Hopson plantation/Shack up inn is THE place to stay in Clarksdale. Right off the famed hwy 61, it’s a throwback to the 1930’s with their shacks. Right on the old train tracks, This place has more character than anything! The commisary & juke joint chapel have great music on weekends, and its onlty a 10 minute drive to Downtown Clarksdale. In fact, if you’re headed to Ground Zero Blues club(Morgan Freeman is co-owner) they will pick you up in a limo from the plantation(5 bucks a head). You may never even have to venture into downtown with so much going on at Hopson. I will be going back with my friends once a year. A new tradition has begun! P. S.- The owners of Hopson are the nicest couple you’ll ever meet. Extremely welcoming.

I didn’t find the blues music here that I was looking for, but I did find a wonderfully laid out joint that had live music and food and drink. The setting was decorated in a southern style and the venue was ideal for live music and large crowds. I would recommend coming here when they have music and getting a place at the Shack-up Inn that is located right behind.
