I recently had a facial with Olivia. It was amazing. My skin was glowing when I walked out. I highly recommend Olivia for your facials!

Nice salon, average manicures, had a coupon which would make my mani $ 20 but they would not take it. Ended up paying $ 40 tip included and nail polish cracked the next day

Kendra gives an amazing facial. She uses tr right amount of pressure and is very thorough. If I was reviewing this place on her alone I would give 5 stars. But the downside– this is more of a salon and not so much a spa, but their prices are on the high side so it’s kinda a bummer. There is no relaxation area, just a normal waiting room. There are not lockers or showers, just changed in your room and there’s a basic stand up shower in the room your having service done. But I don’t think anyone uses it. The ambiance is lacking. The prices are expensive, but Kendra is really good so I go back.

Mitchell’s has a lot of services and a few good hairdressers but their product return policy is very disappointing. Their hairdressers recommend products and the salon doesn’t even do full returns– only store credit and after two weeks not even that. For someone who comes regularly over years and is a return customer it’s very disappointing that I would be sold a product recommended by their staff for $ 40 that I don’t like and not even be given a store credit. Really poor customer policy! Next time I will be rethinking finding a new salon and hairdresser and go to the actual spa for massages.

Mila is a fabulous stylist(5 stars) at the Hyde Park/Madison Rd/Norwood/Oakley or whatever location best describes this iteration of the Mitchell’s salon and day spa. I’ve been at various other M. locations, and they keep good records of all of your services across locations. She had carefully reviewed two years of my service record, noticed that I had made several changes, and asked what I’d like to do this visit. She listened, asked questions and listened some more. She noticed some very subtle changes that a last-minute-fill-in pro stylist made, and inquired if I wanted to keep with the direction of that cut. No ego, no drama; I got the sense she really just wanted me to be happy with my cut. And color. Mila did my color retouch in record time, while holding a pleasant conversation and without any mess. My biggest praise is how Mila texturized my hair cut exactly how it needed to be in order to lay flat without losing length.(If you have thick hair, you can relate). It is seriously the best hair cut and color I’ve had in the last 10 years. Thanks Mila!

I have been going here for a few years now and I am very happy with this shop. I am 69 and got the best cut of my entire life with Katie. She is a marvelous hair dresser and a wonderful person. I feel I always get treated like VIP and that’s so nice. However, I do have a problem with this being called Hyde Park. It is owned by the City of Norwood and as a lifelong resident of Norwood, I feel insulted by this. There is nothing wrong with Norwood. I feel like by saying the shop is in Hyde Park that the owner must have a negative opinion of Norwood. There are a lot of wonderful people that live in Norwood. If I didn’t love my hairdresser I would consider not going here because of this. I think if you must include the Hyde Park name then you should at least say the shop is located in the Norwood/Hyde Park area.

I go to the Hyde Park location for my acrylic nails. I always ask for Chimere… she’s the best! The salon itself is always clean and the staff have always been nice and helpful. What I like about Mitchell’s over other nail salons, is they don’t use those drill tools when doing acrylic nails. Everything is done by hand, which is much gentler than the electric tools and don’t leave my fingernails sore for days after. Mitchell’s is a nice place but, in all honesty, if Chimere ever left and went somewhere else, I’d follow her there. :)

I had a massage with Stacey in TriCounty and she was phenomenal. I had a headache for five days and nothing would help me get rid of it. I left feeling relaxed and headache free and the headache did not come back. I highly recommend you give her a visit.

Visited the Kenwood location this week. Megan was my stylist and she did a great job. She listened to what I wanted and then offered a suggestion or two to enhance the cut. The salon is very clean and relaxing, even though they were busy. I was really pleased with the entire experience — and my hair cut!

For posterity’s sake, I’ll leave my original review of Mitchell’s below. Back in November I got a pretty bad haircut there and posted that review on Unilocal. I was contacted by a salon manager at Mitchell’s a few days later who personally apologized and offered to bring me back in to ‘make it right’. And they did! Last night I got a great haircut from one of their salon directors — Morgan. She was super nice, very skilled, and took her time to do a great job. I’d definitely recommend Morgan for anyone looking for a new hairdresser. I really like the way my hair looks, and plan to head back again. I’m upping the rating to five stars because the second haircut was great, and I was genuinely surprised by the way their management handled the situation. I think they’re the first business I’ve ever seen go out of their way to take me from unsatisfied customer to happy customer(and kudos for being with it enough to check your Unilocal reviews)! A lot of businesses these days just dismiss customer criticism, but I feel like I was listened to and like Mitchell’s actually cared. Most people would probably balk at the price — the director level haircuts are almost fifty bucks for guys. And given that it’s Mitchell’s, you’re already paying a premium just for the entry level stylists over other places. But, I have a really difficult combination of thick hair and cowlicks, so I tend to view a good haircut as something worth paying for. And, they made good on their promise of delivering better service than the average shop. So boom, there it is. ORIGINALREVIEW: I chose this place to get a test haircut before my December wedding. I figured going up the price scale to this salon would ensure the hairdresser would take her time and give me a decent scissor cut(call me picky but I don’t like clippers). The outcome was not good. After multiple explanations of how my hair cannot be cut too short in some places lest it stick out(damn cowlicks), and how I prefer the person blend evenly with scissors, she took everything down to an even ¾ inch, cut it super unevenly down the sides and back, and buzzed the neckline up too high. I haven’t been told«Wow, that’s a bad haircut» since I stopped going to Great Clips ten years ago. No less than three people have said that in the past two weeks. Most mornings, my hair sticks out on the sides and back, like I didn’t care to fix my bed head or take a shower. Nothing I can do about it, even if I put pomade or spiking glue on it. I feel like I could have gotten the same quality cut at GC. Oh well. The hairdresser earns a star back for being nice and conversational.

To be perfectly honest, I have to stop myself from cringing every time I enter Mitchell’s in Hyde Park. The location is seriously convenient to my house in Norwood so I do visit relatively often(also because it’s easy to secure a last-minute appointment), but the attitudes of the reception staff and some of the stylists/technicians at Mitchell’s is something I could really do without. I assume that the snobbery that seems to define the atmosphere of this Mitchell’s Salon branch is an attempt by the staff to put their few ritzy and glamorous Hyde Park customers at ease. Let’s be honest, though, the salon sits between one small, wealthy neighborhood(Hyde Park) and two significantly less affluent areas(Oakley and Norwood)…I’d be willing to bet that the majority of Mitchell’s customers are more«average» than«elite» consumers, and those who make up the first group deserve to be treated in the same way that those in the latter group are. I do my best to overlook feeling somewhat snubbed when I enter the salon(I look like a college student… not someone important, I guess) simply because I have never been let down, service-wise, by anyone at Mitchell’s. I guess I’ll sacrifice anything to guarantee the perfect shade of blonde…
