I really wanted to love this park, since it’s so close to where I live, but it left me wanting much more. First, the park is well-overgrown with honeysuckle. I know it’s an invasive species, but they need to manage it at least a little. It was overgrowing the path, the benches and picnic tables in some places. Also, as I walked around, I must have spotted over a dozen condom wrappers and other trash littered across the path. Along with that, I saw an old, worn pair of panties hanging from a picnic table. I won’t be eating anything at THAT table anytime soon. There needs to be some sort of park monitoring or locked parking lot after dark to manage this. Then, as I continued down the path, I approached the 3rd bridge along the path, the steps and the first 5 planks were broken(or vandalized), prematurely ending my walk. In short, save your time. Go to Caldwell park instead. It’s less than a mile away and is a world apart. Hopefully the park service does something about this. I’ll check back at at the park periodically, and will happily update my review if it deserves it.

While I only came here if Caldwell Nature Center(right down the street) was crowded, I’ve gotta say it has its own appeal. It’s not managed as well as Caldwell, so the trails can get a little overgrown in the summer and every picnic bench is falling apart, but it’s still really relaxing to walk through. There are about 1.5 miles of trails, but they split off, so if you’re going to walk all of it, you’ll have to double back for long stretches. Oh, and the trails aren’t in a loop like Caldwell– they just dead end. So you’ll have to turn around no matter what trail you take.
