Cody’s Original Roadhouse

This place makes my blood boil.
We walk in, no reservations, and ask how long the wait is. The hostess gives us a playing card and tells us ten minutes. Ten minutes is GREAT! We’re starving, so we take a seat and wait… where he wait patiently for thirty minutes. The gentlemen I was with goes to the hostess and asks how much longer we should expect to wait, because we were told ten minutes. The Hostess, without even looking at him, says, «Not yet.» and walks away. Oh, okay.
He sits back down where we wait another fifteen minutes. We have sat through TWO CROWDS come before us. Look, I get it, we didn’t have reservations, but when they wrote our name down on the notepad, there were 5 couples in front of us. When the gentleman I was with went back up to ask how much longer again, the hostess walks away and ignores him. So he asks a little louder when she comes back. «Mam’, we were told ten minutes and its been closer to 45 minutes, many couples have been seated before us, did we miss our call?» and she replies VERY RUDELY, «Look, we have to seat ALL these people before you because they were CALL AHEADS.»
He looks at the list and there are now 15 couples UNDER OUR NAME. So, because we didn’t CALL ahead, and instead just came in and took a seat, we waited FOURTY FIVE F******** MINUTES to be treated like complete garbage by the nasty rude blonde hostess. There was one couple right behind us complaining about the same issue.
Needless to say, we left without eating. Don’t spend your money somewhere the staff blatantly ignores you and then is ridiculously rude.

My first review that I have done. I gave it a one star because I never made it inside to eat. We were told 20 minutes and handed a playing card to wait for a table. 40 minutes went by and I went back inside to ask a hostess how much longer. She told me about 20 minutes and that there were 7 tables still ahead of our party of 5. I proceed to explain that we were told 20 minutes when we checked in for a table and it already had been 40 minutes. She then explained that they were busy. (#1 is it not the customer’s problem the business is busy, accommodate or adjust and prep the customer) I said I understood that and could see they were busy. I then handed the hostess my card and told them we were not waiting any longer. The situation was handled totally wrong. I would have told customers that we would get you in as possible but it could be up to a 45 minute wait, not 20. The customers could adjust their schedule and wait if they’d prefer or leave. I’d rather the hostess be honest with me and say it could take up to an hour, I would have respected that more (left anyway) but I would have returned for dinner or lunch another day. But as a result I will not go back. Word of advise, in my opinion. Tell customers a little longer ie, the wait is about 30 minutes and that way if you get them in sooner they will be happy it didn’t take as long, but if you tell a customer 20 minutes and it is beyond 40 minutes then the chances of you gaining that customer is slim or they will already be aggravated by the time they get to their waiter/​waitress.

Was very disappointed. Took the family Tuesday night services was not good salad was wrong I told her no peppers came with peppers we told the waitress she said yes I know why did you bring it. We had to wait for everything.

First visit here must say very impressed! Service was great beer was cold and food was great! We started with chicken wings they great. The wife had half a rack of ribs and I had the 10oz prime rib everything was cooked perfect! We loved the house salad and bread! We will be back!

Our server Jean R was great. All the food was also great… except the prime rib. Only thing we agreed we would not order again. We had the cheesy cheesy shrimp, felt mignon, baby back ribs and the «marginal» and chewy prime rib. Would go back again and would recommend this place.

Very disappointed with my visit
Ordered beer battered fish, it was over fried, practically burnt. One half of the fillet was all coating. No fish inside
Couldn’t even salvage the other portion of fish as it was so oily
Ate none of the entrée and all the waitress could say was «bless your heart.»
Never offered to send mgr over but they made sure they charged me full price for an entrée that was inedible.
Never again at this location
Even when I told waitress I had to stop for. Meal on the way home all she told me was to have a blessed day

Worst experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant… and it was for my son’s 10^th birthday. All week he mentions he wants to go there & once we get there, it was disastrous from the start. From food being cold to our waitress being terrible. At least the manager tried to make things right but by then it was too little too late. Our food was probably hot when it was done but, from where we were sitting, we could see the waitress standing around talking to other waitresses before she remembered our food hadn’t come out yet. When another person finally brought out our food (after we asked where it was at), I could stick my whole finger into my loaded baked potato without even burning myself. Butter & cheese weren’t even melted so I know the potato had been sitting. Then my steak was undercooked. I asked for Medium Well & it came out mooing and cooing. They go send it back & then they killed it. Lol. I just told them to send it back because it was so over cooked that I couldn’t enjoy it. Again, the manager tried to make it right. It wasn’t her fault but I’d hate to be the staff during a meeting this morning because that woman was ticked. To top it off even more, they didn’t even sing my son Happy birthday. 2 tables around us had birthdays (same waitress) & they got it. We sang him Happy birthday instead. My son was looking forward to it & it made us feel like they didn’t want to do it for us since we had so many problems. I hate to complain about food but this was too much to not say something. The manager last night was wonderful. I’m sorry she had to deal with so much crap from us but she definitely tried to help us in every way possible but her waitress Brittany needs to find a new profession. This is the first bad experience we’ve ever had there but it was bad enough for me to vent like this.

Awesome from the second we walked in the door. The greeting by the staff was friendly. We were seated as soon as we walked in. We got drinks in less than five minutes and were given ample time to review the menu. I got the T bone steak, and my wife got the coconut shrimp. We were treated to endless salad and bread while we waited for the main entrée. As a bonus, we had peanuts at the table. Brittany did a good job keeping our drinks topped off. The steak was so good, cooked and seasoned to perfection. My wife went nuts over the coconut shrimp and the dipping sauce.

