Their dumpling soup is everything. First time I ventured away from the Air Force Rolls and I am nothing less than pleased !

A few months back, we stopped here for dinner after going to the Cincinnati zoo, like we normally do after going to the zoo. Hubby ordered chicken Bibimbop. He had such horrible food poisoning that night and the next day, he ended up in the Emergency room at Mercy Anderson. The vomiting was so bad that he was getting dangerously low on potassium. I called the Cincinnati health dept. They went out for an investigation. I read the report online and they hade numerous violations including handling raw meat over prepared foods. I cringe every time I drive past there. it’s unfortunate bec/it had been a regular place for us. In reality, food poisoning probably doesn’t happen that often there, but I would suggest that you stick to cooked foods that come out steaming hot. Although Bibimbop is «cooked», it’s more like an assembled food that has been previously cooked. So beware.

Inept service. Dirty tables and floor. Sorry, but any HINT of dirt, specks, schmutz in a sushi restaurant and I’m skeeved out. THERE’S TOOMUCHATSTAKEIT’S RAWFISHFORCHRISSAKE. All that, plus expensive prices and parking’s a cluster migraine. Yeah… no.

This place is excellent. The alcohol flows and is cheap. The food is amazing and also half price. You must get the kang jeong or Sunday morning roll. The workers and managers are excellent and the manager Peter is a real Korean badass. Even the bartender Mitch is a true American. Oh and the bun-headed bouncer is soft but still a nice guy.

We should have turned around when we saw the suspicious looking puddle on the floor of the entrance and crushed food on the floor as well. There were two hostesses chatting with each other, that didn’t seem to notice the mess on the floor. The appetizer was good but the sushi and soup were beyond questionable. The sushi was terrible. And the soup was weird. Don’t waste your money… We were sketched out the whole time. The waitress was very nice, but not worth it to go back. Two thumbs down!

Mr. Sushi is another Clifton restaurant to let me down for a variety of reasons. First, the place is not equipped to handle groups. With a party of eight, we were seated in a side room away from the main booths and tables(I think the designated private dining area). This area was undecorated and contained a few tables and random chairs. Half of it was empty. To make matters worse, it was freezing. We wore our winter coats throughout dinner but everyone was still shivering. It makes me think that the room was originally built to be storage for the vendor versus a place for customers. Second, the food was disappointing. I am not a big sushi person, so when visiting Asian restaurants, I tend to order off the entrée menu. At Mr. Sushi, I ordered a Grilled Chicken Teriyaki Salad and was served a bowl of originally bagged, chopped lettuce with a cold, thinly sliced grilled chicken on top and a cup of teriyaki sauce on the side. Altogether, the presentation looked boring, sad, and completely unappetizing. It was also way overpriced at $ 8. Finally, the service is just not there. Our party was on a tight schedule, which we communicated to our server prior to ordering. Our food took around 20 minutes to come, and when it was served, we asked for our checks and paid. Our server, however, disappeared after collecting our bills and cash/cards, and did not return for another 20 minutes. Without any more flexibility in our schedule to wait for her to come back, we got up and flagged her down to get our receipts. If visiting with a smaller group and sticking to the sushi menu, I think Mr. Sushi would be a completely different experience for some, but I am doubtful I will attempt to revisit it anytime soon.

I can’t believe this place only has 3.5 stars. The food here is incredible, especially for the price. Since opening, this place has been my go-to sushi spot. So we’ll start with that. The sushi is always half off, so that’s a plus. My absolute favorite roll here is the citrus salmon. The slice of lemon makes this roll incredibly refreshing! Sunday morning, a favorite in many restaurants, always delivers here. The hawaiian roll is also delicious! The fried calamri appetizer is so crispy, and comes with a yummy, sweet dipping sauce that I could literally drink! The crispy green beans are also great! As for the other stuff on the menu… I haven’t had much of it, but what I have sampled was tasty. The chicken katsu is a favorite of my husband. And my kids always share a chicken/shrimp hibachi dinner. That isn’t exactly on the menu, but you can request it. My son likes shrimp and my daughter likes chicken, but they aren’t big enough for their own orders. The only thing I don’t like here is the seaweed salad. I don’t know what it is, but something tastes off. We’ve moved out of town, but we also stop in when we’re back visiting family. I haven’t had better sushi for the price! Are there better sushi places? Yeah, but not for this price. Does it taste like authentic Japanese sushi? Don’t know, haven’t had it. But that’s not what I am comparing it to. You compare this to any sushi place, and I have been to plenty around the country, and it is topnotch.

