Mount Baldy Aquatics

For Claremont, selection of swim club /​team should be pretty straight-​forward.
If you want to be competitive: Claremont Club. Mt Baldy Aquatics has a more relaxed atmosphere (and attitude). I think it is more appropriately classified as a swim club, rather than a swim team. Kids just swim back and forth with a set routine, the coaches occasionally correct their form but it’s hard with the large number of children they have to watch. Mt Baldy Aquatics takes pretty much all comers. They say there’s a «test» to qualify for the team but as long as you can swim and not drown, you’ll be in… really. This leads to tons of kids in the club, which then leads to less individual attention.
If you don’t have time nor do you want to commit time: Mt Baldy Aquatics… from what I understand, swimming on the Claremont Club team will be a time commitment both for your child and yourself. The parents are required to volunteer a certain number of events, the children are expected to show up to a certain number of practices a week. Mt Baldy is much more flexible in that respect. You can be absent for months and come back without penalty, that’s why there’s typically dwindling number of kids in the winter.
If you are afraid of commitment: Mt Baldy Aquatics… no sign-​up fee, no booster fee… just pay monthly and go.
Mt Baldy Aquatics does have a relaxed atmosphere and the coaches care about these children but I just don’t see the «coaching» aspect too much.
