Very very slow if you order the food on menu. I wait for almost 20min just to get a to go boa 生煎包. Unsatisfied about the waiting time.

Fast, cheap, convenient, and tasty, I can’t decide what’s to like here. The menu selection is huge, but the portion size is even bigger. We were astounded by the size of the bowls when our noodles arrived. You can bathe a baby inside one of these bowls, no kidding.

This place has the most bomb ass shen jian baos I’ve ever had in my life. $ 7.95 for a portion of eight large and delicious baos. Nowhere else I’ve had them even comes close. Every time I visit the Diamond Bar area, I have to come here. I dream about these shen jian baos. Shen Jian baos are kind of similar to xiao long baos because they have the savory broth inside. But they have much thicker skin and are much more of a substantial type of bao. You have to be careful when you eat them though, the soup inside is very hot and can burn you if you’re not careful. Actually, eating them is incredibly hard for me sometimes because the soup drips all over my shirt and my hands end up covered in shen jian bao soup. Whatever, it’s worth it! I haven’t had anything here besides the shen jian baos, but I’ve seen their giant portions of beef noodle soup here and would love to try that too. This place is so unassuming, but I assure you that it is worth going out of your way to come here and get a plate of their shen jian baos. Such a hidden gem!

A no frills Chinese restaurant that has both premade and made to order options. There’s plenty of seating so bring the whole squad! Sheng jian bao — While everyone and their moms rave about XLBs, my personal fave is it’s often overlooked cousin, the SJB, or pan-fried bao. They do it right at Kang Kang — Perfectly fried and crunchy on the bottom, and bursting with gelatinous soup on the inside. Paired with vinegar and slivers of ginger, this puts XLBs to shame. Pork XLB — Pretty solid here as well. The skin has the perfect thickness — not too doughy and not too delicate that it breaks with a touch. Definitely will be back here when I need to get my fix of my beloved SJB.

Love this place. Always come for their xiao long bao and their steamed egg. Their Singapore fried noodle is yummy too, though there isn’t as much curry flavor in that. Their kangkang wonton soup isn’t as good. Too fishy flavored for me.

I’ve ordered the beef noodle soup several time before. This time though, I noticed the soup was noticeably more yellow. I tasted the meat and drank some of the soup and it was obvious to me it tasted like curry. I also found an onion in the soup. Beef noodle soup isn’t supposed to have onions in it, but curry does. So it’s obvious to me they reused the beef from their curry dish and put them into their beef noodle soup. It tasted nasty and I am disgusted in how they’re cutting corners like this. I will never be coming to this place again.

They have the best sheng jian bao. The beef noodle come in a huge bowl, which is enough for two to share. Yes, the beef noodle soup is always good. It doesn’t taste like«curry» like the other Unilocal person has claimed.

If you’re on a diet, you can kiss it goodbye here. Seriously, the moment you enter all you see is food and giant menus spread across with the most enticing food ever! Come on who can pass up that plate of glistening pan fried pork bun or that stuffed beef roll? My eyes were bigger than my stomach and I literally wanted to order everything. They have a similar set up to panda express, where you can order combo plates. Except that they have a wider selection of choices and a more generous serving. They really pile it on and you won’t come out feeling unsatisfatied or hungry. Just be prepared for food coma. Also really great value(pretty cheap) and taste much more authentic than panda express. You can also order individual dishes like the noodle soup and pan fried pork buns. They are pricier though. I can’t say the qaulity is anything spectacular. Or that the interior design or customer service is out of the ordinary. Pretty much like a fast food joint. Great value and wide selection. Kept me full

Best sheng jian bao in LA. If you know another place with better ones, please message me privately. Also, I’ve been to the other Kang Kang food court in Alhambra and this one is 10x better! It’s newer, larger, has AC, a wider food selection that looks more fresh and abundant. We ordered shengjianbao, a 3-item combo with veggies and meat, and a Taiwanese shaved ice. I wish you could have the option of noodles instead of rice for the combo boxed lunched and I wish fresh fruit was available for the shaved ice instead of just jellos, jellys, beans, and canned fruit. But it’s ok because the ice is ribboned shaved milk which has a creamier texture. It’s got a cafeteria style setting, but it’s the only vendor in shop, there are no other vendors. Food court seems misleading, but who cares? Anyway, ample parking, no complaints here.

