Um… yes, please! This place was DELICIOUS. Stopped in her while in town for the WCWS and was pleasantly surprised. First time having ramen, and first time at this establishment. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful… taking time to explain everything on the menu. Started with the dumplings. Seriously. I have could have just eaten about 3 orders of those. Yummy. I ordered the pork belly ramen — added nori and mushrooms. So delightful. I saw the option to add noodles — but I don’t see why that would necessary! The meal was very filling and very satisfying. Will definitely make a point to come back and visit the next time I’m in the area.

The best, kinda sad they are closed on Mondays but its a blast to come any other day. Tried making it at home, didn’t even come close. Hands down the best restaurant.

The first time we arrived at this joint there was a line out the door so needless to say, we left and I was bummed. Couldn’t believe how busy this place was! This visit, however, required no waiting time so I was thrilled. I ordered the tonkotsu shoyu ramen and was not so satisfied. The broth wasn’t as thick as I would like and lacked depth of flavor but the eggs were perfectly done. I can’t speak for the chashu because I’m not entirely a fan of pork belly. Sorry. But I do recommend that everyone try this place at least once! Three stars for rudeness from the chef. When I asked for seven spice seasoning, he got a bit snarky with me. His reply, «This is Japanese, not Chinese.» Not okay. Did he really just try to correct me?(Sidenote: I’m Asian) Then proceeds in telling me they have sriracha(refer back to his comment since he was wanting to be so specific) and chili pepper seasoning. I took the chili pepper… which happened to be shichimi togarashi aka Japanese 7 spice seasoning/powder. I was gracious enough to overlook the ignorance. Also, Chinese cuisines uses a standard seasoning called 5 spice. You’re welcome.

This place makes some great ramen. Having had proper ramen a few other places, I was excited when this place opened up. At lunch, it can fill up fast so if you’re going with a group, try to go to lunch early or on the later side.

Dropped by for lunch today when they first opened at 11am. So glad we got there when we did because the restaurant got packed shortly after our arrival. There was a line waiting out the door by 11:30am. That was definitely a good sign. We ordered the garlic fried rice which was absolutely delicious. Loved the presentation served it in a hot skillet. I had the spicy ramen with spicy pork, pork belly, and soft-boiled egg. It was hot, flavorful, and filling. So yummy! My boyfriend got the buttered corn miso ramen which was also good, but said he preferred the spicy ramen. It’s nice sitting at the bar and seeing the kitchen in action. Server was great, always made sure our drinks were topped off. Will definitely stop by again when we’re in the area.

Finally got chance to dine in at this place after leaving the restaurant since there was a croud on weekend and we gotta wait outside. We had 3 kinds of ramen which were a bit above average, garlic fried rice was outstanding. We also had 4 flavors of mochi but neither ice cream nor the wrapper was good, Tasted like they were stored in the freezer for forever :(( Service was so friendly and polite.

What a pleasant surprise here in OKC! The Tonkotsu Ramen was rich and hearty; the hunk’o’pork belly put it over the top. My son had the garlic fried rice which I thought was very tasty but he didn’t enjoy it nearly as much. But he did like the edamame while the sea salt lasted… My wife had the yakisoba wrapped in egg and that was delicious as well. My oldest had the karaage, gyoza and chicken thigh Yakitori and that was very tasty. If you try this, leave room for the Mochi ice cream. Amazing! And everything was very well-priced. All this and the bill came to less than $ 60 for a fam of four. Highly recommended. Not the most authentic but still very worthy of the praise; not a ton of selection for the vegan crowd. And most of the ramen is pork-belly-based…

