I stopped in on a Saturday to get a UC jersey for the homecoming game. My last visit was in 1979, so I was pleased to see that they are still here and going strong! They had a great selection of UC apparel for men, women and kids. They had a coupon for half off any hat so I picked up a nice Bearcats hat as well. I was very pleased with the efficient checkout… They were very busy for the homecoming weekend, but there were plenty of checkout stations and cashiers to man them. Very efficient. This is a great store that has stood the test of time. I hope it’s not another 35 years until I return.

So you’re sick of the UC bookstore? Think it doesn’t offer enough? Prices are too high? DuBois bookstore offers a nice alternative just off campus. They usually have slightly better deals on text books, offering everything you can find at the regular bookstore, new and used. If it’s your first time, don’t be concerned when you walk through the door and only see the glut of UC paraphernalia scattered around the large bookstore, the books are all located on the second floor. An easily accessible computer gives patrons an easy way to print out their schedule and find their books if they forgot to bring it. Help is always readily available at the beginning of each quarter. And of course, as previously mentioned, if you are particularly proud of the school you’re attending, there is no shortage of UC plastered objects at DuBois. When selling back, DuBois offers decent prices but it’s good to know that the sooner you get your books in their hands the better return you’ll get.

At many universities, you have your one«official» bookstore in the center of campus, and then you have your other one at the edge of campus with a ton of great clothing, and great deals on textbooks. It’s no different at the University of Cincinnati. I was on campus yesterday and thought I would browse through the DuBois Book Store to check out their clothing, as I am a life-long Bearcat fan. I left pretty impressed. DuBois has stores at Miami and Kent as well, and they say they have«the greatest selection of collegiate apparel, souvenirs, and used textbooks.» While I haven’t seen the official UC Bookstore in over two years, it did seem to me that DuBois’ self-proclaimed statement of being«the greatest» is a legitimate one. Outside the store a sign read«Bearcat Headquarters,» and that was very true. Almost any UC or Bearcat sportswear or gift you could want they had. There was a ton of clothing including basic UC t-shirts, Adidas gear(official UC athletics sponsor) including jerseys and shorts, Nike t-shirts, hoody sweatshirts and sweatpants, and rainbow tees(non-UC color t-shirts). As far as gifts/souvenirs, DuBois had a ton of little things including stickers/decals, flags/signs, five different license plate frames, imprinted UC sports balls, UC wastebaskets, and a ton of other Bearcat items. With regards to books, I can’t really answer much about that. I imagine they have a ton of books and school supplies at good prices, but I don’t go to UC so I can’t say that for sure. I did peek upstairs and saw a large second floor waiting to be stocked with books in the next couple months for the fall. It was pretty bare at the time, but there were lots of notebooks and supplies at DuBois with special freshmen discounts for the summer’s UC orientation goers. Maybe my favorite thing in the store was a portion of a wall covered with a large Big East Conference logo and the logos of the 16 schools competing in the Bearcats’ league. I liked it because I am a UC fan, but really because it also shows DuBois customers who attend UC that they aren’t just students at the university, but that they are Bearcats. Overall, DuBois is a very good store with a large helpful and friendly staff. It’s no wonder they’ve been running strong at UC since 1955.
