This place reminds of the old school go to the doctor and they make you wait because they can.
1. In an effort to fully be informed I contacted the title company to do equal comparisons among the lending companies. The fees that ultimately ended up on my HUD did not match the list from the estimate. I was assured they were close enough and we’re just written differently, but I’m not sure why they would internally decide to give differing estimates and closing amounts.
2. They attempted to charge a fee that did not apply to me. They quickly removed in, but there were a few discrepancies that they later fixed. It showed a lack of attention to detail.
3. The wait: in this day and age I’m surprised this was not completed via mobile notary. My last purchase used a mobile notary and charged less fees. I showed up on-​time for my appointment and was made to wait before I could sign. I left work early and it was not easy to leave and it’s frustrating to be left just waiting when you make an appointment in advance.
First American is not the only title company in town. I suggest going elsewhere for the cost and convenience.
