Purchasing a Living Social deal for this business was how I found them. Having a little kid you get a lot of pictures taken of them at the standard studios like Sears, JC Penney, etc. This deal caught my eye because of the beautiful and the unique setting of the photos advertised on their website. None of the standard cheesy poses you get at the usual photography place — these pictures were individual works of art. The deal I purchased was a 30-Minute In-Studio Fairy Portrait Photo Session with Fairy Costume Wings or Boys’ Huck Finn, Robin Hood, or Fishing Portrait Photo Session, Including One 8 ½×11 ½ Glow-in-the-Dark Portrait. Intrigued, I plunked down $ 45 for the deal and called the photographer to book the appointment. Steve scheduled the appointment for a Saturday afternoon based on mutual availability. A few days before the photo shoot something came up and I was forced to reschedule. Steve graciously re-booked the appointment with no hassle. The day of the appointment we arrived and found the studio behind a strip plaza in a small section of warehouse space. When we walked in I wasn’t sure what to expect. It was a tiny converted office jam packed with stuff where Steve the photographer was waiting for us. He had a large clothing rack of kids costumes to choose from in a variety of sizes. I have a daughter so she selected a woodland fairy costume for her photos. We found a costume which fit her perfectly and the photographer stepped out of the office while we changed her then we and went into the studio. This was not your typical bright and blinding studio again like you find at traditional photo places. It is converted warehouse space but with a huge forest backdrop, a large fake boulder, props and a mock forest floor with silk plants in front of the back drop. My daughter was a bit overwhelmed by the space but the photographer was very good talking to her the whole time and engaging her in the scene. He quickly had her posing and acting the part of a woodland fairy snapping away while she pretended to be a sleeping fairy, a fairy playing with a sparkling ball, a fairy walking through the forest with her magical lantern, a fairy listening for other magical creatures… it was very cute and nicely done. After several poses and what seemed to be over a hundred digital photos taken, the shoot was over. Steve showed us several of the pictures on the camera and they were absolutely stunning. The photographer explained that each photo taken he reviews and selects the best from the shoot. Those are then sent to an artist who further enhances the picture by adding special effects and cleaning up the picture to remove any blemishes such a stray hair, etc. The photos take 2 – 3 weeks to be returned and I am anxiously waiting to get the results. I am rating them with 4 stars for now because we are waiting for the photos to be completed. For now, this was a fun & unique photo opportunity at a good rate. Once the pictures are returned I will update the review. ***Update*** I met with Steve the photographer this past weekend to view and select the photos he had taken of my daughter a few weeks ago. I was absolutely stunned and so pleased with the end result! Each photo of my daughter was a work of art. I usually find a pose or two from the usual photo studios to purchase, but nothing like this! The pictures Steve the photographer showed me were ALL wonderful! The artist added whimsical special effects to each photo which added charm and magic to the already perfect photos. I purchased a CD that included all of the digital pictures which Steve provided a full copyright release for. I selected the 8×11 glow in the dark photo I got with my living social deal but I will be ordering more!
