My mom and I took my daughter here for lunch on her birthday(last Saturday). I called ahead to confirm our reservation to find out that they no longer HAD our reservation! :(The person who answered the phone asked someone else and it turns out that even though it wasn’t written down, she did remember us making the reservation and would seat us… Turns out to be a good thing that I called ahead to verify because every seat in the place was full! The tea selection was decent, and the teas were delicious. I got the apricot decaf and it had little apricot cubes in it! My mom got the peach and it was very good. They also gave my daughter pink lemonade in her own little ceramic tea pot with a matching cup and saucer(bonus points to them for that!). They kept the tea pots hot there by putting them over a small flame — and they stayed VERY hot the whole time we were there. Service here overall was spotty, it was hard for us to get our waitress’ attention all the time, the food is only decent, not actually all that great, and the desserts are a joke. Additionally, the actual tea room is so ridiculously small that everyone is slightly cramped and the room is loud — — you can hear everything that everyone is saying because it’s impossible to be more than 1 table away from anyone else(that’s how small it is!). Our lunch was broccoli salad(which was delicious and unexpected), vegetable consumme soup(good), tea sandwiches(not good), fruit, and scones(decent). However, when we ordered dessert, our server told us that it was no problem, took our order for everything that we requested and when she came back told us that all their desserts were gone(the ones that we specifically ordered) and that this was what they had left and she put down a small plate of store bought cookies(and not great cookies, they looked like Keebler cookies out of the package). This was very disappointing and changed my entire view of the place… if they were going to use store bought cookies, they should have sent someone across the parking lot(!) to Trader Joes to pick up something that was at least a little bit appetizing… or she could have come back and just told us that they were out of the desserts that we asked for but had cookies(or something along those lines). Overall, good for my daughter’s bday, since she only turned 3 and she likes cookies(!), but not somewhere that I would want to make reservations for a baby shower or something really special like that…