I normally go to the Alhambra location, but I happened to be in this area. This location is much larger and newer than Alhambra. The parking is also easier because it is located in a very large plaza next to Sam Ash. The shen Jian bao are excellent as always. However, I’m docking stars because this location seems way dirtier. I went off peak hours and half the tables were still disgusting and workers were standing around and not cleaning them. Also, unlike Alhambra the workers didn’t understand my order in cantonese at ALL, which happens as you go further east of 626. I had to switch to my heavily accented mandarin. Then I heard them gossip about it(I DO understand it). Not cool.

Definitely the best pan fried pork buns in the area that I’ve tried. Better than nearby places like Ding’s Garden or Little Shanghai. They don’t even seem that fresh and maybe they were previously frozen, but they still taste great! I like that the skin is nicely pan fried with and not too thick while the inside has just the right amount of juice and won’t make a mess squiring all over the place. However, when it comes to their XLBs, I would not recommend them. They did not taste good at all. They also looked sloppy and the soup inside had leaked out during steaming. I’d give them 4 stars if it weren’t for the XLBs. I’d still come back to eat their pan fried dumplings though.

— Locale Destination — It’s on E Gale Ave and Fullerton Rd(It’s kinda away from Fullerton Rd) in City of industry. It’s in a big shopping mall, right next to a coffee shop and an outlet big furniture shop. Ambiance: Quick service, simple, outdated. Service: Quick, friendly, English OK, Cleanness: «A» sign — however, table top was clean but the floor is kinda«Chinese» style clean — lots of bits still on the floor. Finger cross as usual hoping kitchen and food are clean ;p Payment: cash or Visa. Menu: — Lots of foods are in the warmers — you pick up to 4 items(comes with rice and soup) for under $ 7. Super cheap and big portions. — Many items on the wall above the warmer — made to order. From noodle to rice dishes. — Some drinks(tea, slushy etc.) and desserts(puddings and beans etc.). Cheap. — Gluttony Expedition — XLB: for around $ 7.50, this ain’t bad at all! I prefer a bit hotter temp, but it’s better than average for sure. Not bad — especially this type of quick service setting! Shanghai pan fried bao(#79): it’s basically a pan fried version of XLB. The bottom is crunchy, meat and soup inside! It’s very hot, so be careful when you eat — the soup will come out once you bite it! Very interesting and not bad! 8 pieces are good for 3 people. Around $ 7.50. Foods at the warmer: It’s just OK. Big portion(soup and big portion of rice), but obviously the menu on the wall(made to order ones) seems better than these. Beef ball: It’s big and they give you only 1 as «one item». OK. Vegetables: Kinda cold, seasoned ok. Ma po tofu: OK Mochi(rice cake): it wasn’t so fresh nor soft. The stuffing was kinda bland(custard cream, coconut sugar thing, and sweet beans). I prefer the ones at «Phoenix» to these($ 1.95 for 3). Cheap but not good. — Conqueror’s Deduction — Dim sum isn’t bad — for this quick service setting. The menu is vast. Price is very cheap. Portion is huge, but«Shau Mei Taiwanese Deli» in Rowland Heights got a better quality food in the warmers. They take cash and visa! I don’t mind trying items on the wall(made to order ones), not in the warmers.

OMG! They have the best SHENGJIANBAOS(I honestly have no idea how to say this in English) EVER! These fried little buns are filled with juice and flavor. In my opinion, they are better than xiaolongbaos. When you bite into it, the juice drips out so be careful because they are pipping hot! The sesame seeds and green onion pieces on top are perfect compliments as well! :) An order comes with 8 and can easily be shared between two people! Also, make sure you call in advance to order them because it takes over 10 minutes for them to make these fresh. I recommend you eat them there because it is so much better when they are hot! Other than the shengjianbaos, I also love the traditional taiwanese shaved ice at Kang Kang! You get to pick 3 or 4 items and its cheap! The rice balls are a must!

*2.5 Stars* Cheap, Chinese fast-food! This restaurant has an open-concept floor plan, with a surprisingly large dining area. As there were bits of food and trash leftover, the floor and tables could use a better, more consistent cleaning throughout the day. Chose to dine-in but still received styrofoam to-go boxes, plates and cups. They do offer complimentary hot tea. The Shanghai pan fried pork buns were freshly cooked and brought to the table separately. The pork buns were not melt in your mouth, wow-worthy as I had hoped for but they were decent. The dough was slightly crispy and cooked on the outside, while the meat was tender and juicy on the inside. Soup will come gushing out the second you bite into the buns so heed my warning! Each # item combo comes with a bowl of steamed rice and soup. The food is cheap and as always, you get what you pay for. I did not care for the taste and quality of the food. As I do not know how long the food had been sitting outside, I would stay away from the combo food in the to-go boxes. Unless I am craving the pan fried pork buns, I am not sure if I would come back here any time soon.

