A great little bookstore in a unique location – it’s like a warren of small rooms filled with books – but unfortunately, it’s closing. The owner is retiring and looking to sell off the inventory. All books are 65% off until they close in August.

Significant Books has only Non-fiction titles I believe. At least, that’s the primary focus.
Significant Books is located on the second floor and it’s hard to notice from the street. There’s a door and they usually have a flag out when someone is in.
There are thousands, and thousands, and thousands of books (all are secondhand although most are like new). The shelves bow in many places from the sheer weight of books.
I first went to Significant Books in 2005 when I moved to Oakley. I’ve found great cook books, rare gardening books, texts in Hebrew (hard to find!) and first editions of out-of-print yoga books. My husband always browses the music section.
I think the shop is owned by a husband and wife team and if you pay by credit card, they have a minimum of $ 25.
This is seriously a wonderful bookstore. If you like to hunt then you will adore this place.