There was a huge hype to Tamashii when it first opened up, but I’m just now getting around to it. Hype means busy and busy means people. Too many people. *hiss* Wait, I guess there’s still hype. Hah. Because we got there 20 minues after they opened for the evening and they were full. Bar space opened up before we waited 5 minutes, though. So that’s great news for singular eaters or a couple! Both the exterior and interior remind me of what an izakaya looks like. Nothing fancy and mostly bar area for eating/drinking. There are a few booths and I think 2 – 3 hightops. If you’re going by yourself or with one other friend or so, don’t turn down bar seating if it’s available. The food served here is perfect for the space at the bar. The entire bar was full, but I never felt crowded. The service here is on point. I don’t think there is a true dedicated server for the bar(not sure about the tables), because two different women were refilling our waters and all that good stuff. Both of them were great, by the by. While we were there, the little boiler thingy for the ramen noodles had broken. Oh no! But they got it fixed up in about 5 – 10 minutes, so no big deal. Honestly, even if it stayed broken for long enough, there are a couple of non-noodle items on the menu I wanted to try. They have a pretty good selection of sake for $ 7 and up. If you’re alone, it’s more than enough. If you’re with another person, it’s the perfect amount for sharing. If you want to be a nerd like me and«kanpai!» before you start drinking, you totally should, For extra nerd points, let your friend pour your drink and vice-versa. Miso butter corn ramen(5⁄5): I know it totally looks it, but this isn’t an Americanized version of ramen. It’s actually something you could find in ramen shops in Japan. It originated in Hokkaido, I think. Anyway. It’s good and there’s a lot of it. Plenty of noodles and corn with the couple of other ingredients in it. The broth is good. It’s not bland but it doesn’t hit you in the face either. Gyoza(4⁄5): Good stuff. I don’t think I’ve met a gyoza I haven’t liked. There wasn’t anything particularly special about this gyoza, but it was tasty. I wanted takoyaki but the Jeff doesn’t like anything seafood, so instead of breaking the bank(and my stomach), we opted for the gyoza. Obviously. Chopsticks(5⁄5): yes hello. These chopsticks are cool, okay? They’re a hard plastic and easy to hold. The bottom ends of the chopsticks are grooved, which I imagine makes them easier to grip things with? I dunno, maybe. But I liked them.

Finally, I get to try this place because of the amazing reviews and the hype! I had the spicy ramen which, honestly, the ramen was not the best in my opinion since I can whip up a mean ramen at home with much more flavor than the one here. Although, the garlic fried rice was surprisingly really good! For desert, we had mochi ice cream which is my favorite thing about this place! I will most likely come back for the mochi ice cream and the garlic fried rice. The atmosphere is pretty laid back and cool; also there was a bar area with a view of an open kitchen. Be aware that if you come during busy hours, mostly at night, you will likely have to wait because the area is very small. This place is great, I would recommend it to anyone!

I visited Tamashii for the first time yesterday. The small building has an open kitchen, a bar-style seating area, and the usual tables and booths. I ordered the Miso Butter Corn Ramen with a soft boiled egg. It was easily one of the top three meals that I’ve had since coming to OKC four years ago. The broth was light and flavorful down to the last drop. The noodles were cooked perfectly and had that fresh made ramen texture that I love. My only regret is that I didn’t order extra pork belly. I’m not saying that the serving was skimpy by any means. It was just so damn good that I wanted more of it! I seriously can’t wait to visit the restaurant again. Another great thing about Tamashii is the price. You can get some of the best ramen in the US for under 10 bucks. The value is simply hard to beat.

There was a wait on Friday night but that’s to be expected downtown. The service was great! Food was even better. The Karaage came out first and very promptly! It was lightly battered and was very tasty on its own. We wanted to try the truffle mayo and yes. Great pair. Garlic fried rice was served in the cast iron skillet it was cooked in. A little difficult to eat out of the pan? But I loved the texture nod the crispy rice. Tonkotsu ramen was very savory, def recommend adding extra pork belly :)

I’m updating my review from 4 to 5 stars because I consistently love this place! Rainy day? Go get some ramen. I get the tonkatsu every time and it never disappoints. Sometimes I even spring for extra noodles if I’m extra hungry… And then I can never finish them! Go here for lunch of dinner and you won’t regret it.

We enjoyed ourselves at Tamashii. I was surprised at how«hip» the atmosphere was. I was expecting an ancient 70 year old Asian dude cooking in the back with his children serving the tables. Instead it was a plethora of young trendy people. Either way, the food was good. We got three different types of ramen. The spicy pork one was my favorite and definitely had some heat. The customization available was a really nice touch.

Can’t brag on this place enough. It is located in the heart of Midtown and offers the best ramen I’ve ever had. The parking situation can be hectic on weekdays, but it slows down on the weekend. This place has Japanese authenticity other local restaurants try to emulate. Try it. You won’t be sorry.

