Does Kroger really own and operate this store? The parking lot is dirty and covered with trash. There are people working on cars in the parking lot. The inside of the store is dirty and poorly maintained. Lots of employees standing around socializing. I waited 10 minutes for someone to show up behind the deli counter. Several customers showed up, waited several minutes and left. I asked the gentleman in the backroom if anyone worked there and he yelled at me and said he was breading the chicken and he wasn’t coming out. He followed up with the comment, «I just told you!» Very poor customer service, with a dysfunctional employee culture. Place looks like some third world store. I won’t return to this store.

The store is clean and everything is well displayed. I was shopping here for a graduation party and found everything I needed. The only complaint: they do not have cheese deli plates and they offer only Kroger brand sliced cheese, which was a pity, but not a drama. I was particularly happy with the Bakery Dpt. They made such a beautiful cake for us and even made some improvements on the edible print to make it look PERFECT! The cake was a hit and the edible print of the protein structure looked amazing! Will order there again for the next defense in our lab!

This Kroger is AWESOME. I had been going down to Newport because a number of people told me that was the place to shop, and then I finally tried my neighborhood grocery and am I glad I did. — clean — ORGANIZED! I had no trouble finding anything on a very extensive grocery list. The aisles are clearly marked and categories of items are all in one place(e.g.: all the cheese is in one space, not divided among three sections of the store). — helpful employees — just the right size: they had everything I needed, including meat, produce, some more exotic things, over-the-counter meds, and housekeeping supplies, but I didn’t need to walk a proverbial two miles between items. The milk is right next to the butter, right next to the cheese, etc. — A month’s worth of groceries obtained in 45 minutes. Definitely a record since I moved here.

I am obsessed with this store. Disclaimer — this is not the best store for high-end groceries. But since I’m shopping on a budget, primarily produce and Kroger brand food, that doesn’t affect me. The staff are friendly, the produce section is on par with any other medium-sized Kroger and the store is compact enough that you don’t spend an hour trying to find things. One added benefit is that you can buy Metro passes at the customer service desk. I usually get the $ 10 cards, which is super convenient. It’s the perfect store for people in Mt Adams and Walnut Hills — traffic is light and there are always spots available in the parking lot. I bike from Mt Adams. It’s no fun going up the hill, but then I can coast from Eden Park into Mt Adams on my way home. Even though there aren’t any bike racks, there are plenty of secure places to lock your bike in front of the store while you shop. Also, lots of bus service, including the 1, 4, 11 and 31.

As there hasn’t been a review as of 2015, I wanted to give this Kroger serious props for the efforts they have made to diversify the stores inventory. Now if you have any certain requests for any items you can let them know and they keep an eye out for frequently requested products. The only thing I find myself going to the Hyde Park Kroger for is fresh cuts of meat.

I was a little wary about trying out this grocery store for the first time because I’ve heard mixed reviews of the offerings. I went here with a pretty«normal» grocery list with a few wildcards to see how it went. I was able to get 90% of the stuff off my list. I should note that I didn’t have much produce on here — only what I forgot to buy at Findlay Market. The problem wildcards were a can of coconut milk(nowhere to be found), a head of cauliflower(there were 2 in the produce area but they were sad looking, so I got a bag of frozen cauliflower pieces), and a 6-pack of good beer(slim pickings — I went with Sam Adams. They also had a couple packs of Christian Moerlein OTR). The staff was friendly and nice. My birthday is right after Christmas, and after carding me, the cashier handed it back and said«Here you go, Christmas baby!» That was sweet. The parking lot is a little weird, it’s sort of difficult to find where to get in/out of if you’re coming off on McMillan(enter just past the CVS). While this isn’t the fanciest Krogers(I think Hyde Park takes the prize on that one), this is a totally fine Krogers if you have a very normal grocery list. I think it has a ton of potential, and if they added a bit better produce section and a wider variety of beer, I’d probably bump my review up to 4 stars.

This Kroger is lacking in product availability(probably due to it’s location), but the staff is friendly, helpful and full of personality. I wish Kroger would do a major overhaul on this store. As a local I’d definitely make it my main market if they did.

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and selection of fresh produce, meat, and dairy. I had been making the drive up to the Kroger on Kenard, but now that I’ve found this one, I’m happy to shop here.

Yes you are reading this right, a four star review for the Kroger in Walnut Hills. No I did not fall and hit my head, nor did I imbibe any of the overabundant malt liquor varieties. Rather, what made this Kroger stand out during my visit is that it tries. Its true that it is almost like any other Kroger constructed in the 60’s and 70’s: terrible parking lot, a little dingy, funky layout, but it also had a lot of other positive things. The store was very clean and bright colors had been added to the ceiling. The produce selection wasn’t the best, but there were a fair share of quality fruits and veggies. The manager’s specials were out of this world for both quality produce and for deli chicken wings. And believe it or not, this was some of the best service that I have received at any Kroger. Finally, what is probably the most important part about this Kroger is that the community is actively trying to ensure that it stays there to service Walnut Hills. Often times Krogers in similar neighborhoods have closed up shop because they are unprofitable. With threat of closure, the Walnut Hills CDC approached Kroger and asked what would keep them in the neighborhood. Basically it would take 200 new customers to spend 50 bucks a month. Now the CDC is sponsoring biweekly programs to encourage people to shop at this location and spend 25 dollars per trip. Further, they have surveys that ask what products people feel are missing from the store and work with Kroger in carrying those products in the future. Is this Kroger perfect? Not a chance in the world, but the positive outreach and commitment by Kroger and the community shows that creative solutions can help keep much needed resources in our communities. Come on out on a Tuesday, or any day, and help out.

Little selection of quality products. Minimal organic, even Kroger Organic. No whole bean coffee in the place. It definitely curtails to the immediate area demographic: low-income minority. Unfortunate. Large malt liquor 40oz selection however!

If you’re in need of an ice cold 40 oz Old English or a $ 4.00 bottle of Popov Vodka, then you’re in luck — because this is the place for you. Located at the opulent and pristine intersection of Gilbert and East McMillan, this Kroger is your one-stop shop for such fine delicacies as generic pork rinds and RC Cola. Do other fancy grocery stores make you feel uneasy with their vast sections devoted to such things like, «fresh vegetables» and«UN-processed meat»? Well fear not, because you wont find any of those things here. So put on your nicest shorty shorts and come on down! You best believe I’ll see you there…40 in hand.
