The gyros are great. The tacos are great. The staff are friendly and the prices are good. They are open late. I love this place.

Omg!!! We ordered tacos… tacos not a tortilla with unseasoned and completely strange textured meat. The meat they claime is carnitas is literally dry boiled pieces of pork with with no taste at all… like not even salt. The girl who charged us was nice I can tell she was embarrassed by the food when I went to counter and told them it had no taste and there was no way in he’ll I wold eat it. However the lady or cook/owner was very rude and stated well that’s how we cook here to bad lol. I was like whatttt! Anyways don’t recommend it at all.

My favorite place to go for a late night snack! Family owned and so friendly! Their hot veggie sub is delicious and veggie burrito. Really good fries and salsa! Everything on the menu is a good choice

It’s late and you want to grub?! Hit this place for your indecisive tummy. They have subs, burgers, gyros, tacos and so much more. It’s a restaurant identity crisis really… But I ain’t mad. They have pretty decent food surprisingly with cuisines from all over the world. We tried their burger, gyro and tacos! I wouldn’t say it was the best thing in the world, but will satisfy an hungry tummy. Their food is a tad bit on the bland side but they have a good selection of taco meats(I enjoyed the veal head). The burger was pretty good and massive! The gyro was just alright to me, but I love that no matter what a member in the group wants you can get it here at one spot! It’s not the cleanest but hey! It’s open super late with so many food options.

This is a family owned restaurant that looks uninteresting from the outside but is a try-this-delicious– food-word-of-mouth type place. Tacos are excellent and the Chimichanga is to DIE for. Nothing fancy but great casual eats. Everyone I have taken here became a regular until they moved out of state.(My friends are always moving) I was taken here for the first time by a friend and have now been eating their yummy tacos and tamales for over five years! :) Tacos are under three dollar, tamales under two and the chimi is almost 9 but HUGE and TOTALLY worth it. Cheese, please. and hot sauce.yum.

Food is always great. Fast service. Dining area is always clean. Steak and cheese sub is great. It comes with grilled onions so if you don’t like onions please tell them not to add them. I didn’t realize it came with onions. But it still was delicious. In fact I will always order it with onions. My friend ordered wings extra crispy. The tacos are really good too

Visited Clearwater again and made it a point to eat here again. I ordered 2 steak and 1 carnitas tacos. All were excellent and delicious. The tacos are huge and a good size portion with all the filling. I think 2 would have been sufficient. My fiancée had the gyros. This also had a huge portion. It was good but I enjoyed my tacos more. I will definitely come here again when I visit.

Second time eating at this place and as you read I came back. Chicken pita is really good and the chicken has a good marinade. The after taste from the first was bad but we will see about the second time around. Second time around no after taste and all good.

We were out late on our way back to our hotel from Clearwater Beach and looking for some late night eats, and not really in the mood for fast food. We happened to see Florida Subs & Gyros signs on saying they were open and read some reviews that they were good so decided to check it out. They are open late-until 5am. They had a lot on the menu available, and the staff wasn’t overly friendly but not rude either. We ordered wings, shrimp, steak tacos. The wings were rock hard on the outside– not crispy but so hard they almost hurt your teeth to bite into, and not tasty at all. The shrimp and tacos were horrible. Shrimp were bland and mostly batter. Not sure what the great reviews were about as we agreed it was one of the worst meals we have ever had, we all literally felt horrible until the next day after eating it.

I love this place! Authentic Mexican tacos. I’m not a fan of steak but the chicken & carnitas(pork) are awesome. If you get tacos get them«Tex Mex» style. I can’t choose which is better so I always get the Chicken chickenito & pork taco«Tex Mex». I think it’s a family owned/operated place which makes it that much better

Excellent prices, lots of food! This place is like a hodgepodge of Mexican, American and Greek food. I haven’t had all that many things off of the menu, but what I have had was really good. There’s parking in a shared lot. The staff are very nice.

This place has incredible tacos! I’d love to try the rest of the menu, but the tacos are so good that I can’t bring myself to ordering anything else. The staff is very polite and there’s plenty of room for a bigger group of people. I will definitely be back, especially since they have late hours.

The staff are pretty nice it has a surprisingly large seating area. Room to spread out. The place smells a bit of fabulouso floor cleaner. The food is awesome though. Amazing gyros and the onion rings came out perfectly! The area around this place is pretty ghetto plus right down the street from Clearwater high so if you come around the time school gets out you have the pleasure of dealing with hormonal teenagers strutting around making a ruckus. Nothing I wouldn’t have done at their age though.