The menu here is expansive. The portions are huge and they offer you a fresh pot of hot tea at no additional cost. My sister and I stopped by to try their beef noodle soup and pan fried Shanghai pan fried pork buns. The beef noodle soup is humongous– it could probably feed 3 people. It is flavorful, the beef is tender, and the noodles are al dente. I scooped in additional chili paste to make it spicier, but it is a pretty solid beef noodle bowl. Those pan fried Shanghai pan fried pork buns are a whole other story. These little things are so good. So, so, so good. Slightly crisped and charred on the outside, and surprise! It’s actually a pork soup dumpling inside! With that said, be careful because I unknowingly bit into it and sprayed soup everywhere. Their togo food looked pretty good too and incredibly cheap. I would definitely come back for another order of the Shanghai pan fried pork buns and test out some of the other dishes.

Easily one of the most uniquely weird sensations I have ever had in my mouth… not quite good… but not quite bad… just really fu*king weird. DANDANNOODLE The noodles were standard, the minced pork was ok, the crushed peanuts and sesame gave it a unique sweetness, fresh scallions, but the chili oil and Sichuan pepper gave it such an unusual aftertaste that was not so much numbing but just awkwardly unenjoyable. You get a good serving size for the price so I didn’t even finish it. I decided to conduct a mini taste experiment with one of my coworkers and I gave her my leftovers without telling her what it was… her reply after she ate it was… «I’m so confused… what the hell did you do to my mouth?» Yeah, that’s what SHE said… literally.

Is this place a joke or what!!! I have no idea how this place has so many stars, considering I had a horrible experience here! My mom and I came here for lunch on a weekday. We both opted to order the 2-item combinations, which come with rice and soup. The set-up is cafeteria-style, so you basically go through a line and pick out what dishes you want. They have a ton of different dishes, so their selection is good… but the good things pretty much stop there. The dishes are mislabeled, the staff is unhelpful(even if you speak Chinese…), and the quality and taste of the food is extremely poor. I tried a very basic and classic pork dish, thinking there was absolutely no way they could botch it up. Well, they did. It tasted beyond awful — the food here tastes sour, expired, and is evidently made from the cheapest ingredients possible. Disgusting! I also ordered a boba, in the hopes that at least a milk tea could redeem and mask such atrocious food. Sadly, the boba was equally disgusting. Powdery, chalky, and tasted like it was made from a mix of some sort(think ovaltine). The tapioca pearls were stale, which is absolutely not surprising in the least, considering the food is clearly old and has been sitting out for awhile(who knows how long!!). On top of having cheap and crappy food, cleanliness is severely lacking here. The bathroom is completely unsanitary and so is the dining area. There’s no A/C in the entire restaurant and there were a ton of little gnats flying around all of the tables. Seriously a health hazard! Unless you want to end up in the emergency room from food poisoning and/or an unsafe environment, I highly recommend you skip this place and run the other way… stat!!!

STAYFARFARFARAWAY. I used to really like this establishment as it’s cheap, plenty of variety and decently sized. HOWEVER, I came on Saturday(10÷11÷14) for lunch and ordered the 3-item combo with brown rice(additional $ 0.50 charge). I only ate about 20% of my rice and 50% of my meal before I didn’t want anymore. I decided I would take the leftovers home. I flipped the rice bowl over to find some black blotches. I took it off without thinking anything at first but decided to take a closer look at what it was. WORMS. WORMS. WORMS. There were about 30 – 50 dead worms mixed in with my rice. This is a common thing when rice containers are not sealed properly!!! It was disguising a restaurant could actually serve this to their customers. I quickly went up to the lady who had helped me with my order behind the counter. I pointed out there were worms in my rice and she just brushed it off saying it was probably just at the bottom of the container … i’m sure this isn’t the first time they have received this complaint. She offered another bowl but HECKNO. I do not want anything else to do with this place. If you decide to come, I do hope you don’t encounter the same situation! BEWARE.

This place is the same branch as Shau May in Monterey Park so you already know what to order when you’re here … San Jeen Bao(Pan Fried Juicy Pork Buns)! Although the san jeen bao here isn’t quite as good as monterey park, it is still second to none in Rowland Heights and check this… this location is MUCH cleaner than the monterey park location. Maybe that explains it not being as tasty? Who knows. Note: For you n00bs that have never had the pork buns, DO take a bite of the top and drain the juice onto a spoon before you bite into it. Thank me later. 4 stars!
