I understand that the culture of American Apparel is not typical. Compared to mainstream brands. However, the customer service at the Clifton store is horrible.

I’m not a fan. But my beef is mostly with the company and not this location. The attendants always offered me a dressing room when I grabbed a garment. But didn’t talk to me very much other wise. they seemed to know how bored I was trying to use a groupon in a store that doesn’t sell anything over a 29 inch waist. Parking here is a pain. It is street parking around a campus. Good luck. Small size selection. High prices. Bored attendants.

I came here looking for some organic clothing– and you would expect American Apparel to have more organic clothing than a couple T shirts(in only 3 colors). The service is okay, and the return policy is terrible(store credit only). However, if you want some soft, colorful cotton clothing, and want to support their business philosophy, this is the place to go.

I am such a fanatic of American Apparel. However, this particular store I feel is often under stocked on the key essentials of what they are known for, leggings and t shirts. They have tons of new fancy dresses and tops, and are considerably pricier than when they first opened a few years back. However, they are best know for their basic pieces that seamlessly translate into almost any season or outfit. But lately, every time I go, they seem to not have much of any stock in a variety of sizes. How come when I go home to Miami, FL there are millions of sizes. We need some more love in the ‘nati AA. Hopefully, once they restructure their financial issues this may no longer be an concern. PS– only 30 days for returns, and store credit. Some garments are final sale(e.g. — body suits, under garments, stockings, and such)

American Apparel is one of a kind in Cincinnati. The store and its clientele are very art/indie/hipster, but you can find some normal mainstream stuff if you aren’t into the indie scene. All of the clothing is made in an ethical manner in the US. I have some of the 50÷25÷25 T-shirts, and they are the softest thing that money can buy. The service, however sucks. Their return policy sucks

There are some things that American Apparel does well and I can appreciate those. American Apparel is a company that strongly believes in bringing the textile industry back to the US, and is doing a good job of it. Their workers are payed much more than those that work in sweat shops abroad and even, like Karina mentioned, twice our minimum wage. The shirts and other garments that come from their company are of the highest quality. Anyone that is in the screen printing business knows that AA shirts are the top of the line when deciding what to print on, and usually when selling to fans or customers, they are usually able to see the high quality. Unfortunately, my personal feeling about one area that they severely fail in is their means of advertising. AA claims to be progressive in all areas but their ad campagins and packaging are full of women posing in the most ridiculous, inappropriate manners, completely objectifying them and totally playing into the«sex sells» mantra of the collective corporate America. It feels counter-intuitive and backwards, but I guess they’re okay with that. The store front in Clifton is great, though. It’s very sleek and while the mannequins in the window are usually dressed with the ugliest clothes you could imagine, inside is a great variety of all kinds of minimalist clothes that are sure to supply hipsters for ages.

Okay, so I’ve got to give this chain of T-shirt and sportswear shops some respect for their ethical manufacturing products. With anti-sweatshop philosophy, American Apparel strives to pay all workers in its factories a livable wage and provide affordable healthcare. According to their website, the average sewer makes twice the federal minimum wage and is guaranteed full-time employment. During my first visit to the retailer, I really wanted to show my support for their business model by buying some of their clothing. However, when I walked into the store I felt like I had walked onto the set of Olivia Newton-John’s «Let’s Get Physical» video(Since most shoppers here weren’t even born when this song came out, I suggest searching YouTube to get the reference.). Every hue of the rainbow was represented in cotton(albeit organic cotton), nylon, and spandex. From T-shirts to booty shorts to unitards to leggings, American Apparel has every article of clothing you’d need to rock your faux-New Waver look. There were some really cool fashions around during the 80’s, but trust me some styles are best forgotten. Gold lame stretch pants are on that list.