The food is good, the inside is kinda old fashioned, the price of the food is CHEAP, definitely a bang for your buck. I’ve had the gyro’s, steak and cheese sub, and the wings, all deserve at least 4 out of 5 stars. Would have gave a 5 but the steak and cheese sub had NOCHEESE or mayo and the wings are VERYTINY, and when i say tiny i mean tiny, a wing is about the size of a lays potatoe chip so don’t expect to get full off of 10 of them. But overall i will probaly go there again.

Why 4 stars? Because they are open late in a sleepy town. — — — Clearwater. Not exactly the city that never sleeps. Kinda the opposite actually. It almost exclusively sleeps. But I stay up late, and so does Florida Subs & Gyros. I was on my way back from a presentation, when I realized that my belly was empty. I sat in my car for a solid 10 minutes trying to figure out where to eat in North Pinellas around 945pm. I remember Rich D(aka Mr. Clutch) reviewing this place, and I instantly knew where to go. I ordered a chicken pita. I’ll be honest, it wasn’t life-changing. But I am willing to bend my rating for the convenient hours, and vast menu. It’s not just subs & gyros, there’s actually a full Mexican menu of items to choose from as well. I don’t usually hang out in Clearwater late at night, but I know where I’ll eat next time I’m in that sitch’.

So what do you do if it’s 11pm Christmas night, you’re driving home from the relatives, and even though you chowed down on turkey there, it’s been 9 hours since you ate a thing. And what if you’re driving down Gulf to Bay near Hercules, and the only thing that’s open is McD’s and BK… that is until you spot some lights on in a little joint in a small plaza at a place called Florida Subs & Gyros. You’re not really hungry for a turkey sandwich, but you figure you’ve got to check it out. And then once you’re inside, you find the place is half full of locals chowing down, not on subs or gyros, but… Mexican? What the… It turns out this spot is cranking out authentic, tasty Mexican from the back by two dear ladies who believe that from 3pm-3am on Christmas, Mexican food fans will need to eat somewhere, so why not at their place? Turns out late night dining is not unusual as Florida Subs, with hours of 11a-2:30a Mon-Thurs, 11a-5a Fri-Sat, and Sunday noon to midnight. I wouldn’t be surprised this place gets some significant business for the bar crowds after closing. The interior is surprisingly big with seating for about 75 people in booths. If you’re a neat freak, this place could stand a good cleaning, as the floors look like they’ve accumulated some significant dirt over some time. But if you’re not fazed by that, and realize that a clean Mexican restaurant certainly doesn’t guarantee the food will be good, then order up some favorites. Even though it was busy, orders were taken promptly with friendly service/smiles, and food served up shortly afterwards. There’s a huge menu over the counter detailing 9 salads, ~20 subs, more burgers & dogs, chicken tenders & wings, and platters of fried fish/shrimp/gyros/chicken pitas. These folks even serve up corn dogs for pete’s sake! But fairly hidden on a white board just to the left of the counter is all the Mexican choices, too. Every day they serve eight meat choices for tacos, including barbacoa(lamb) which most local taquerias only serve on weekends. Tacos are served in both traditional style(2 fresh cooked corn tortillas with cilantro/onions/salsa, as well as Tex-Mex(heaping with lettuce/tomatoes/white crumbly cheese). In addition they have huaraches, gorditas, tamales, quesadillas and burritos. I ordered a traditional carnitas(pork) and barbacoa taco, and my guests ordered chicken tacos Tex-Mex style. The 2 corn tortillas came out so hot I couldn’t pick it up without wrapping it in napkins. The carnitas was good/solid but not exceptional, and the barbacoa was not very good. My guests raved about their chicken tacos, so I followed up with a traditional chicken taco, which was an absolute winner, just outstanding with moist chicken seasoned well. Florida Subs also serves up an excellent salsa verde, which really pulls the blend of flavors together. I wish I would have tried the steak tacos instead of the barbacoa, but that gives me a reason to return. Value was good, with the traditional tacos at $ 2 and Tex-Mex at $ 2.50, both right in line with the competition in Clearwater, and very good when you consider hardly any other taquerias serve up 2 tortillas in each taco. I’m a bit torn on how to score Florida Subs, but on my 5-star Pinellas taqueria scale, I give it: Atmosphere: 3 Service: 4 Food: chicken taco a 5, carnitas a 3 and barbacoa a 2 Value: 4 Overall score I’d give 4 on the chicken alone(and hope the steak is just as good). I’ll definitely give it another visit and update my review.

So it’s called Florida Subs & Gyros but insiders know it as «the shit» Seriously, they call it that! The best tacos around. Definitely authentic, a little greasy, no sour cream and plenty of cilantro and raw onion. The salsa verde is quite good too and hard to find in Tampa Bay. Never had a sub or gyro here and don’t know anyone who has, so can’t comment on that.