I came in one evening basically to have a few beers at the bar with friends and it was definitely a good choice! One of my favorite beers, blueberry ale (dog head?), was on tap and 2-​for-​1 at that! So I was basically happy as a clam. The only awkward thing about it was the interaction I had with one of the bartenders, he seemed to be the new guy on the floor and he rather forcefully told me I didn’t need both of my 2-​for-​1s at the same time. That’s not exactly his decision to make but the price was enough to convince me it was a bearable remark.

For starters I had the most amazing waitress Jean she was amazing. The food was great !! As always this is my 3^rd or 4^th time here and I never leave unsatisfied !! go Jean

Everytime we go to this Cody’s it’s horrible! We went last week and again it sucked! Service was horrible, waitress disappeared, we
flag her down to. come over. The food was even worse! My daughter go chicken fingers and they were literally the size of my pinky finger. I got a salad and found a hair in it. This is the last time we will EVER go in that place!

My full review can be read on TripAdvisor. The service here, spearheaded by an awful manager named CANDICE, was just awful. I don’t get it. Don’t restaurant chains interview, train and monitor their managers? Apparently not, because CANDICE has no clue how to finesse poor service and quality of food that her restaurant provided. I bet that she will be forced to find a new job soon.

I have been eating at and drinking at Cody’s Original Roadhouses in the Tampa Bay area for many, many years. I have seen many different locations ebb and flow from being popular to being derided… The Countryside Clearwater location I think was one of the most popular Cody’s in all of Tampa Bay…
And then they moved…
They did not move far, just across the parking lot but to me it seems that something changed other than the building. I was there last Wednesday (Which is always 2 for 1 Fajita Night at Cody’s) and in the past at the old location you could not get in the door on a Wednesday. The bar would be packed 3 deep behind each chair and the hostesses would be calling number or cards or whatever for people waiting for tables for an hour or more.
The new Cody’s was a veritable Ghost Town compared to the old days…
This is not always a bad thing though as we were seated immediately, served promptly, had great drinks and good food without any of the noise that accompanied dining at the old Cody’s.
I had the Steak Tips which in this case were trimmings of Filet Mignon and ever so tender and Juicy. My daughter had her normal Chicken sandwich served to her liking. Our waitress was pleasant even while training another and she was very attentive with drink refills and the like.
All in all I give Cody’s a grade «A» on the move, the new building is more appealing, quieter inside and has a more intimate atmosphere. The bar does not seem as big as the last location’s bar but it was also not nearly as busy.
I do not have any clue why the locals who frequented the old Cody’s seem to have abandoned this one after this little move, but I will take advantage of the quicker service and better atmosphere, if they do not.

Just ate here. Food was fantastic! Had a great server though I can’t remember her name. Had some boneless wings as an appetizer and a burger for dinner. Great food, asked for medium rare burger and got it. Buy one get one happy hour and it was a pretty stiff drink. Will return before I leave from vacation.

Decent service, good food, and decent drinks. Watch coming on Wednesday night. Hadley to get in with the buy one get one fajita deal.

The new place looks great! We went in on a Sunday and it was pretty much empty although it quickly started to fill up. The service was great, Ally was our server and was very friendly. The food was good but took way too long, I can’t even imagine how long it would take on a busy night. I think we will give it another try again in the future sometime.

I don’t see why this place charges a lot for typical American food. But the vibe is good… the dinner rolls are delicious and sweet with Cinnamon Butter… the salad is fresh and is mixed at your table by the server… the fajitas are delicious and the sweet tea is one of the best I’ve ever had. Endless Peanuts (and you can dispose the shells on the floor. This place was Crowded for a Tue (only cuz it’s kids eat free). Service was adequate. But, a bit pricey, and seems to be a typical hangout for old people. Oh, and the parking is pretty bad when it’s full.

The other night I went out to dinner with my husband and 6 other friends. We arrived at prime time and had to wait. This was fine, the wait wasn’t terribly long. We were seated, and our orders were taken. The server was very pleasant and efficient, especially when having to deal with a large party.
When the orders were brought to us. one of our parties was served a steak that was supposed to be Medium Rare. What he got was well done. He capitulated on flagging the waiter down and asking for it to be redone. In the end, he did just that. The server apologized profusely and the steak was taken back, mean while the rest of us ate our food. 10 minutes later, the steak was returned, a new one, it looked and smelled amazing, but when he cut into it. it was almost blue. it was –that– rare.
Two times his steak was wrong. So third time’s the charm. Of course my friend was worried that it was going to be spit on or something else, but when they brought it out the final time it was passable. He did end up taking much of it home because the rest of us were done.
The manager came over to the table to present the checks, he casually handed my friend a card for a free Appetizer, but there was no money taken off for the steak. It’s not that he wanted it free, after all, he didn’t even speak up on it, but if you mess up twice, there probably should be a bit more compensation for their trouble, especially when he didn’t get to eat with the rest of us and was forced to watch us.
Not a good first impression at all.

This restaurant is typical of the chain.
The inside has some «chain steakhouse» atmosphere although it could use some refreshing/​updating.
I really like the biscuits and the «bottomless» salad that comes with every meal. Free peanuts too.
My steak was just o.k. Not a great cut of steak — Outback is much better at this price point. Maybe I just drew the short straw…
