My husband and I went to Thoma and Sutton Eye Care on Montgomery Rd. With our teenage son(age15). It was 3:28 when we walked in. As we walked in we were treated rather coldly. There was no kind greeting. The receptionist asked what was our reason for being there. My husband told her that we were there for our son’s eye appt. at 3:30. The receptionist then handed the clipboard of paperwork to my husband. My husband came over and sat down next to me and our son. As I began to fill out the paperwork(one form), the receptionist looks at me and said: «Your appt. was at 3:30 and we asked that you come in 15 minutes early, so that we can have all the paperwork already filled out before he goes into Dr. Bowman’s office. She leaves at 4pm.» I told her that I did not make the appt. and so I was not aware that I needed to be there 15 minutes before. The receptionist then said, «I left that message to you when I sent the appt. reminder message on your voicemail.» I didn’t get that message from her so I had no idea. It took me about 2 minutes to fill out his form so I honestly don’t understand her rudeness towards us. After the paperwork was filled out and turned in, we sat in the lobby area, as a mom and her 2 elementary age children walked in. They were treated completely opposite of how we were treated. The receptionist and another woman working in the eyeglass area – stood up, walked over, smiled and engaged in kind conversation with them. The receptionist even offered the boys and their mom some Reese’s peanut butter cups. They were treated with such kindness and warmth. After my son’s eyes were checked by Dr. Bowman – she walked out to the lobby to introduce herself. She then told us about our son’s exam and gave us his prescription. We told Dr. Bowman thank you very much and that we would not be staying to pick out eyeglasses at that time. As we got up to leave, the receptionist acted very fake(in front of Dr. Bowman) and told us to have a nice day, with a big smile on her face. My family(of 5) will not be going back and we’d will be sure to tell our friends and neighbors to avoid this place. We will go where we are treated kindly.
