Wow what a fun experience — We ate at the Hibachi table — all the food was excellent. I must admit, sitting with strangers made me feel a little funny at first but we were all friends when we left. We are DEFINITELY returning, and soon. The staff was super friendly, and explained everything very well, as we were all there for the first time. We had some pretty awesome MaiTai’s, and I can’t wait to have that soup again. If I could give it 6 stars I would.

This is a great hibachi place. Clean, has tv’s if you want to watch but the chef’s are awesome and put on a great show. Nice servers. I have paid more for a meal at Ruby Tuesday than I have here for a meal at Sagano. So much food you have leftovers too.

My wife and I enjoy eating at Saganos. The food is always simple. The oriental cooks do their fancy knife twirling and burning of «onion volcanoes. «it is interesting to talk to others who are at the common table. The soups and salads are interesting. On the last visit the chef told us his father was a Hindu priest and the villagers always snitched to his dad whenever he did something wrong.

This place was busy the night I was there so I expected better. As you walk in, you notice the dirty floors right away. Then we were greeted by an immature hostess. Need some training in the front end of the house for sure! When I ordered, I didn’t want the rice so I asked for more veggies. They said No substitutes? Huh? The place was also very loud. They need to fix some acoustics in the dining room. For food quality, the Chicken was dry and entire table did not eat it. The waiter asked one guy if he wanted a box to bring home the left over chicken. His rep one was that he wasn’t full — it just wasn’t any good! Steak was okay — not highest quality strip steak though. Maybe it belonged in the Taco Bell delivery truck rather than a $ 30 plate restaurant To compensate for the food issues, they load up the food with soy sauce. For many the overload of soy fixes it. For me, I’m not so easily tricked. I just was more thirsty from the salt. As you can see I wasn’t impressed.

The food here is not bad but it is nothing special. The service is about average. If I had to pick between Japanese steakhouses in the area, Miyakos definitely gets my vote over Saganos. I think in chain restaurant businesses, companies lose some of their uniqueness that makes them memorable.

Love this place but will not go ever after the rudeness of the Japanese sushi chef from the last few visits.

So disappointed in what will be my only dining experience here. One salmon roll and miso soup to go took 30 minutes. My miso soup was missing tofu and seaweed. The fish in my sushi was half the size of a dime. I wish I could post my photo. I’ve called twice and left messages for a mgr with no return call. The fish tasted very fresh, hence the one star.

I’ve been here 4 more times since my previous review. I’ve taken my previous review down a star. 3 things: 1) Greeters/seaters not very friendly 2) visible cleaning tray and supplies at end of sushi bar– patrons don’t want to see your cleaning supplies 3) the floor is so dirty! I know part of the fun is chefs trying to throw food in peoples’ mouths and that there’s a lot of misses, but do a quick sweep of the floor between settings so we don’t have to see all the trash from the last group!!!

Too bad it has to be a single star. I placed a carry out order, NOT a single person in the restaurant, 2 at the bar. Took 45 minutes. Wanted to charge for a tiny side of spicy mayo. Really guys? It’s $ 5 gallon tops through Sysco. After 45 minutes, still no food. Had to listen to the gossip fest of the young inexperienced hostess’. Had to remind her to check my food. Really? I ordered 2 entrees and 1 Cali roll to go. Spend your money elsewhere folks.

I had been looking forward to eating here all week, boy was I disappointed! We got there and waited 3 hours before We even got something to drink, then we had the rudest waitress that told us to leave, I have Never been asked to leave a restaurant in my life! The manager was a joke. If I was able to I would give negative stars. Don’t waste your time or money, this place is a joke. I don’t wanna leave any stars, but in order to post it is making Me.

I wish I could give negative stars. My young boys wanted Japanese Steakhouse. We got dressed up to go. Arrived at 6:15pm and were told 30 – 35 min wait. After an hour and 20 minutes we finally left. The boys are exhausted and starving. We are at Culvers. And now it’s past bedtime. Thanks for ruining what should have been a really special night out with my boys, Sagano.

Fun for the whole family! Chefs are great and interactive. Always enjoy meeting new people at the table. Little pricy. However, for the amount of food you receive its enough for lunch/dinner the next day! Go and enjoy!!!