I love Mr. Sushi… Like no really, I. LOVE. Mr. Sushi… But the manager Ethan is extremely rude. If you’re not a young college girl, he litetally has no interest in even acknowledging that you’re in the establishment. Total disgrace. I’ll still come here, that’s the sad part. The servers are nice, the food is amazing… The weirdest part is that he’s been here on every occasion that I’ve been here! I’ve even met the owner on previous visits in this managers presence! The owner is such a great guy! So baffled…

I came here with my sister, a student at the local college, because it was nearly directly across from her dorm. We were in want of sushi, so what’s more perfect than seeing«Mr. Sushi?» First off, we waited in the foyer for a good 10 minutes before anyone acknowledged our existence. No one greeted us, no one told us that it’d «be a minute.» There were three employees who directly looked us in the eye and still made their merry way off doing whatever it was they were doing. What. The. Eff. I should’ve known. After waiting between 10 and 15 minutes, we were seated. Sister and I ordered within 10 minutes of sitting, but the party behind us received their food before us! When we did get our food, it was decent but poor customer put real disdain in my mouth. After scarfing down three rolls of half-off sushi, it took another 10 minutes to flag down our reluctant server who, after realizing my annoyance, got us our check in minutes. I would try this place again just because I think my family and I eat sushi often enough and its proximity to UC is perfect. But honestly, the waitstaff here sucks. This waitress is lucky I even tipped her. I still boil thinking of the poor customer service even now, weeks– almost a month– later.

This location is my go to! Sushi is always good, for half price! It is a bit lacking in cleanliness and spilled water on floor or table all the time. BUT the food is good. The Korean dishes are also very flavorful and nomz-y as well. They can be bit slow when its busy, but again all that matters is consistency and the food! Always satisfied when I eat here! Their Kimchi Ji Ge is superb good! I never get that anywhere because its a disappointment but not here! This place was the first time I tried the sweet potato roll, and it was mind blowing good! The Citrus Salmon roll is my all time fave. The thinly cut lemons really compliment the salmon and and the sushi rice. They don’t even cheat you with the amount on the inside of the rolls – except some of the end pieces. Sushi isn’t totally tight all the time, but thats only when their busy. Quality goes down when they get busy. Pick and choose when to go in.

Food — — - For reference, what I ordered was the dolsot bibimbap and two pieces of tuna nigiri sushi. The bibimbap was pretty good in regards to taste. The meat that was there tasted good and the red pepper sauce was just right and had a great taste to it. However, I was a bit disappointed with it for a few reasons: 1. No kimchi — what kind of Korean dish doesn’t include kimchi? 2. The majority of it was rice and mushrooms, the meat content was rather low. When I was in Korea it was maybe 30% rice, the rest vegetables/mushrooms and meat, here at Mr. Sushi it was more like 60% rice, 30% mushroom, 10% everything else. 3. Price was high, and I had to pay an extra $ 2 to get it cooked in a stone bowl as it should be cooked. It was $ 12 total for the bibimbap, which I could easily get for about $ 7 in Korea. For the sushi it was your pretty standard American sushi fare with a couple problems: 1. No wasabi between the fish and the rice… this is basic sushi stuff guys come on. Without the wasabi the fish falls off the rice when you go to dip it in the soy. 2. Even at «half price» this stuff is expensive, and the quality does not justify the cost. For what you get you’re paying twice the cost of the exact same thing, made fresh, in Tokyo.(100円 for 2 tuna nigiri sushi at 回転寿司 compared to $ 3.25 for the same here, at about the same quality/maybe higher quality) — — — – Service — No complaints here — — — – Overall — Good to get a sushi/korean food fix, but don’t expect authenticity(if you’re accustomed to it), or cheap.

This place is awesome! 50% of all rolls if you dine in. We got 8 rolls, a noodle dish, and an app for only 53 dollars. The rolls are good for its price and the service is quick. We got our rolls less than 15 min of ordering! If you’re around UC campus, I highly recommend dining in!

I paid $ 12 for two half-priced rolls and a Mad Tree Psychopathy. I laughed when I received my bill because it was so cheap. The quality of the roll isn’t the best, and they are a bit smaller than what I would consider a normal size roll, but refer to the above mentioned price. The service was just fine. I didn’t get sick after eating here, so I will be back.

