Maudie’s

I’ve always known that there was a bar above Cincy by the Slice, but never ventured up there until Halloween this year. While smushed against the window at the Japps Annex, I saw what looked to be a monster mash dance party comprised of Wild Things from Where The Wild Things Are in the window above and across from me. Obviously I had to investigate! What I found was a tiny dive bar with a $ 5 beer and a shot special and a good sized dance floor with two costumed monsters at the helm of the turntables. It made for a wonderful, memorable, much less crowded but still completely epic Halloween dance party! Special shout out to Forealism Tribe, the DJs who provided a wonderful soundtrack to the night.

Maudie’s is kind of the perfect place to go in OTR. They have amazing pizza downstairs, and really good drink deals. They also support local artists, and have a place for live music upstairs. It has a really chill vibe compared to most of the bars around there. If you’re looking to go OTR, but you’re not sure if you have the energy for Japps or Neons, it’s the perfect place. ¹⁰⁄₁₀.
