Our group was looking for something«light» to eat and we decided to give this place a try. As we wanted to eat«light» we were promptly seated at a table rather than the hibachi. Our drink order was taken care of promptly as well. I ordered the chirasi, my husband had the tuna platter, and the others ordered the hibachi chicken. We were pleased to find out that you didn’t need to sit at the hibachi table in order to have hibachi. Issue we had was drink refills. Our server gave me a refill and another person in our party asked for a refill. It took about 10 minutes. The server hadn’t bothered to check if anyone else needed a refill, which was disappointing as service had been great up until that point. As for décor, I liked the ceiling detail with the blue lighting. The floor in the bar area needed some TLC. Shockingly, one couple was seated at a table that had a 5 degree slant to the top.

Great food and good service, only complaint is they no longer serve bento boxes. Had shrimp dumpling and chicken tempura they were both great. We also ordered the sashimi deluxe which was also good.

For West Virginia, I think this is probably the best I have run into down here. I have been here about 10 times or so and have always got what was ordered and quality was always good. Prices are a bit high I think, but it isn’t like we have an ocean nearby to get fresh fish from for the sushi and sashimi. Overall, being from Jersey, I think it goes toe to toe with most of the other hibachi places I have been to. I’d say the only complaints I have had was the waitresses I have had there. I see them to bring drinks, take orders then bring checks. I guess I wasn’t really thirsty during the meal or anything… so if anything I’d say order an extra drink in advance. Or let it reflect on tips.

Get the hibachi meal and enjoy the show. And yeah, they throw food at your mouth but you can opt out – I am too old to play with my food. It was tasty and we enjoyed the family style seating around the grill. The ginger salad dressing is yummy, but the salad is all… iceberg lettuce. And guys? The sconces on your walls appear to be scorched. They are seriously dilapidated and in need of replacement.

We have went here a couple of times, wife got sick one time and the food etc. is over priced. We haven’t been back in about 4 years or so, really don’t plan on it either. For about the same level of food and cheaper, go to China Buffet

The only reason I give this restaurant a 4-star is because I think some of the prices could be lower. Their shogun special sushi roll is the BEST! It is sooo good, however, it(along with the other specialty rolls) is pretty expensive. Also, I don’t agree with how the prices of rice and noodles go up if you order it sushi(not hibachi where they cook it in front of you). You would think it would be the other way around and be more expensive to have someone cook it in front of you. oh well, the food is always amazing and the last two out of three times we’ve been there the service was really good! I would recommend this place to someone to someone looking for a different taste and style of food in the area.

Yep — it’s just like every other Shogun I’ve been to. It is what it is — lots of food if you get the hibachi(which we did). It was, however, the first one I’ve been to where they fling shrimp at your mouth??? What!?! Thank goodness I caught it on the first try(guess I have a big mouth) because I wouldn’t have wanted to keep doing that. Oh! And on the tip of the waitress we opted for noodles instead of fried rice — BIGMISTAKE. I couldn’t choke down more than 2 forkfuls… skip the noodles and go with the rice.

Well, eating sushi in West Virginia seemed like a questionable decision. However, there are very few non-chain restaurants in Clarksburg so I thought I’d give it a shot and surprisingly, I was not disappointed. The waitress was friendly and knowledgeable. She suggested the TNT roll which I got and loved! As a food enthusiast who has a love-hate relationship with sushi, this was a great choice!

Stay so far away from this place. Worst service we’ve ever had anywhere — they somehow forgot us in an empty open room while they BS’d by the door. Finally got up after 15 – 20 min with absolutely no contact to ask what the deal was. Ginger salad only had lettuce, vegetable tempura was three carrots slices and 6 broccoli heads. WTF. The sushi was marginal at best. So much potential as the only Japanese place in town and decent décor, all wasted…

I really enjoy their Bento Box lunches. Their vegetable tempura is excellent as is the ginger salad dressing. I’ve always found the service to be quite timely and without incident.