Mr. Sushi is a newer place near UC and it is great. Good size place and comfortable seating. They have a bar with drink specials on certain days(half off beer, $ 5 bombs, etc) and even if you aren’t eating it’s a good place to hang out and drink. As for food– I don’t like sushi but my friends say the sushi is really good. Plus– it’s always half off when you dine in. For people who don’t want sushi, they have a menu with other items such as fried rice and hibachi. The chicken fried rice is amazing. It is $ 10 which I think is pricy but I pay it so that should tell you that it’s good. I have always had good service. Sometimes it takes awhile for the servers to come refill water and bring sauces but that happens everywhere. Would definitely recommend for the college crowd around Clifton!

They have ½ off beer on Thursdays. And half off sushi too. The sushi is decent to great. The seaweed salad was amazing I order 2 and for $ 4 dollars I could have order a 3rd plate. 22 oz Sapporo draft for $ 2.50. Yes please I think I’ll check this place out again on a Thursday. Enjoy!

This is a review of their lunch, as I have not been there for dinner yet. I had the Spicy Chicken Bento Box. It came out hot and great and WAY bigger than I expected! You do not need to order anything else with it… truly it is enormous! It came with the chicken, rice, salad with that great spicy Asian dressing, 4 pieces of a spicy tuna roll, a large chicken wing, a couple pieces of tempura veggies and a piece of tempura shrimp. It was tons of food and well worth the cost! I also ordered(before i knew how big my entrée was going to be) a spicy tuna roll. It is a pretty typical roll and had a good amount of spice to it, which is not always the case. Their sushi is always half price, which sometimes can be scary, but everything seemed to be fresh and I will be coming back to try more of their rolls. Overall, I thought this was a great place for lunch and it was very easy to get in and out in a reasonable amount of time. Reasonable Prices — above average food — 3 stars in my book.

I’ve yet to try an outstanding sushi restaurant in Cincinnati because well, we are in Cincinnati and I’m pretty sure high quality sushi-grade fish is hard to come by in Ohio. so yes, their sushi is just about as good as the other nearby sushi joints. However, I am basing my review off of their hot food. and their kimchi jigae(kimchi soup) is soooo delicious and their hot stone bibimbap never disappoints, either. Their meal portions are pretty large, which make the prices very reasonable. The last time I went, the waitress even offered us complimentary kimchi and pickled radish and was also very helpful throughout our meal. I know there are several negative reviews on the sushi, but at least give the Korean food a chance if you are a fan of Korean cuisine.

I was really hoping to like this place and during our meal we kept wanting to make excuses for them, but when it comes down to it my experience here was just not good. The one thing this place has going for it is the atmosphere. It’s dark and dim lit. Decked out in green and chocolate espresso finishes. The music is tranquil and the space is inviting, and also brand new. Our server was smiley and friendly whenever she did come around, but my guess is that she has never waited tables in her life. There were only two servers for the entire restaurant and they were awful. When our food came we didn’t even have plates and silverware and our appetizer eventually got cold. She also never checked back to see if we needed anything(which we often did since nothing was on the table for us to start with. No sushi menu and soy sauce was empty) I felt so annoyed and this added to the demise of our experience. It is the job of the restaurant owner/manager to make sure that they have enough staff and that they are well trained. Now onto the food. We ordered the«jalapeño popper» style tempura to start. Since we did not have any utensils it eventually got cold and was not good. The jalapeño was pretty much raw and had an unpleasant texture. For sushi, we ordered: — hot mamma:(Sounded good in theory — a mixture of three fish with srirracha, red chili pasta, and scallions. But that pre made mixture of mush was the only thing in the roll and it was horrifying) — spicy shrimp: our favorite because well, how can you screw this up? — spicy tuna: Again mush, no freshness and barely and flavor or texture. — sunday morning roll: the flavors were good, but the way it was cut made it difficult to eat. We were extremely disappointed in the sushi and will not go back. The quality of ingredients here are one of the lowest I have experienced in the plethora of Cincinnati sushi joints and for some reason the raw rolls were not served chilled. They were almost warm and it was very unpleasant. I will add that they were presented beautifully, the chef does have some nice knife skillzz. Reliving this experience makes me want to wake up from a bad dream. And just to wrap things up nicely here, if you have ‘HALFPRICESUSHIALLDAYEVERYDAY’ you just have marked up sushi that is now regularly priced/cheap sushi. Stop saying that! End rant.
