Five stars for @trademenswares — a mecca of menswear in Midtown! I had heard such good things but had’t been in yet, until yesterday, which was pretty perfect timing as their sale has just started. I also got to meet owner Hunter and hear a little more about the store! The place is perfectly curated to the look I think the OKC man is looking for. Well, most of my men, anyway. Part smart entrepreneur, part lumbersexual. Not really hipster nor dandy, but with a light touch of each for good measure. I was especially impressed by the selection of Seattle’s world famous Filson — rugged enough for my full-time organic farmer husband to wear to work, but nice enough he wouldn’t be underdressed at a sit-down lunch. That’s a rare find, folks.(He loved it, by the way, more than any of his Christmas gifts, even more than his new iPad mini. God I love giving presents!) The perfectly cut blazers, fine fabrics, sharp shirts and tasteful trousers stand alongside a delightful selection of wallets, neck ties, bow ties, handkerchiefs, and a very nice selection of dress shoes, boots and sneakers. Don’t miss the satchels, work bags and weekenders. Talk about supporting a local business, this is a one man show, a labor of love, an oasis of cool.

Frankly, a bit stunned in a good way. Had no idea Trade offered such interesting and high-quality style. I mean, I knew they were hip. But they remind me of Barney’s in NYC more than anything – but with an Oklahoma practicality that’s so perfect for this market. A few among many favorites: a legit pea coat by Britain’s Realm & Empire; sexy Japanese wool suits that can be bought as separates; luxurious flannel shirts soft as a baby bunny; and some of the handsomest wingtip shoes in town. Dapper and dope rolled into one. Respect for these guys, big time.
