This is one of America’s best choral festivals, and I’ve done many. Will blow your ears away.

When my mother first came to Cincinnati, she wasn’t impressed with the city itself, but was more impressed with a choral concert she went to see with the Cincinnati May Festival Chorus. She was shocked to see such a large audience for a choral concert. She decided to stay and has been singing with them for almost 30 years now! The May Festival is the oldest continuous choral festival in the western hemisphere(as my mother has said many times). The chorus sings a lot of the year, but they culminate the season at the end of May when they do marathon concerts for two weekends. They often sing with the symphony if a chorus is needed for a certain piece and they also sing at various events at locations across the city. In the summer, some return to also sing with Eric Kunzel and the Cincinnati Pops. The May Festival is an extremely talented group of singers. All of them are volunteers and it is really amazing how dedicated they all are. They sing just as well as any professional choir. They make their home in Music Hall downtown. If you haven’t seen the May Festival perform yet, you really need to go! It’s a local tradition that has been going on for hundreds of years and it really is in the heart of Cincinnati. Cincinnati is a true choral town. Didn’t you see Clash of the Choirs? Tickets for the end of May are decently priced!
