The Coffee Pot appears to be a house that has been converted into a coffee shop. They have a parking lot on lot if you are arriving by car. There is a large wrap around porch with a handicap accessible ramp attached to one end. One could sit and enjoy the morning under the shade and amongst the plants at one of their numerous tables. If the weather drives you inside there are many seating options for you in air conditioned comfort. TV grating your nerves? Move to a different room! There is plenty of seating in this house turned coffee shop. Your seat will never be too far from a window. The windows provide plenty of sunlight to read or work by while giving your eyes a chance to wander. Perhaps the view is limited to a gas station, the police station, and a parking lot, but it has a certain small-town appeal. I found the people working the counter to be both pleasant and helpful. They reminded me of a hairstylist I had in central Illinois when I was working on my undergraduate. Great outlooks on life, a comfortable openness that makes you feel welcome and comfortable in their establishment. It’s the kind of vibe that only seems to exist in smaller towns. Inviting atmosphere and fantastic service aside, the only thing I ordered was a medium cup of drip coffee. I would have liked to try one of their baked goods but the pastry case was empty save a handful of lonely cupcakes. One of the women assured me that the case was normally brimming with baked goods. Unfortunately there had been a morning rush and they had just opened after a week long break and still stocking back up. The single cup of coffee would have to do. It didn’t. As I write this I am struggling to choke down this coffee down. I’m being slightly dramatic but I would rank this slightly below the cup that«America runs on» only I had to pay more for the mediocracy. I really wanted to like this coffee! Perhaps their food offerings more than make up for the swill. Maybe their espresso would be a better choice. I don’t think I’ll be back to find out though. At least not for the coffee.
