Always busy but has some of the slowest unfriendly employees. Seen drug deals in the parking lot ever time i’ve shopped there

Living downtown I rarely ever need to drive but when I do I usually need to hit up a gas station. Unfortunately for us, this is the only gas station downtown. When my bf and I get in the car and realize oh no it’s gonna be one of those«absolutely have to get gas movements» we make this look at each other like«you’re it» for who has to deal with the scary gas station. In all my years living in the city this gas station is home to some of the worst population of panhandlers and mentally ill people I have ever dealt with. The panhandlers are aggressive and there are also sketchy people selling cd’s and shorts outside of the place. When you go to pay there is one person behind a giant glass plated box and that’s it. Also the prices are wayyy jacked up just because they can. Bottom line — don’t be stupid and fill up before you ever have to come here.

I’m not going to lie, this place is a bit terrifying! And it sucks, because it’s the only one close to downtown… really?! Why isn’t there another gas station downtown! There’s always some pretty shady characters walking around the parking lot, looking like there only purpose is to walk around parking lots looking shady, and there’s frequently this older, plump woman asking for money and food.(Really, if you’re hungry, there are places that give it to you free — we know you just want to get booze or drugs). Aside from the sketchy people, you know you’re at the wrong gas station, when the owners/attendants don’t feel safe to the point that they have their doors locked the whole time, and security payment things to get the money. Lastly, on more than one occasion, there have been times when they could not take my card at the pump and I had to go up there, pre-pay with a card, estimate how much gas I could take, and then go pump. And I didn’t get my Kroger discount once too — sad day for Steeber :(

I live downtown and avoid this place like the plague. EVERY time we get gas people are hounding us for money. They need a cop to run people off so we can actually use the only gas station downtown. ANNOYING.

Fortunately, I live downtown so I don’t have to fill up my car very often. Unfortunately, this is the only gas station we have down here. So – for existing, and for 90% of the time having pumps and credit card machines that work – they get 4 stars. Those of us who are familiar with the area are also familiar with the panhandling, but if you are new to the area I suggest you keep on truckin’ unless you are on dead empty. For the general nastiness of the surroundings, I give them one star. So it kind of averages out to two stars. Chances are good that you are going to be safe as long as you aren’t participating in some nefarious activity, so don’t be so alarmed at the sketchiness. It’s just kind of exhausting to fend off the folks asking for money, and more often than not I have to dodge vomit on the ground here. But again, if you need gas and you are downtown, this is your option, and it could be way worse.

Came here on Friday after realizing I was almost out of gas and had a drive back home. I pulled up after midnight and yes there are people selling DVDs and Cd’s in the parking lot and the parking lot is full of garbage and people asking for money. When I was pumping my gas, some homeless lady came up to the car and asked for money for some of the best fried chicken right across the street, I told her sorry and then she asked for a smoke and since I don’t smoke said sorry and then she left me alone.

Never, EVER go to this gas station. The Shell station on Liberty is a bizarre bazaar of unlicensed sidewalk salespersons, unsolicited solicitors, stereos blaring as loud as possible & people asking for money so they can purchase alcohol and/or lottery tickets. This location does have gas. It tends to be priced higher than suburban locations. I suggest Norwood UDFs for the best local gas prices. To pay & purchase things at the«convenience» store, you pay through a glass window from the OUTSIDEOFTHEBUILDING. I know, it’s insane. There is also a Fifth Third ATM& a car wash(don’t bother) on site. Do not go to locations like this. The prices are bad, customer service non-existent & loiterers are likely to harass. This establishment is located simply to overprice gas & funnel alcohol & lottery tickets into a community that can afford them least. Do not support these types of businesses & certainly do not support this one.

Sometimes a long wait because you can’t go in, especially bad in the winter

I know this place looks a bit sketchy. Sketchier still during the summer than when it is cold outside, with people setting up tables on the sidewalks to sell a variety of items. But looks can be deceiving, just pull on in and top off your tank! There aren’t many places to get fuel when you’re in the city and realize you’re running on empty. The pumps are clean, I’ve never found one out of order, and the credit card payment apparatuses are as nice and shiny as at any Shell station. If you need to pay cash, or purchase an item, this gas station is a bit different from others around. Everything is ordered and paid for from through a window. There is a decent selection of drinks, snacks, and cigarettes(if that’s your thing), with all items in the store arranged in a way that you can see everything through the windows. So is this a high class place to refuel your tank? Well, no. But is it a clean, decent, «A-OK» place to stop in when you’re in the city and realize you forgot to fuel up.