I’ve never been to this resturant. Or even to Flint for that matter. But that didnt stop this establishment from letting someone else use my credit card for a couple hundred bucks. Thanks guys!

Very over priced. Chicken is usually over cooked. I enjoyed the food more when they first opened. We try to get take out now but noticed that the quality of the food goes down when you order take out. The veggies are mostly. carrots and not enough. Broccoli. When ever we ask for extra broccoli for the kids they basicly take the broccoli from the whole group. and just give it to the kids. Then charge us more.

Read all review– update on bottom******** Meh. It was good. Wasn’t as good as Miyako’s but close. Their portions are big so you won’t leave hungry. The Chef I will say was fantastic, very fun!!! The sushi was yucky. I’ll stick with Sushiland for that. Will I come back? Yes, it’s closer to home than Miyako’s and there was no wait. Ok I had to update my review– I went back last night 10÷9÷14 so I really wanted to compare between here and Miyako’s since both are close to me. I did prefer the soup at Sagano’s, it has these crunchy yummies in it. I also liked the salad here better. The dressing is fantastic and you get a tomato slice. We had a new chef and he actually did a trick I hadn’t seen before and the food was better than the first time. Last time the chef forgot the noodles until after the meat so no one really ate them. Kids loved their meal and they had fun. Still didn’t try the Sushi again but I did order the coconut shrimp appetizer and it was good. So– I bumped up the star to 4 since we have decided to stick with Sagano’s and say goodbye to Miyako’s.

I’m picky about the sushi I eat. I went here last night and got a TNT roll and the stairway to heaven roll. So good! Warning the TNT roll is super spicy and I like spicy! Good sushi and good service!

Went to Sagano’s last night with my family for my birthday dinner and I was completely satisfied with my experience. This is the third time I’ve eaten at this restaurant and the food was once again excellent. I ordered the Hibachi steak and chicken combo and was very pleased with the meal. The soup was great and the salad was topped with a delicious dressing. The noodles were my favorite part of my dish and went well with the fried rice, Hibachi grilled vegetables, steak and chicken. Plus dinner entrees come with two(additional) grilled shrimp which were also very delicious. I see in a lot of the other reviews that people felt the noodles didn’t fit with the meal. I’ve never been to a Hibachi grill that doesn’t provide noodles as part of the meal, and Sagano’s recipe is quite good. Personally, I like to wait for all the elements(noodles, fried rice, veggies, & meat) to be done before eating. Then I add a little yum yum sauce and ginger sauce. I really enjoy how the different flavors work together. The chef was very entertaining and the wait staff’s service was on point. I’ve eaten at several Hibachi style restaurants in the past, and Sagano’s food and service is a step above your average Japanese bistro.

As my nine-year old daughter whispered to me while watching our chef fumble around a bit, «I think he’s new.» So it is with this place. As they get things figured out, it will get better. As it stands, in order of service: Soup is delicious; salad is dredged in so much ginger dressing it becomes soup; fried rice lacks the little bit of crunch you get when it’s taken off at just the right moment; vegetables were okay; two pieces of complimentary shrimp were perfect; steak and chicken were a bit tough; and the noodles that came at the end didn’t really fit. I’ll try it again some time – I can only guess it will get better.

The first thing I ask when ordering sushi is always whether the spicy tuna roll is whole tuna or minced and pre-mixed with spicy sauce. I have no idea why anybody would want sushi minced up, but this is one of those places that minces. As expected, it was blah. My follow-up question is whether they can make a spicy white tuna roll, since that is unlikely to be minced. This place doesn’t offer white tuna, either. The rest of the spicy rolls and veggie rolls we’ve ordered have all been excellent! The AAC gets rave reviews around here. We weren’t so impressed with one of the«very veggie» rolls that inexplicably included a deep-fried vegetable that made it unexpectedly not gluten-free. We’ve ordered carry-out sushi a handful of times from here and it’s legit. Miyako at Great Lakes Crossing and Makimoto on University are better. That’s where I picked up my sushi habit and they both have much better tuna rolls. Considering tuna is such a staple in sushi, it’s surprising more places don’t get it right.
