First time in, and the only negative feedback that I have is they were out of pepper-jack cheese, which if you have looked at their menu, basically comes with every item that they serve. This was not a big deal to me, but I believe that if you are out of something you go to the store and get it; that is just the kind of service I would expect from any establishment. I do not remember what burger I ordered but it was good, I remember that it had a fried egg on top. Decent size burger, the regular fries were«meh» but the burger was good. Food was good, just believe that the service could have been improved by going out and buying what they are out of, especially if it comes on half the items on your menu!

Customer service was awful. We went in at about 1030am and I’m not sure if the lady was mad she had to get up from eating at one of the tables to help us, but she was extremely rude. When i asked if there was a kids menu she snapped that it was on the menu I had in my hand and when i asked her where she said«oh, well its supposed to be». She huffed and puffed every time the phone rang and her meal was, once again, interrupted. The food didn’t taste like anything either, definitely will not be back.

Got the chicken tenders and fries and jalapeño cream gravy. Fast service even though it was rush hour. Clean and food is very good!

I have lived in burger cities and this one surprised the calf outta me. I would easily put it in the top 3 of all time.

Good burgers and good fries, but if you’re trying to drive and park nearby, save yourself the trouble.

Ate at the Cow Calf-Hay for lunch on a Tuesday. During construction it can be a little difficult to find, but make the effort, it’s worth it. The place isn’t huge, and it was crowded, but we were able to sit at the barstools, so we didn’t have a problem sitting down. I went with the blackjack burger, which comes with a blackened patty, pepperjack cheese, spicy mayo, and topped with fried onions. The patty was a little overcooked for my tastes, next time I’ll ask that they not go all the way to medium well. But, the bun is soft yet firm enough to stand up to the ingredients. It was a well constructed burger, I didn’t have to finish it with a knife and fork. The mayo had some heat, but I certainly wouldn’t describe it as «spicy.» Also, nothing was ever made worse by adding fried onions, so I was happy they were included. Overall, it’s a solid burger. Not as spicy as I was hoping, but it did have some nice flavor. And, it’s a good size. I’d order it again, but ask that they not cook the patty so much. Overall, the burger was a 3 star burger. What bumps Cow Calf-Hay to a 4 star rating is the onion rings and service. I asked the guy taking my order which he recommended: fries or onion rings. He unequivocally recommended the onion rings, saying they were his favorite thing on the menu. He was right, these things are fantastic. They are large slices of onions, and breaded well, but the breading is not too thick. Importantly, the breading was actually seasoned. So many places fail to properly(or even remotely) season their breading. This breading adheres well to the onions rings, and you get a lot in an order. They were fantastic, I absolutely will get them again. Service was great, we got through the line quickly and we had hardly sat down after getting our drinks when our name was called. Also, the place was clean. As other Unilocalers note, it can get crowded at lunch time. But, it’s downtown, if a place isn’t crowded at lunch I’d be suspicious. So, this is not an issue for me. I’ll absolutely return, I’ve heard good things about the salads and chicken tenders.

Yummy but pricy. I remember when this was a great, cheap burger joint that allowed smoking… the good old days. Limited seating but folks are good about sharing space. I’d go back most definitely. Great eating spot if you’re on jury duty in Oklahoma County.

Very tasty burgers. Overpriced plan and simple. I paid $ 14 for a burger, fries and drink. They used to be a simple menu with high quality, and reasonable prices. Now it’s preformed patties and frozen fries, yes you can taste the difference, and«downtown money». There is nothing magic about certified Angus beef, my family ranches, trust me. I won’t be back, there are better options in DT as well as Edmond. The three stars is bolstered by only the tastiness of the burgers.

I’ve been a fan since the old Mad Cow burger joint Route 66 location. Stoked to see it back and killing it.

Super filling, good flavor, a littttle greasy. The store’s layout is slightly confusing, but the service is quick. We got our food to go, and I had ordered the cheese curds. They were tasty, a little greasy, but not something I’d recommend getting to go. It’s a little pricey for burgers, but honestly, not much worse than a lot of the other downtown lunch options.

Pretty awesome! Only been there once so far. Convenient location by devon tower. Small restaurant, staffed mostly by kids. The goods: 1) Good solid burger 2) Good portions for the price The Bad: 1) Parking, like all downtown places, is bad.

Ok Joy, I can understand you are probably lactose intolerant, and were pretty upset about that cheese bit, but compared to local fare, this is not a 3 star burger joint. Firstly, there was little disappointing about the burgers. All of the ingredients on mine looked great. The bacon was home cooked, not that crappy pre-cooked garbage you get at most places. The jalapenos were fresh cut, and not those nasty pickled ones every okie restaurant seems to use. The bun was fine and didn’t fall apart, and in general the quality of the ingredients was awesome. The burgers remind me a lot of Five Guys type burgers, only the patty is bigger. Everyone in the group I was with was thrilled with their burger. I wasn’t wild about the sweet potato fries, which they didn’t really do anything to make special. They were some plain jane waffle cut sweet potatoes with no trimmings that could have been cooked at a slightly higher heat. It’s hard to make those right. Anyway, this is probably a 4 star joint based solely on the food, and I’m giving it 5 to make up for the lactose intolerant review ding. For me it’s probably on par with five guys, the garage, and S&B(minus all of the trendiness). It wasn’t super cheap. It ended up at $ 12 for the burger fries and a drink, but that’s the price point of all of those restaurants I just listed as well. The benefit of this place is that it is literally a stone’s throw from Devon tower. Ok, maybe an uncle Rico stone’s throw, but pretty close to the center of downtown. It’s in the middle of a good food desert, and I don’t have to give up my got here at 6am parking spot to eat there. So go try it out, and get there early, because the secret is out, and it gets crowded quick.

Went for a walk to the library and noticed the sign from a far. It looked like two big ol’ eyes! I thought– Ow, it is new and busy. Must be good! I walked in, grabbed a menu and quickly scanned it. Cute décor, but not a lot of room for people to wait for their order. I decided to order the Mad Cow sans cheese– Certified Angus Beef Chuck, topped with tender diced grilled chicken, American cheese, pepper jack cheese, grilled Idaho potatoes, smoked bacon, and homemade spicy ranch dressing. Sounds delish right??? While waiting for my lunch, I googled the name and found that their original location is in Edmond. I walked back to the office and couldn’t wait to taste the yummy goodness. It smelled so heavenly! Anxiously unwrapped my burger– two strips of crispy bacon on top of melted pepper jack, a couple potatoes and 2 strips of chicken. A tinge of disappointment swept through my body. I looked at my receipt and didn’t know what to do with myself. The lady at the counter only put no american cheese!!! :(((((((I wanted NO cheese at all– isn’t there a button on the POS that says«no cheese.» I think I went at the wrong time of day. Lunch rush hour(12pm)
