The Beechmont Rollarena brings back memories of when my elementary school(Willowville) hosted«Family Fun Nights» here. Back in the day, this was the place to be if you were a kid. I liked the fact that the Rollarena hasn’t changed much since I was a wild-and-crazy youngster. This time around, I enjoyed skating with my family and watching my two nieces enjoy skating, the dice game, and the chicken dance.

My fellow Unilocalers, Beth is right. THISIS the place for Roller Skating Junkies. I’m afraid that she and I are of a «certain» generation. If you didn’t grow up at the skating rink«in the day» then you probably feel about this place, like my kids do — it’s ok. I drag the kids and after we get there — they usually get into the fun. We go with school and neighborhood kid parties but it’s hard to entice them out the door to the rink for a regular«open session». Kids today need a bigger arcade, a well lit practice area and more«stuff». The rental skates ARE the original skates that were installed in the rink YEARS ago so buy a pair if you think you’ll go more than ONCE. I honestly don’t think I have EVER been to the bathroom there. I am pretty sure I have NEVER been past the big mirror outside the restroom. You can look in the mirror to check your hair and your skate pom poms — so WHY go in? Can YOU actually stand up and pee in roller skates? Not me. And NO worries about food! My kids never starve to death at the roller rink on Beechmont. I might go broke feeding them but hey, I’m there to roller skate — not eat. I personally think this place ROCKS. They play old organ music sometimes and it smells like a rollerskating rink. The family that owns it owns other area rinks they bleed ROLLERBLOOD!(I just put that in for kids that like killing zombies instead of roller skating. Maybe rollerskating is a dying art form and we must support it? So skate and go to old car shows. This is Americana in it’s Roller Queen Hey Day. Wear your hair up in a crooked pony tail and chew gum. It’s good exercise, you’ll meet fun people, and if you win the Dice Game –YOURNEXTVISITISFREE! I can afford TWO pieces of pizza — what an incredible VALUE. We buy one, we get one free! Skate on — roller girl…

Um, ok seriously… how in thee world, yes thee… could someone have not already rated this place of awesomeness?! I am a roller skating junkie so I feel it’s only right that someone at such a high level of skating supremeness rate the facility in which I shine the brightest. :P I am a loyal Tri-Skate Land girl, but sometimes even I stray to another rink, and when I do I roll into Beechmont Rollarena with a like minded skating Goddess. It’s been a mixed crowd of adults and children when we have gone, but it’s always fun either way. If you’re a grown up and don’t want to get mowed down by any skating children who are losing their balance while careening into that vulnerable place on the back of your knees, then go on a Wed night. This rink goes back to the old school songs just for us older people and it makes us kick it into high gear to show that even in our 30’s we’ve still got skillzzzzz. The concession area is pretty large and the prices are reasonable too. If you have a child with a birthday, it’s all about the dice game, hokey pokey and chicken dance too. Heck, I may even go for a birthday just to see all my friends trying not to break anything as they put their left skate in, their left skate out, their left skate in and they shake it all about. Awesomeness I tell you… pure awesomeness.
