Ordered take-out, pretty straightforward stuff. Food was ready as expected, interior was nice if we’d sat down, most of all for a Bay Area guy the food was priced so reasonably. Most dishes ~$ 6 – 7, pretty hard to drop less than $ 30 at Chinese for two in the Bay.

Lake County is so lucky to have a place like this. Being half chinese dishes and half Thai, there is something for everyone. My favorites are Pad See Ew and satay beef. My family really loves the honey walnut shrimp and fried rice. Tonight, we had the green curry with prawns which was perfectly spicy and incredibly fresh tasting, and overflowed with perfectly cooked green beans and tender shrimp. We also had the spicy seafood hot pot which was very spicy. It had a crazy amount of green mussels which I just love. I try to have something new each time I go because I have never had anything bad here. If you are just looking for value on more classic chinese, the family meals are a great deal and always send you home with leftovers. This really is a diamond in the rough.

Bartender showed up late, to work. And was not offered menu. When asked to start dinner, 15 min. later, they started anyway. Overall, food, was great.

Walked in about 7pm. This place was packed. Every table was occupied. Considering how busy it was my group was seated within 5 minutes. My server took a couple of minutes to attend to us, but I was ok with that because the entire staff was literally running around catering to everyone in the restaurant. I rate a Chinese restaurant by a couple of things. One is the ice tea. Their ice tea was excellent flavor. I also rate by cleanliness. The carpets are worn, but the tables & rest rooms were very clean. Now on to the food. We were served our food extremely fast. I think I was eating my dinner within 15 minutes of sitting down. This was a surprise as I was expecting to wait at least 30 minutes or more. My drinks were refilled and the food had excellent taste. I’m am happy to give 5 stars as they exceeded my expectations. I will be back and would drive here for dinner even though I am 1 hour away. Happy customer at Happy Garden!

I stopped in for take out around 7PM on a Thursday night. Restaurant was fairly busy and there was a large group seated at one table. I ordered my to go and sat down to wait. More and more people came streaming in to pickup pre ordered food or to eat in. The door opened and a large group of the awesome firemen who are in the area fighting the Rocky and Jerusalem fires in Lake County came in for dinner. It was so beautiful when diners got up to hug and thank the firemen and it was just a feel good moment. Now about the food — -I was very impressed with my beef and snow peas. Very fresh and tasty and large portions. I will be back to eat in and try some other Chinese dishes. I recently moved to Clearlake area and am excited to find a great restaurant in this small area.

Had a KILLER meal here while on vacation. We ordered the Canton family style meal + an order of chow mein and it was a TON of food. Everything was delicious. The service was efficient and the place bright and clean.

I grew up in Lake County, even though I no longer live there, I do still have family there and visit whenever I can. I also know that there are not many and have not been many wonderful Chinese restaurants in the area; or for whatever reason in my opinion, there have not. Happy Garden is a nice and refreshing end to this trend because the restaurant is clean, the food is delicious, and the service was excellent. I LOVED the yellow curry chicken over steam rice and I loved the lunch prices; it was a lot of food for a great price and came with a spring roll and the soup of the day. I really appreciated the way that the staff was very attentive without being overbearing and I also did like the way that my water glass was always kept full! I didn’t get the chance to try other things on the menu because I zoned in on the yellow curry and was sold. My dining companions ordered a platter of chicken chow mein and fried rice and sweet and sour chicken and they both looked so delicious. I tried the sweet and sour chicken and fried rice and it was delicious also. This is a wonderful gem in the Oaks and I cannot wait to go back to visit so that I can go back to Happy Garden!

A previous review says” best Asian food on the lake” Theres less than a hands full of asian restaurants in the whole county so take that statement with a grain of salt. Place is dated and divey. Their electrical lights in their ceilings look like they’re overloaded, like some appliance in the kitchen is affecting the lighting as is was flickering funny. Carpet is dirty, needs to be replaced. Food: Good for lunch specials.(elderly love that) Good thai rolls. Service: Very good and on spot. I must say. Will give another try though.

Best Thai and Chinese! I live near Pasadena CA and have access to really good, traditional, Chinese and Thai food this resturant could easily compete with them. My husband had orange chicken that was to die for! Just the right amount of spicy, authentic sauce, really good. I had Thai yellow curry chicken that was delicious. I love yellow curry and coconut milk! The hot and sour soup was perfect. The resturant was fresh and pleasant and the restrooms were clean. The staff was very friendly and attentive. We only have one more day visiting the area but we may return here! Can’t say that about anyplace else – except Angel’s Rock House for mexican food.

Won’t be coming back here!!! So happy we have Asian Dragon in Lakeport!!! If u haven’t eaten there yet You Definitely Need To! The Kung pao chicken here was in a heavy«gravy» not a sauce and the chicken was full of fat and grizzle. Disgusting… so I tried to eat the leftovers we brought home and pretty much gagged on the food !! So disgusting! We had gone there a year ago and was good… NOT now!!! Stay away Happy Garden and drive to the Asian Dragon in Lakrport. U won’t be disappointed!

This is the best Chinese or Thai around the Lake. The décor leaves something to be desired. It is a bit dark and old, but the staff is friendly which makes up for it. The food servings are large and everything is always very flavourful. Most of the sauces are on the rich side, which I prefer, but be forewarned if you prefer lighter sauces. My favourite dishes here — The Orange Chicken, The Yellow Curry and the Chicken Satay.

Amazing food for a great price! I’ve eaten here many times and have yet to have a bad thing. The cashew chicken and crab meat and cream cheese wontons are my favorite I items by far.

Everyone raves about Happy Garden — but it’s hard not to be the best Chinese and Thai place around in this one-horse town. Don’t get me wrong, I do like(most of) their food. We always order the hot & sour soup, even though it smells like a horse barn(swear to god, but thankfully it tastes awesome). I prefer the Thai menu because there’s less fried/greasy stuff. The Thai cold chicken salad is awesome, and I totally dig their curries. I wish the chicken dishes on the Chinese menu weren’t all fried and the sauces weren’t so. gelatinous. There’s not much grosser than opening a leftover carton of sesame chicken that’s been congealing in the fridge overnight. Either order an amount you’ll eat when it’s fresh, or blindfold yourself when heating up leftovers, if you want your appetite to stick around.

Great Chinese food. The food is good and consistent and really well priced for what you get. When I go with my family, we always get the Canton dinner. I need to branch out, but that’s just such a reliable option, why change? The bar is always hopping and generally full. What’s sad is that they’ve had a lot of staff changes at the bar and it’s a bummer because a couple of my favorite bartenders are no longer there.