***LOVE*** I love ramen – good ramen, that is. Tamashii Ramen does ramen well and that’s why I keep coming back. My personal favorite is their tonkotsu ramen, double the noodles. Why double the noodles? Well, their noodles rock and when I order double noodles I have enough for dinner that night and lunch the next day. In case you were wondering, their ramen reheats really well the next day. I always come with my Keep It Local card in hand. Order ramen, bring card, get edamame for FREE(at least in 2015). Their spicy edamame is super delicious. It’s a balsamic based sauce with some spicy goodness. I pick it every time over the original. I’ve had their pot stickers, too, and those are very tasty – I’d recommend them. Every time I go I swear I am going to branch out and order something different, but I never do. I just love their tonkotsu ramen with double noodles so much, it is my ramen heaven. I plan on trying their garlic fried rice and that amazing mountainous looking dessert, one day. ***WISHLIST*** My(very short) wish list: I wish they’d keep more regular hours. The first 4 times I tried going there they were closed. I’d talk to friends and they’d had the similar experiences. I’ve even heard friends give up on going because they«were never open.» Maybe it’s not true to Japanese style, but I’d love to get a chicken ramen option. Lastly, they have such an amazing view of downtown and their blinds are always pulled. I wish they would open their blinds after dark so we could enjoy the million dollar view of downtown OKC. ***OVERALL*** If you, too, love good ramen, head over to Tamashii. My vote is for the tonkotsu. It’s always delicious. The folks over there are always very nice and attentive. They have their liquor license now and offer a selection of bottled beer. Sit near the window and enjoy the great view of downtown OKC. Don’t forget to bring your Keep It Local card. Happy ramen-ing!

Wow what a nice surprise! While on an overnight business trip to Tinker AFB I stumbled across this ramen shop and it did not disappoint. This was my first visit, but from what I observed this crew does it right. Consistent food being served(I watched from the bar), quickly, and by an enthusiastic staff. Tonkotsu ramen + chicken karage with truffle mayo = perfect lunch before heading back to Dallas. Everything was cooked perfectly, and served up quickly, which was nice considering the place was full. Very very happy.

I’ve only had Tamashii to-go so this review is not based off atmosphere or service. That being said, ramen to-go seemed a little risky but since I was stuck at work and couldn’t join my family for lunch, I took the risk. I love soup, I love phở, heck I love $.30 ramen in a cup but I’ve only had good«real» ramen once. Now that Tamashii is in town I’m about to get my numbers up. My city chic New York sis was in town and we wanted to impress her with Oklahomas new cool spots. She’s had her taste at gourmet ramen at places like momofuku. She knows her stuff but I’m happy to share She looooved tamashii. Like I said I only had it to-go but I love the way Tamashii does it. They give you a cup of broth then a box of noodles and all the fixings. I got the spicy ramen with an egg added. An hour later after being ordered and my soft boiled egg was still perfect. I’m weird and have my own set of Asian soup bowls and spoons which made eating a little more like how it would be if I were in the restaurant. Tip – if you get it to go, heat your broth and noodles together first, then add the other additions for the last bit of heating. It was a huge bowl of ramen yet I happened to slurp down every last bit. Anxiously awaiting my next Tamashii experience!

Very cool place in a convenient location near downtown. Plenty of parking nearby. The ramen was good, but came kind of lukewarm — ramen should be piping hot. I wasn’t quite sure why it wasn’t hot because I saw them make it. I had the shoyu ramen. I was still hungry after the ramen and got some of the octopus fritters — which were excellent. I have no idea how they make them crispy outside and mushy inside. I watched the guy cook it and it was interesting — he kept flipping the fritters and checking the temperature with a thermometer. Service was a bit standoffish. But a good place overall.

Most Oklahomans when they think of ramen think of the instant ramen they ate growing up and in college. Little do most know that that is just an impersonation of a very real and tasty and time consuming dish. There is nothing instant about proper ramen. In Japan there are tons of ramen places and different styles of ramen in different parts of the country, much like BBQ in America has different flavors in different states. Being a ramen lover I was missing it greatly here in okc. I was so glad to hear about Tamashi opening up and about how the owner had went to Japan to learn some about how to make it. Went tonight for the first time with my wife and it was great! Got the tonkatsu ramen. Very creamy and porky broth that you could just drink from a glass. The pork belly melts in your mouth and has great flavor. Not the kind of fat where it’s chewy and a little nasty. It literally melts upon entering your piehole. The egg, pretty authentic preparation. Noodles, very good. All of it was great. Now would I say it’s as good as you could get in Japan or some places like LA or something. Maybe not just as good, but those guys have been making ramen for generations. It is a very very good option here and I’m proud of them representing Okc. Also tried the edamame, Gyoza, and Takoyaki. All great sides with a good taste. I love ramen houses so this was an overall nostalgic and good experience for me. It was my wife’s first time and she liked it a lot. Next time I’m trying the spicy ramen cause that dish looked delish too! Now go get you some ramen!

Love it. Great service, delicious ramen, nice atmosphere, decent location. Boom. Ramen. Get some. Recommendations: Corn butter miso ramen for something different. Omusoba for brunch. Garlic fried rice for dinner. Gyoza for snack. Tonkotsu and Shoyu ramen all day. Yakisoba. Okay, so I almost started listing the entire menu. Because it is all delicious. Their sign is up, and they are taking to go orders! No excuses now!
