Bunning Bowman Ridley and Smith

I was introduced to BBRS through the investment group I work for. I was told that Bernard and Lesley Bunning were «the best» and after experiencing their firm for myself I now see why.

The atmosphere: A welcoming environment.
They appear to be a family owned and operated business, boosting 4 generations of CPA’s and tax specialists. There are always fresh cookies available in the lobby, which provides a sweet fix before discussing finances.
There were even two separate occasions when I needed help preparing documents for the investment group and Lesley helped me to complete them accurately without charging me for her billable time.

I normally do not write reviews, but I am so beside myself I feel that I have to warn people about this company.
My ex husband and I have been using them to do our taxes ever since they absorbed the company we had been using. We trust the woman who actually does our taxes and she has been doing them since 1998. We have been very good customers and have never had any problems. Our average return from them costs us about $ 650, which we were happy to pay to insure the quality of the work. We went to the office on Sunrise Blvd. no matter where we lived, driving from as far away as 45 minutes south of Livermore for six of those years because of our loyalty to the company and our tax preparer.
This year was a little different as my tax preparer became ill during tax season so she had to file an extention for me. I was called the week before last and was told the taxes were ready to pick up, as the deadline to file is October 15.
I went in last Thursday and picked up the taxes and the bill just as I have done every year since 1998 and thought nothing of it. Within a few minutes after leaving, however, I started getting phone calls from the office from the receptionist saying very calmly that she had made a mistake and would I please call in and make arrangements for payment as soon as possible. As I was driving home at the time and my earbud kept cutting out her calls to me kept dropping, but she did leave 2 messages.
When I got home I got busy and didn’t think about my cell phone in the bottom of my purse in the car until around 7 pm. I was surprised to see that there were 4 missed calls from that office. The two from the receptionist and two from a Leslie Bunning, which I have come to find out is one of the owners.
I have never met this woman before and I have never talked to her before. The very first message she leaves states that I have 5 minutes to call her or «we will dance and I guarantee it», said in a very threatening tone of voice. What? Apparently the receptionist made a mistake and was not to let me leave without taking a check or setting up a payment plan. This has never been the case before. I have always taken the bill with me and then mailed in the payment. Apparently I was supposed to know this was no longer how they do things and as a customer I got yelled at and threatened in the very first phone call made. I then got a second call with her saying MAYBE she was a bit harsh and was not being fair to me. Whatever. This woman TREATENED me for no good reason. If she had called in a calm tone of voice as asked me to call her I would have and apologized for the mix up.
As it stands now I will never use that company ever again especially after doing a google search and finding all kinds of information about this woman who the Sacramento Bee has called a Bulldog… I’d use a different word starting with a B myself… I also found out that she owns 64 domain names including
and 4 others starting with the number 4 and a whole bunch starting with the letter c which could be cannabis, but I would only know for sure if I paid $ 100 for that information which I don’t want to have to do right now.
