I arrived home from a trip in January to find that the front windshield of my car had been cracked, bummer! I went through all the proper motions of calling my insurance company, and discovered that I would need the whole window replaced. Knowing that I had a $ 250 deductible, I contacted Crystal Clear Glass, a company that willing/was able to come to me in Santa Rosa. I set up my appointment, and was feeling good about getting my repair taken care of, but it was when we got the the money bit of it all that the deal began to crumble(at least for me)… I asked Derek, with whom I was speaking, how much the job would cost. His reply was $ 250. I explained that I understood that was how much my deductible was, but wanted to know the total cost of the repair. He seemed confused. «How much would the job cost if I came to you without insurance», I said — hoping to make my simple question as clear as possible. He grunted, shuffled some papers around, and hesitated before answering. «$ 250». Ugh. «So break it down for me, how much is the total job, not just my deductible». The hesitation in Derek’s voice was starting to _piss_me_off_. «Well», he continues, «the labor is $ 100 and the window is $ 100.» Upon pointing out that this totals to $ 200, and not $ 250, Derek tried to tell me that«insurance discounts things, and uh it will still cost you $ 250.» _Anger_ I’m unsure if Crystal Clear felt that they could try to scam me because I am a woman, or if they run this kind of game on everyone — no matter, it’s plain unacceptable. DONOTUSETHISCOMPANY. Taking advantage of people because you can is just wrong. Needless to say, I cancelled my appointment with Crystal Clear Glass and took my business elsewhere.
