I’ve been waiting to write this review for ages now. Let’s begin shall we Imagine going on a 3 year destination vacation to Fiji all expenses paid, with your favorite group of friends, your dog, and an unlimited bar tab. After 3 years you come back home and feel empty and lonely just you your dog and a hangover with the greatest memories. Then you see this food truck driving by. You say why not. You get the Vladimir Poutine and just like that everything is right in the world. This food truck was the highlight of Bunbury Music Festival and I got to see Twenty One Pilots and Brand New. The guys are quick the food is out of the ordinary and have various taste and flavors that honestly you wouldn’t expect from a food truck. Who would imagine waffle fries being used in the ways they do? I don’t know why they don’t have a restaurant yet but when/if they do I will live in the basement. If you see the truck chase them down and grab a bite. It completes you.

Once upon a time there was a glorious music festival called Bunbury. At that festival was a glorious food truck called Hungry Bros. That food truck served me a glorious meal called Breakfast Poutine. That meal saved my life that day. I’ve dreamed about it every day.

I had Hungry Bros when I was at Bunbury Music Fest. I had to wait in line for almost 20 minutes for these fries, but they were so good I went back for MORE(yes, I waited in that line again)! That’s how you know this place is a real winner. They change their menu regularly, but I’ve had a few items and I will rank the ones I’ve tried in order of favorite to least favorite: 1. VLADIMIRPOUTINE — Good god the Vladimir Poutine is awesome! Not only is that name just the punniest name for food ever, but this dish just blew me away! The waffles fries were cooked perfectly(crispy, but nice and fluffy on the inside, with a golden crust similar to Rally’s fries), the gravy on it was just the bomb, then cheese curds, and a freakin fried egg on top of it! It’s like a flavor explosion in your mouth. Get this. Honestly, if they only served the Vladimir Poutine this place would be a 5 star food truck. 2. Kevin Bacon Ranch — Another very punny name, thank you for being clever Hungry Bros. This dish had waffle fries, ranch, bacon, and chicken. The flavor was good, but it was a little dry and the chicken was overcooked. Overall, a good dish, but I would much rather have the poutine. 3. Waffle Fry Sundae — A bold idea that to me didn’t pay off. I wanted it to work, just cause it was so crazy! But it didn’t…Waffle fries plus chocolate ice cream, homemade chocolate sauce, candied bacon, and whipped cream. I was hoping for a balance of sweet and salty, but all I got was ice cream melting into my french fries and making them extra sugary and mushy. No bueno. Overall, the food ranged from REALLYGREAT to meh, but I love that they are taking chances and trying new things! I will come back and try the reuben fries because I hear those are the real deal. If you can’t find Hungry Bros, make sure you follow them on Instagram @hungrybrosfoodtruck. They’re always updating where they’re going to be that day!

Waffle fries and fried pies. I mean how do you go wrong? My husband and I went to the grand opening a while back and were super excited, and not let down. Well we almost were because they almost ran out of food haha! But that’s a good thing! We literally got the last order of the lamb poutine waffle fries and also got the apple pie with vanilla ice cream. All I can say is both of them were ONPOINT. Since our first visit, every time my husband and I are out and see food trucks — we make a point to look for them. I started following them on Facebook, and I won’t lie — I have specifically suggested that we go to a bar because I secretly knew that Hungry Bros was parked outside(thanks to Facebook) haha! I have no shame. I will stalk waffle fry poutine any day of the week.

I tried out this particular food truck at Bunbury on Friday and was extremely disappointed in the quality of the food. I had the Kevin Bacon Ranch and the chicke on it was extremely dry and had an off taste to it, in fact I didn’t even eat the chicken after the first couple of bites because it didn’t taste right. Two of my friends got the same thing and also skipped the chicken. Very disappointed.

This review is only based on one experience and one food item but I really liked what I ate. They were at the Oakley Fancy Flea market and I decided to grab lunch from them. Their menu consisted of a few different poutines including a dessert poutine which I witnessed some people really enjoying but did not try myself. But I’ll tell you more about what I did eat. I had the Vladimir Poutine which first off is a pretty clever name in my opinion. It consisted of waffle fries smothered in lamb and onion gravy and cheese curds with an egg on it. Since my wife was going to eat some and she doesn’t like eggs, I ordered it without the egg and it was really good. First I think it’s awesome that they use waffle fries for their poutines. It seems like everybody likes waffle fries so it’s a good choice. The lamb gravy had plenty of shredded lamb in it so it tasted great and wasn’t just gravy but meat as well. The cheese curds were good too and with all the variations of poutine out there it’s nice that someone is still doing it with cheese curds which I think is the original style. Overall, a very tasty version of poutine that I would definitely eat again if I get the chance.

I have been waiting for Hungry Bros food truck to open in full force and yesterday on opening day was their«Grand Opening». So when seeing that they were parked in OTR while we were in Washington Park my boyfriend and I made it a small mission to go and find them. I must say, the mission was a success. Their menu had four items on it that day and the first one and the one we automatically decided on trying was the Breakfast Poutine. When handed to us through the truck window with two forks stuck in it my boyfriend and I geeked out from how amazing it just looked. We went and found our place for the parade and sat and took a bite of our Breakfast Poutine. That bite turned into us inhaling the whole thing. The Breakfast Poutine is the best food I’ve had in a long time from a food truck. Their menu looks to me very unique for a food truck menu. Other bonuses, the guys running the truck are really nice and cool. They seem to be enjoying what they are doing. Also, they have Dr. Browns soda and Ale 8. Basically the best non-alcoholic drinks ever. I can’t wait to catch them again and try some of their other food items. Even if you are over this food truck craze like I am, if you see Hungry Bros parked I suggest you try it.
