Although I live in South Carolina now, I love visiting this place every time I go back home. The food is always as amazing as ever, the staff is always friendly and seem to be happy to be there, the place is always clean and has such a warm welcoming feel. I wish I could just pick up the restaurant and move it to SC with me, but I will defiantly be back soon.

Awesome prices horrible food. We had breakfast food and it was just plain bad. The restaurant is nice, service was mediocre. We wont be returning.

Worst brunch experience ever. We sat after ordering our food for 45 minutes in the freezing cold, and ended up walking out. Not one waitress walked up and apologized for the extremely long wait or asked if we needed a refill on our drinks. Once the table next to us that arrived at least a half hour after us received their food we left. Horrible experience.

I think the prices are reasonable. I usually get something simple like an egg, toast, and coffee, and it always ends up costing next to nothing. Obviously, if you get something more complicated, it will be more expensive, like anywhere else. I have tried their sandwiches during lunch time too. They usually have a different special for each day of the week, and I have tried multiple dishes and loved them all. The waitresses have always been nice, too. They are on top of coffee and water refills without having to be asked. If it gets super busy, service can get slower, but I notice that the waist staff always does their best. There are 3 places to sit: the back dining room, which is best for larger groups, the wooden booths in the main area, which has some really neat historical photographs on the wall of the local area, and the outdoor patio, which is really nice in the spring and summer. My friends were actually really surprised when I brought them to Barbara Anne’s, because they did not know it existed. There is no parking lot. You have to either park on the street in front of the building, across the street, or down a side street. You could also park in the strip mall down the road and take a short walk if the weather is nice enough.

Haven’t been here since they reopened because we’ve moved but I used to love this place! It’s so cute and quaint. LOVE their breakfast. All of their pancake options are delicious. French toast is also delicious. Love their hot chocolate and random specials. Never get tired because things always change! Barbara Ann is really sweet and is so fun to chat with!

My wife and I went for lunch, after waiting for over a half hour we still had not even been given a menu. We left.

This place might just be the only culinary attraction that Clayton has to offer. It’s super cheap, and delicious. The food takes a while to come out but I’m sure its because they are making everything fresh to order. My favorite thing is the Biscuits and Gravy. It brings me right back to living in Georgia. The entire wait staff is super friendly and on weekdays its only open during school hours… so no kids! My only issue is that there always seems to be flies hanging around the light fixtures… I wonder why that is…

First time there, we got a late morning breakfast on their patio which was quite nice… The place looked very clean and well cared for and I was impressed by that. The servers were friendly and I enjoyed the small town vibe that’s working there. I’m glad I didn’t read the nit picky bad reviews before I ate there because we enjoyed it! …The omelet was very good and the prices, service and atmosphere were all good too. Next time I’ll try the breakfast special French Toast with Bananas and peanut butter !! You can’t get THAT many places!

Went there yesterday after they closed for repairs for a few. It was the worst we ever ate there maybe they got a new cook but?!? The pancakes were under cooked batter was still in the center, the eggs very runny, and had a funny flavor metallic ?? The hash browns tasted frozen, cardboard would have more flavor and under cooked also were never turned to brown the other side sent them back still didn’t get it right. The only thing ½way good was the sausage and bacon. On a good note it looks good inside and only a third of the flys it used to have

Came here on wednesday. The day before thanksgiving. Just got out of my first class and met up with my brother and our friend. We went on Unilocal to look for a place to eat breakfast and found this place! Not to far from Rowan university! Its a small place that probably will only acommadate 30 people at most. The menu is huge and the specials were cheap! I got the huge breakfast combo! The food came out at a fair pace and it was pretty good! Not the best but enough for a quick breakfast before my next class :)

