This is a place you might just drive past if you didn’t know what great food awaited you inside. Have tried several dishes and have never been disappointed. Décor may not be great but I don’t eat the furniture or decorations. Best chicken lo mein around!

Ordered carry out based on a menu we found online since this is super close(less than 5mins) to our new home. When hubby went and picked it up they didn’t give him a receipt or a menu for future orders. He got home and said there was an issue. Either the prices on the menu we found were WAY wrong or an item that wasn’t listed cost double what it cost anywhere else or the person over charged him by about $ 10. The egg roll was really small. The sweet and sour shrimp(unlisted item) was a bit greasy. The sause was on the side; which is fine; except the veggies(onion and bell pepper) weren’t even warm. The combo lo mein and fried rice were ok. Don’t think we will be going back when hubby works 2 minutes from a great Chinese place.

Read the other reviews and decided to try. Very pleased. Asked if they could steam my selection rather than prepare in wok. Offered to steam any entrée I chose. Very tasty, reasonably priced, and good service.

Most chinese places are the same. So, when you go to one with small portions and bland food, it’s surprising. The staff were very friendly but, when I walked in at 12pm on a weekday to an empty restaurant, I should have guessed things weren’t going to be great. While the food was inexpensive, I can get better for a similar price elsewhere.

I’m rating this on their food and service, not the atmosphere. As others have mentioned, the décor is older and a little worn. However, the owners are excellent and remember our orders whenever we come in. They always happily change a meal due to my needs. Current favorite of mine is Schezwan vegetables with tofu. Family loves orange chicken, sweet and sour chicken, moo goo gai pan, Schezwan chicken, egg rolls and hot and sour soup. Prices are very reasonable, and lunch is a great deal.

Excellent Asian cuisine with great prices to boot! The family that owns this establishment is very friendly and always make you feel welcome. Lunch specials are very affordable and offer large portions for the price. Small parking lot, but there is ample parking on either side of Compton in public lots only a short walk away. I would also rate this place 5 stars but I agree with other Unilocalers… interior is small and dated. Much more suited to carry out than a lengthy sit in meal. Highlights include: Super Tasty Fried Rice Dishes, Steamed Wontons that are the Bomb, a Cute Cashier and(Romance of the Three Kingdoms buffs take note) a Shrine to the Chinese God of War Guan Yu!

Good Chinese cuisine is hard to find where ever you go. When we moved into the area we immediately looked for the closest place for take-out. Fortune Express … a pleasant surprise. We’ve patronized the restaurant a few times now and I’m more than happy at the quality and taste of the food. I’m a huge fan of their Singapore Noodles(some places call it Singapore Mei Fun). I’m rather picky about this dish and I can tell you that Fortune Express has nailed it. I could argue that it is the best I’ve had prepared. Another thing I do like about the restaurant is their spring rolls and egg rolls. They are not of the ready-made freezer quality. They do make their own. If there is one thing that turns me off to a Chinese restaurant is laziness in making their own rolls. They do it very well here. Bonus! I did not give them 5 stars for two reasons. The take-out is excellent. However, the restaurant itself is plain, dated and kinda meh. My overall experience probably would have been a little different had I eaten inside. The other reason … well we kept having to go back in to order after asking for menus to be put into our take-out bag after the first three visits. We didn’t get one. Frustration(personal, because I didn’t have them hand me one; and them because they kept forgetting) set in and I finally grabbed one. Anyway, we’ll be going back for sure. Good prices, good food.

Best value for a big delicious lunch on the upper west side! $ 5 will get you soup, rice and big serving of the entrée of you choice. My favorite is the hunan beef. It’s tasty.
