I’ve lived here for 2 weeks. I got a non-smoking room. Immediately upon getting there late the night I got in, the place smelled like there was currently a lit cigarette somewhere in it. Upon further investigation I found the whole building was«non smoking». Long story short, 2 phone calls and a face-to-face with the manager later, the place still smells like smoke. Their idea of handling the situation was to put notes on everyone’s door, and suggested maybe I go knocking around on the other resident’s doors and tell them to stop. I actually did do this, but to no avail. I will be relocating out of this place as soon as Memorial Day weekend is over. This isn’t me being sensitive to smoke; I used to smoke and don’t even mind it that much. It’s just to the extent that my buddys have told me my rental car reeks like smoke as if I had been smoking in it, just from the way my clothes get to smelling from hanging in the closet of this apartment. I smell like an ashtray at all times and can feel my chest getting congested. That’s a deal breaker. To be fair, this place would be pretty solid if you were a smoker and wouldn’t mind living inside of an ashtray. If I was a smoker this place would get a 4/5, but unfortunately I’m not, so it doesn’t. It’s cheap, and will more or less satisfy your basic human needs. I wouldn’t leave anything valuable in your vehicle overnight. I’m hesitant to shotgun a business on Unilocal with a bad review, but they were given 3 distinct chances to fix this over a 2 week period. They didn’t deliver.

I am a single man attending the FAA Academy and this complex is a good place to live. Pros: Flats are very clean and the furniture is a fantastic addition. The fully-furnished apartments allow you to move in with little more than clothes and have everything you need. The car ports are the reason I chose Walnut Gardens. If you’re not familiar with Oklahoma Weather, just imagine baseball-sized blocks of ice falling from 48,000 feet and hitting the side of your car at 70 mph. This is Oklahoma Weather. The car ports have saved me from severe hail damage. Those who stayed in complexes without covered parking do not get to say this. The office staff is fantastic. The company’s other complex, Apple Tree, has employees with the personality equivalent to an underpaid, overworked DMV employee. The ladies at Walnut Gardens’ front desk are incredibly helpful in anything you may need and make you feel very welcome. The 10 foot high barbed wire fence and gated entry points make the place feel very safe. My room has two deadbolts and a chain lock. The area does not seem exceptionally crime-ridden, however, the extra security appreciated. The pool seems nice, but is NEVEROPEN. Rental/courtesy cars are available on-site with very attractive prices. Cons: The grounds leave much to be desired. Sidewalks cracking from edge to edge, pitifully maintained parking lot, grass that has never seen the blade of a lawnmower, shingles falling off the roof during storms, etc. It seems like the only worker of the grounds is one minimum wage employee with a garage sale weedwhacker working evening shifts after high school to earn money for off-brand whiskey. Overall the grounds are acceptable, but these problems will make themselves known with any length of stay. Walls are thin, but this is to be expected in any apartment complex. You will hear your neighbors, but it is not any different than most places. Appliances are a little dated. Most of them work without error, but they are old. Price without a lease is high, but so are all places you wish to stay at longer than a hotel and shorter than a 1-year lease apartment home. Conclusion: This place is a wonderful home while attending the FAA Academy. The car ports keep my car from looking life a golfball and the flats are very clean and well-kept. The grounds, however somewhat poorly maintained, offer a level of security that would make anyone feel safe here. If I ever return to the land of cheap gas, hailstorms, and truck-driving republicans, this will be my place of choice.

I think it is time to update my review on this business which isn’t a restaurant. I visit them frequently. Ah, let’s go ahead and tell the truth: everyday(though not always interacting with the business itself). Every day for nine months. I pay to live here. For the past several months, my bf and I have been dealing with a leaking shower head. We had been too afraid to bring it up for months(until it got worse after I soaked it in vinegar). We were too afraid to bring it up to them in fear that they wouldn’t listen to our problems. Most apartment complexes would brush us off while muttering about how we were to «first class» to deal with minor annoyances such as leaking shower heads or a garbage disposal that didn’t work just right. Walnut Gardens has been a truly amazing apartment living experience. True story. We’ve been dealing with the master bathroom shower head leaking a drop per second, hour in and hour out, because it would probably not be worth our time in reporting it and waiting for them to *maybe* come fix it. But they came. And they fixed it! They always show up within just a few hours of calling for any problem[1]. In January, or thereabouts, they built a new gazebo over the community grill. They also placed a new table and benches nearby to enjoy an evening of grilling. They keep a general hand on the grounds in keeping it clutter free. Can’t wait til this summer when I can stuff my face like a piggy with meat from the grill AND work it off in the pool! On top of all of this, I’ve had no problems with mail or packages. And lately that’s quite a few. I want to be honest here. This is an apartment. I hear our neighbors across the way,(and I’m sure at least one other neighbor does as well) when they are fighting. I can tell they are slamming their doors when it is an extremely temperamental fight. Let me rephrase this: I’ve heard much quieter neighbors when they are just walking across their apartment to get popcorn while playing Halo. Please, please, please read my first review as well to give you a full idea of what I think about this place(I reread it and still agree). Not too many apartments truly care about their residents, but I know that as long as Donna and the maintenance staff(I’m sorry to say I don’t know the two gentlemen-who-I-have-worked-with’s names) are here, they will make sure that you have a pleasant living experience. [1] If it is in business hours. If it is not business hours, then it may be just a little later. Unless it is an emergency situation, like your hot water not heating on a Saturday morning. Done. In twoish hours. What I’m trying to say is they are completely reasonable.