I liked the look of the place. Service was good. The show for the grill was good, but the food was horrible. Sushi was not good. I’ve been there twice and tried different things and none were good. Noodles were sweet and sticky. Did not enjoy.

07÷26÷10 2.5 stars! Lobby and bar/dining area was very bright and utilitarian– not very cozy. I found the space downright repulsive and my vision quickly searched for some beauty to redeem this sparsely-decorated room. Thankfully, the ornately-carved table and bench in the«lobby» provided some relief while we waited to be seated in the(very dim) main dining/teppanyaki room. Service here is very slow. Be sure to ask for anything you might need when your server approaches your table, because it’ll be a long, long while before you see her again(and we were only one of two tables there for the duration of our stay). However, when she did come by to answer questions and take our order, she was very eager to help and to retrieve the info from the kitchen if she couldn’t answer them immediately. I’d say the best part of our meal there, besides the sushi was the salad! [I can’t have«sushi,» or vinegared rice, anymore, so I can’t give an opinion(sorry!), but my sisters and Mom enjoyed it.] While everyone had the regular side salads that accompanied their bento boxes, I tried the asparagus salad, which was definitely everyone’s favorite, including my niece and nephew! The asparagus spears were blanched, so that they’d retain their crunch and fresh, green color, and placed on a simple salad composed of lettuce, cucumber, and carrot, except I can’t have cukes nor carrots, so mine was just a bed of lettuce and the asparagus, w/their homemade ginger dressing. Ohhh, the ginger dressing! It was so good that we all would’ve bought some to take home, but strangely, Shogun doesn’t package them in bottles, but instead in pint-sized plastic containers for take-out. Not very safe for airplane travel… The next best thing were the tempura veggies, w/the exception of the slices of sweet potato, which were partially-cooked and greasy. All the other veggies were really good, especially the broccoli! The steak and shrimp bento boxes that some in my party tried looked great, and the sushi sampler looked fresh. The soft-shelled crab app that I had for my main was very disappointing– two very small crabs, battered and fried. They were very greasy and so lean– there was more batter than meat. What a waste of $ 8. My sister and her kids love the steak bento and sushi here, so if I were to return w/them, I’d try a grilled steak entrée, but honestly, I’d sooner skip this place and go somewhere else.(The ginger dressing here is its saving glory, that’s for sure!)

A little bit expensive for the area but way cool. I don’t feel like I am just paying for food at Shogun. You are also paying for the awesome show. The chef’s are awesome. They are producing good tasting food and putting on a show. Most places can’t pull off the one and don’t even attempt the other. If you are willing to take your children out to a little bit pricey place my 6 year old thought this was the coolest restaraunt on the planet when I took her there.

The employees are a pleasure to be around and the price is reasonable for the amount of food you receive.

I have been here twice and both times it was terrible. The first time I went with my girlfriends and the the service was bad. The waitress was not very pleasant or friendly and she spilled my salad on me. I got the hibachi steak and the salad, soup, rice and steak were all just not good at all. I wasn’t planning on going back. However, I was convinced to return 2 weeks later and we had a rather large party but there were reservations. We were not seated for 1.5 hours after the time the reservations were made for. After we were seated we still ended up not even being able to order for another half hour and so then it was forever before we got any of our food. It was just as bad the second time as the first and I will definitely NEVER visit this place again. If you find yourself passing through and must have sushi don’t go here, go without until you get to a more cosmopolitan city like Morgantown(1 hour away!) OGAWA, HIBACHI, Fujiyama are all pretty good so go there

I definitely had better sushi but the teppanyaki side seemed more popular. The sushi was paper thin which means that you paying about $ 3 for mostly rice. The service on a Friday night was mediocre… tsk, tsk. If you find yourself passing through and must have sushi go here, otherwise do without until you get to a more cosmopolitan city like Pittsburgh(2 hours away!).
