The staff here was very helpful, despite being very busy and me being very difficult. I have never been to an Asian bakery before, so I had lots of questions and they answered all of them. The cakes are very light and not overly sweet like their American counterparts. Also very creative selections of flavors and types of treats. The café service was quick and uncomplicated. Tried the wintermelon milk tea with boba. Sweet and delicious!!! This is a great spot to stop if you’re interested in trying something new.

I usually come to this location or the one in Torrance to buy bread and pastries, but this is the only JJ location with a café. Basically, it’s Taiwanese breakfast and lunch/deli food. I tried the thick pork noodle soup and deep fried turnip cakes. The soup was okay. I felt it was too oily and heavy. Also, the portion, especially the noodles and pork, was on the smaller side. I killed it in 5 minutes and I’m not a fast or big eater. The consistency of the soup was spot on for a «thick» soup and few pieces of pork were tender. It had the right amount of cornstarch in it. The fried turnip cakes were quite good. It was served with a dash of red pepper flakes. The exterior of the cakes were crispy while the turnip was soft(almost like soft tofu). Service was quick and prompt. The bread and pastries here are 5-star in my opinion. The food is a 3-star, but I rounded up to 4 because of the delicious breads and pastries. The butter toast, pineapple bread, taro, and custard buns are my favorites.
