Claremont United Methodist Nursery School

This preschool is awesome! My five year old son and two year old daughter are both falling in love with learning because of this school. Every day teachers demonstrate that they care about my kids’ individual development while encouraging their social collaboration skills. The teachers at this school are role models to children and to adults alike. I have personally gained so many valuable parenting skills by observing the teachers interact with the kids. In addition, the preschool events bring children and parents together to build relationships and foster community. I couldn’t be happier with this preschool for my children.

My daughter attended The Preschool and was in Miss Lucy’s class for a year. The teachers constantly introduce new concepts and ideas. It encourages independent decision making and appeals to various learning styles. The children are never bored! The teachers are very patient and allow the children to explore at their own pace, but they have rules (hand washing, etc.) that all need to follow. Their philosophy is «learn by play» and it really works.
Their curriculum is based on children’s literature and sets children up for a lifetime love of learning. I am a college professor, so child development is not my gift, but it is absolutely theirs. The school does hold a lot of fundraisers and parent participation is required once a month, but they really seek to create a community, not just somewhere you go to drop your kids off. I would highly recommend this school to any parent who wants to see their child flourish and feel comfortable in their own skin.
For parents with multiple children, you have to sign your child in and out each day, so that is a consideration. I should disclose that I took my daughter out of The Preschool for monetary reasons and the fact that they do not explicitly teach writing. However, I really regret that decision. I should have known that my child’s education is worth everything. I am now on the waiting list to get her back in! :)