I really would have loved to give this place a good review. But waiting over 30 minutes for breakfast food automatically gets you major minus points. We wanted to get some breakfast before strawberry picking and found this place on Unilocal. It’s a cute café with a spacious outdoor seating, breakfast bar inside and a side of tables across the room. We were told to sit ourselves anywhere, we chose al fresco. We were then asked for our drink order, 2 coffees which did come quickly. We ordered our breakfast within another 5 minutes. Then it all went downhill from there. The waitress walked in and out about 15+ times and did not even once reassure us that our order was on the way. I gave her several opportunities to say something by making eye contact and nope, nothing! When the order did arrive, sorry to say it was nothing special. I ordered the veggie omelette which was just so-so. The omelette had a bit too much cheese for my liking, the rye bread was drenched in butter, and the hash brown was soaked in oil. The bf had the chicken fajita with a side of turkey sausage. He mentioned that the sausage tasted frozen and his entrée was nothing to be excited about. Our bill for two with tip totaled about $ 24. I would have rather stayed home or head over to the city. Thanks but no thanks!

Pretty good with breakfast foods, and they have some interesting variations of some of the foods. PB&J stuffed french toast. Pancakes are ok, the breakfast bowl is pretty good. I was dissapointed in the sausage gravy, it was sort of bland. Quick and friendly service. I am sure I will be back.

The most amazing breakfast café on the planet! The food is guaranteed to be delicious, no matter what you order. The staff is really great, and the owners are the coolest people ever. I was up this way for a visit recently and I seriously ate here everyday. The prices are very affordable, and once you eat here you will want to return on a regular basis. Barbara Anne’s is everything anyone could ask for in a breakfast/lunch place. The have outdoor seating and you can bring your dog if you want, they even brought my pup out his own water bowl. They also have free WiFi. I could list everything that I ate and drank and tell you it was all delicious, but I will just leave it at everything. Everything is delicious! I will definitely be returning on my next visit to New Jersey.

My boyfriend lives right down the road from here, and I’ve been wanting to try this place forever. It was a really nice day Saturday, so I decided to take him out to breakfast. We sat outside, which was really nice. This place is SOCHEAP. I got cream chipped beef which included hash browns and toast, and he got an omlette. We both got coffees, and our bill was $ 20 including tip. The food was good. Nothing too special about it, but it was great for the price. I’ll probably start coming here every time we go out for breakfast.

Enjoyed a family brunch this morning! Was initially disappointed with the lack of greeting when I walked through the door. No sign or way of knowing whether to seat myself or stand waiting for a first timer. Good coffee service. Solid standard breakfast foods. Really good, thick cuts of bacon. Pancakes were just okay. I thought they were a little doughy and sticky instead of light and fluffy. Apple stuffed French toast was delicious, and so was their creamed chipped beef dish! Highly recommend those two dishes.

I agree with Adam’s review re: the dearth of good breakfast joints in this area(although I think Gilchrist’s has really cornered the market) and that Barbara Anne’s is a good choice. Their outdoor seating area is very pleasant and we enjoyed sitting at the lunch counter. Staff was attentive and yes, the bill was $ 16 for two. Coffeee was good(although not as good as Gilchrist’s); tea was Lipton. I had a $ 2.50 cinnaminon crunch muffin(sliced like a hamburger roll, buttered, then grilled) and $ 2.50 fruit cup(too small for the price and not as fresh as I would’ve liked) and the Mr. had the breakfast platter(eggs, sausage, toast, hash browns and pancakes).

So. I’m from South Jersey. I understand if you don’t want to read my reviews anymore. Anyway, it is damn near impossible to get a good breakfast in South Jersey. Living in Philly, I am spoiled. So whenever I visit family and we go out to breakfast, I know it is going to be a disaster. Well, lament no more. Good breakfast has come to South Jersey in the form of Barbara Anne’s, in the heart of downtown Clayton. I love going here. Their sausage gravy and biscuits have spice. The pancakes are fluffy. The menu is huge, but not overwhelming. It is just GOOD. The décor is a touch cliché, yes– downhome faux country, which can be said about dozens of places in South Jerz. Whatever– the food and prices make up for it. For an outstanding breakfast for my fiancé and I, we have yet to break the $ 20 mark. That is unheard of for us city slickers. All in all, my favorite breakfast/brunch spot in Jersey.
