjoyed it and would compare it to a sweet tea(but not as sweet). I am giving it 4 stars for the quality of food and price but cannot give it 5 due to the ambiance and service(which was a bit confusing — but they were great). We will definitely be returning to Chazumba again.

I stopped by Chazumba for a followup visit yesterday to check out some more tacos. I ordered longaniza and carnitas, which were served up promptly. The longaniza was delicious, and matched up well with the excellent salsa verde. The carnitas was a disappointment. As I found at another taqueria in the area, unlike the pulled pork which often makes up carnitas, this taco was completely filled with parts of a pig I didn’t recognize. I’m usually an adventurous eater, but this looked so bad I didn’t touch it and threw it away. Looking back, I should have brought it up with the friendly owner, Roberto, but our conversation moved to other topics. I’ll definitely ask him next time about it, as it’s possible I was served up something like tripe in error. I thought I’d add some additional info on Chazumba as a followup. The interior is very simple, minimal décor and about ~20 seats. Their menu has10 kinds of tacos(steak, chicken, pastor(marinated pork), suadero(brisket), lengua(tounge), carnitas(pork), longaniza(spicy sausage), cabeza(cow head), tripe, and Barbados(lamb only available on weekends). I didn’t see shrimp offered this time, so I’ll need to ask if it’s still available. In addition they have burritos, huaracha, quesadilla, sopes, alambre(meats and cheese), and 10 kinds of tortas($ 7 – 10). Also available is 3 roast chicken dishes, 3 homemade soups, and 6 desserts(including flan and strawberries & cream). Rounding out the menu is fruit jello, apple salad and pastes(a small pastry stuffed with a variety of fillings). To wash all of that down, make sure to try the aguas frescas, an uncarbonated«fruit water» prepared every day. Unlike a typical Kool-Aid or punch, these are not overly sweet at all, just full of great, mild fruit flavor, served out of a huge jug filled with ice. The flavor of the day was peach/mango, and it was delicious. And if you have a chance, introduce yourself to Roberto and his lovely wife Rosemary, who work from 9am-midnight 7 days each week to deliver their authentic tastes. They are both extremely friendly, and are glad to chat when the crowd thins out. Atmosphere: 4 Service: 4 Food: 4 for the longaniza only Value: 4
