My son bought me a pair of boots that were too large. I took them back to exchange them, and I was accused of wearing them before I returned them. I had tried them on and walked across a tile floor to see if they fit, but the arch was in the wrong place. I took them off and put them in the box. When I returned them to the store, the clerk said, «Have you worn these boots? They have substantial wear.» I was made to feel like a 5 year old who had done something wrong. I am a 66 year old woman. If the soles of the boots were worn, they were worn by someone besides me. In the end she did let me exchange the boots for another pair so that was nice of her.
