Steak ‘n Shake

It never fails when you go thru the drive thru they never get your order correct. Won’t go back. The customer service sucks as well. Really need to hire competent people !

Everyone who works there looks stoned. After sitting at the bar area for 10 minutes, I asked if there was a waiter who waits on the bar. The waitress looked at me like I was speaking another language and walked away, with no response. When I asked to speak to the manager, he wasn’t too helpful either. They honestly looked overworked and quite possibly on drugs. Not too sure about this location.

Stopped tonight with the girls on the way home from shopping around 10pm and we love the shakes but seriously I don’t care if someone in cust service isn’t a total kiss ass. Personally, I think it’s demeaning when you force a person to kiss ass, but a simple hello or hi, maybe even «can I get you something else» instead of «is that it». Or how about goodbye, goodnight. Just saying common courtesy goes a long way. Oh, and almost forgot, I asked for one of the shakes without a cherry and and what did I find? A cherry all the way in the bottom!

First time hearing about and eating at a Steak and Shake since I am not from the South and absolutely loved it! The service was fast, the cost of food was inexpensive, and the burgers tasted so fresh. I had the Western BBQ burger and loved it! I liked that the patties were thin and had a little bit of crispiness around the edges. My husband had the cheese steak burger and also really enjoyed it. We also ordered shakes to go which were delicious.
My only complaint were the fries… I’m not a big fan of very thin fries… wish they had a little more substance to them. However they were tasty.

I was a first time customer and heard a lot of great things, so I was excited. The food was fantastic, no question. The family really enjoyed it. I found the service a little lack-​luster. Other than checking on how the food was, our server never visited our table. Even dropped the check with our main course because he didn’t expect to do anything more with us. Our drinks ran out and we were interested in ordering shakes for desert. We sat there for 20 minutes after we finished eating hoping the server would come back so we could order shakes. When he finally did, he acted like it was a chore to continue serving. I’m sorry, but since tips are check total AND quality of service driven, you’d think he’d be stoked that we were increasing our check. I would recommend some server training. He got the minimum 15% tip from me. I usually tip 20% or more.

Pretty consistent good food. The shakes are always awesome and the chili Mac supreme is always good!

I don’t like giving negative reviews. It took forever for my taco salad. The whole table had their food and was nearly finished before mine came. They didn’t even acknowledge the awkwardness of that. Everyone else’s fries were cold. You can do better than that Steak ‘n Shake.

Our experience

Hit the drive thru yesterday. The service was horrible! And the food was even worse! I now remember why I never eat there!

I just needed an diet coke after spending an hour shopping. The drive through took entirely too long to purchase just this item. Normally I get the #17, but this was just for a large diet. *shrug* At least they got the order right.

Horrible horrible. Service was incredibly slow and we ordered sliders and buns were really stale… very unhappy with the whole dining experience.

Here’s a novel idea… An individual was having lunch at the noon day hour and enjoyed a double steak burger, french fries and a cold glass of iced-​tea with lemon slices. Across the aisle and several booths to the left, sat two ladies, one of the pair seemed to have a walking challenge. As they ate, they appeared happy with the service and
the cuisine which are the chain’s well-​known commodities.
Just today… just today, Sit back, relax, take it all in at a «Steak and Shake.» There is no need to rush. Just enjoy.
Once, in a while, treat, yourself or friends to a simple or spectacular meal which will state «you’re welcome!» come on back, when you can!

Beats fast food chains, especially if you like shakes. Family of five are for $ 34. Pop Pop lives their snickers shake.

i know their expectations. they had no hostess and the manager was working behind the counter. the place was full snd short staffed. i am sure its not that way always but it hurts the quality of service and the food. i had crunchy well done steak burgers aftet 30 minutes. i will give them another shot only cuz i know better

Ugh! This place is literally right down the street from my house. 2 min and I wish it wasn’t!!! EVERY TIME we go here we wait unbelievably long to get anything! Whether it’s an hour to get our drinks while sitting in or 30 min in the drive thru to get a milkshake! I keep telling myself to never go back… but once in awhile I think «oh maybe it won’t be so bad»…NOPE it’s even worse. I waited 25 min in the drive thru to get 2 shakes… JUST SHAKES! I never got a hello or anything. The guy swiped my card and closed the window on me for another 15 min before handing me my shakes. Even a simple «it’ll be a moment, sorry» would have been ok. Gah. By the time I got my shakes. I was so mad I wanted to throw it at him.

Foods ok. Better than a couple but don’t ask to buy two shakes and put in one big cup. That’s a no no. Not matter what. Drive thru always slow. Staff not the most friendly or at all accommodating. So they get a 3 Star.

We’ve been going to Steak N Shake for decades. Something is happening to this place. The service has gone from great to poor. I had to wait in the entrance for several minutes while tables sat with dirty dishes on them. We had to wait again to be served, and another long wait to get our food. Our server forgot our shakes. As I ate my lunch, I watched as other customers arrived to the long wait. I wanted to warn them. When I mentioned something about the poor service to my server, she said, «it’s like this every day. We have to bus our own tables.» S n S has lost its mojo and will not be on my list of lunch favorites anymore.

My relationship to Steak N Shake goes back to when I was just a few years old. Our family is from IL where Steak N Shake started in 1934, just one year after my dad was born. So it’s not just that I grew up eating at SnS, my dad, mom, and lots of relatives have eaten here for decades.
Growing up my dad’s work required lots of travel, and often the whole family joined him for the trip. Regularly my dad would take extraordinarily wide detours, up to 50 miles or more, on trips through the state just to make sure our trip would include a stop at one of their restaurants. We would be driving along, wondering why we had chosen this new route when, he’d say, «Wow, look at this. Thank goodness we stumbled on a Steak N Shake!» SnS served up the chili, thinly grilled burgers and skinny fries like he always liked, and eating on china plates with silverware at least up’d our fast food stop to something more than just fast food.
So, if in my Dad’s honor alone, eating at Steak N Shake still holds a place for me.
I’ve eaten at this SnS easily 10 times over the past 4 years from lunches to 4 in the morning, and the food has been consistently good. My favorite has always been chili 3 way with onions, and the dish here is usually very good. SnS chili has a unique blend of flavor and spice that I don’t often find, and it’s not even my favorite style, but it’s still usually tasty.
Service is usually pretty good, but can be spotty sometimes in the middle of the night when the staff is sparse and the crowd is occasionally large.
