As a fellow localvore to any other localvores, stay away from this place. You will be doing yourself a favor by going to a real BBQ joint. This was the worst dining experience I’ve had. It all started out pleasant enough. Having wrapped up a karate practice we decided to head next door for grub. We were greeted by a very nice waitress and promptly sat down. She got our order and drinks. That’s when things turned to sour. After about 30 min of waiting we were informed the deep fryer had broken down. Instead of being polite and apologizing for the delay the waitress decided to bring out each of our dishes in 10 min intervals. Now keep in mind we had a 2 year old and 7 year old with us. It literally took an hour and half to get our food. Once the food got to us, it left much to be desired. The hush puppies looked like rabbit turds and the beef brisket was dry without flavor. The simple kids menu items were cold and mushy. God help the fries we got. Might as well handed me the potato to eat. I saw a table of 10 walk in and said a little prayer for them We decided to leave. The waitress brought over the bill and asked me to pay at the counter. She had the nerve to say«sorry about the service, but I can’t give you a discount» the meal was $ 48. I can easily say I will not be back or invite them to an event. Save your money and go to City BBQ. Update: The best thing about Woe is Me is that it’s closed.

Typical barbecue joint… better than City Barbecue in my opinion, but similar in price. Get the pulled pork, with the baked beans and corn pudding as your sides… AMAZING. Turns out they closed, it was good while it lasted. :(

Great southern food – as a vegetarian I stick to the sides and they are some of the best. Super nice owners and staff keep me coming back again and again.

I lowered the rating to 3 stars because they raised the prices and shrunk the portions. A sandwich and 2 small sides is now over $ 10!

Edit — sadly, they are no longer in business. Location, location, location — and timing. Too bad they couldn’t have held out for Jungle Jim’s to open. The food here is quite good, I’ve eaten here multiple times. The baked beans are nice and spicy, and strongly flavored with a not heat related certain spice — maybe coriander? The pulled pork is great, the corn pudding is just awesome, it’s definitely worth a trip. But there are a few problems that need to be addressed — they need to be more clear that the ½ rack of ribs are not baby back ribs. The picture with their on line menu is definitely a picture of baby backs, but what I got, and what’s pictured here from another user, are definitely not baby backs, they’re spare ribs. I like ‘em both, but spare ribs are sloppier, fattier, and chewier– a cheaper cut of meat really that some would argue is better for smoking. It’s would be in their best interest to be up front about this. Also, they come out in this slippery plastic carryout box. That’s cool in a way, because I couldn’t finish even the half rack, but it was so slippery I almost spilled the whole thing in my lap every time I tried to get some meat out, as the table is uncovered wood. And they need to provide wet wipes with the ribs. But these are relatively minor complaints, certainly not enough to keep me away for more than a week or two at a time :)

I found this spot on the Delta Dining website. I love it when I get free miles for eating and the suggestions never let me down. This has proved to be another winner for Delta miles. Its a great restaurant, kinda tucked away off 32 near Eastgate mall in a strip plaza next to a wedding boutique. The inside reminds me of a kitchen down south. Family photos all over the wall, knick knacks and games on the tables and counters– even a TV in a cubbard. The tables by the way are really nice and really big, I felt like I was at home. They have a drive through as well. They are open til 10:30pm on Saturdays even though the Delta Dining website says 9pm. I got take away for my friend and I. Rib and chicken combo, fried perch dinner and sweet tea. My sides were 7 cheese mac n cheese, corn pudding, green beans, collard greens and hush puppies. I ordered a slice of corn bread and slice of sweet potato pie but they forgot to pack it… or it got deleted from the original order since I changed the order like three times lol. The lady that took my order was nice, even refilled my drink for the road. The greens and green beans were ok, seasoned with vinegar I guess and a lil red pepper flakes cuz it had a kick. The corn pudding was ok, tasted like skillet creamed corn or fried cream corn but maybe that’s the same thing. The mac and cheese was UH-MAY-ZING, so good. Definitely not from a box like some restaurants. This was that good baked mac n cheese, not the stove top ones. Definitely taste the southern flavor. The hush puppies were great too and I know you are like, whats so special about hush puppies? These are special. Big. Crunchy. Yummy. The fish was good but for $ 7.50 I wish I got more than one piece since the sides were small, My friend said the chicken was ok, she will probably ask for no bbq sauce on it next time but she said the ribs were mmmmmmmmmmm(her exact words lol). I don’t think i saw her come up for air until she was done. She said they were juicy and meaty and flavorful even with the bbq sauce. The bbq sauce is homemade– actually all their sauces are. Two hot sauces and one bbq sauce. The«mild» hot sauce is HOT so I cant imagine the«hot» hot sauce. So here is why I give this place 5 stars even though I said the sides(minus the mac n cheese and hush puppies) were ok… Because it is a true, southern bbq restaurant. Everything is homemade and taste that way. Even the greens are real hand picked collards, not from a can like some places. I’ll definitely be coming back, especially with my boyfriend since he loves ribs. Also mom’s eat free on mothers day(dine-in only). Pretty awesome.
