We stopped in on our way from Austin to Kansas City a couple days ago between lunch time and dinner, or «Lupper», as we call it in my house. Only two other customers were in this VERY large establishment, with a VERY large menu. You could host two high school football teams at the same time between the space and food selection! There were numerous lunch specials on offer, so my buddy and I both opted for that. I had the rib plate with baked beans as a side. Homeboy had the brisket sandwich with fries. Powdered sugar fritters were provided to the table, compliments of the staff(sounds like they come standard). The pork spare ribs were huge, tender, moist and delicious. I like mine fall-off-the-bone style, but these were closer to competition-compliant bite-the-meat-off-the-bone style. No harm, no foul. The beans, however, were far downhill from there. They seemed only a hair upgraded from standard, out-of-the-can beans. Bush’s has a leg up on these babies. The sauce was yummy, and a dash of it spiced up the beans to «edible» levels… I also stole a few fries from my barbecue-consuming companion when he wasn’t looking, and can say they were well-executed. Fried perfectly and well-salted. Lastly, the fritters are not to be missed or skipped(as I heard a couple other patrons do). Add in the fact that they were complimentary, and we’ve got the makings of a good value. Unfortunately, the facility really let this place down. It’s in DESPERATE need of a 30-year-overdue update. Overall rating = 2.4. Food = 4⁄5 Facility = 1⁄5 Service = 2⁄5 Ambiance = 1⁄5 Value = 4⁄5

Hmmm, not feeling it here. Ribs were good, but the sliced beef and pulled pork were pretty dry. The BBQ sauce tasted heavy on butter(?), so not sure what that was. Nice place, clean and the apple fritters were pretty good.

The ribs and okra were fantastic. They give you a lot of food. And the apple fritters are the bomb.

Wow! I have had bar b q all over the Oklahoma City metro area and this is by far the best around. The ribs are to die for. Just the right amount of smoke. I found it a better deal just to order a slab(#22) and take the extra home or just order it to go. All of the sides are great. I personally like the cole slaw and Mac and cheese. But the potato salad is pretty awesome too! Don’t forget about the apple fritters! They are little pillows from heaven. They come complimentary with your dinner. If the great food wasn’t enough… The people are even better. They are so pleasant. I have frequented Spencer’s a lot this last month. The menu selection is excellent. So if you are ever over on my side of town do yourself a solid and stop in and give them a try. I’m glad I did. Overall grade«A+». Yum Yum!

I live on the Northside of town but have made the 20 – 30 min trip to spencer’s a few times just to get some good food. The service is usually pretty fast and friendly and the fried okra is the best!!! Looking for good barbeque look no further!

My family and I(husband and 3 boys) have eaten here several times. It’s close to home and they have great food. Any time we want BBQ, this is where we go. We’ve never been disappointed with the quality of the food and service. I usually order ribs and the meat is so tender that it practically falls off the bones. My kids especially loves the apple critters.

We visited Spencer’s on a recent trip to OKC. OMG what great BBQ. The portions are outrageous. We live in the Pacific Northwest. It may be beautiful there. but they don’t have BBQ like this. The warm apple fritters served at the end is just icing on the cake. We will be back on every visit to the OKC area.

Long time local favorite. Probably over-priced but meat consistently good. Okra was a little over done & greasy. Complimentary apple fritters are awesome!

I am always in the mood for some really good BBQ. This place was suggested to me from someone that doesn’t normally eat BBQ but will eat here any time. That kind of recommendation could go either way, but I decided to check it out. Going here for lunch, I ordered the sliced brisket sandwich with a side and a drink. The brisket was really awesome. It had a good flavor and was plenty moist. The only thing about it was that it was half way between chopped and sliced. Not a big deal. Also, the spicy BBQ sauce, although it looked like ketchup, was really good as well. As a side, I got the baked beans, which were a little thick and sweet for my liking. To jazz up your meal, there is a condiment bar that has all the usual fixings for this kind of place… pickles, onions, jalapenos, etc. At the end of the meal, they delivered out a basket full of little apple fritter balls that were covered in powdered sugar. I wouldn’t go as far as ordering these things off the menu, but they weren’t bad for an «on-the-house» treat. Bottom line, I’d say check this place out.

Spencer’s is a perfectly fine lunch option, but the fact that their bread/butter and their apple fritters are the best things about them is kind of a backhanded compliment when you’re talking about BBQ. Some of my coworkers have a passion for the place, so I’m there probably once or twice a year. Their service at this location is great when we go as a large group; they keep us frittered and fed, and the food is perfectly serviceable. I’m not a huge fan of the meat itself(a little bland, and the sauce doesn’t suit my taste as much as some others), but it’s a solid enough choice. I’ve also had some issues with the way they phrase their specials and such, meaning that often the price they charge me only seems tangentially related to the numbers on the menu. But it’s cheap enough either way that I don’t argue.

My office had a bunch of food catered from Spencer’s. The hot links were very good if you like spicy food. The rolls were the best part! They were huge and tasted sweet. The whipped butter that was provided went great with the rolls. It tasted like honey butter. The ribs, potato salad, mac ‘n cheese, coleslaw, beans, pulled pork, and sausage links were good and it was an enjoyable meal. I love BBQ and would try this restaurant again.

Stopped in here while visiting the fiancé’s parents in OKC. Really good BBQ… smoked ribs were delicious. I remember the prices being relatively cheap. Not the best décor/ambiance but clean inside.

The food here is great. The staff here are very friendly. You have to try the rolls and apple fritters. I have tried the ribs, chicken and the pulled pork. All these items were tasty and full of smokey goodness. The food still tasted delicious the next day. Their Hot BBQ sauce is sooo good, you can buy jars of it to use at home. The sauce is flavorful and well seasoned, not just pure heat. I live less than a mile from this gem and I can’t believe that they were right under my nose for all this time. Give them a try, you won’t be disappointed.

Food — 4 stars Sauce — 4 stars Service — 4 stars Store Intangibles — 4 stars I have heard good things about this place for a little while, so I recently stopped in for lunch. It is awfully difficult to fairly review a BBQ joint based on such a small sampling of the menu, so I stand open to editing later. With that said, I really enjoyed everything about this lunch. Despite being in a run down looking part of town, this eatery is in a nice, new building and is plenty big enough and comfortable enough to allow you to enjoy your experience. The menu is large and has pretty much every type of meat in every cut you could want. The prices were certainly fair. I got a regular sized pulled pork sandwich with mild BBQ sauce and drink for about 5 bucks. The sandwich was quite large actually and had a ton of meat on it. The meat was tender and tasty on its own and topped off with a delicious, sweet BBQ sauce. I would be remiss to not compliment the yeast roll. I really enjoyed the roll, especially after dipping it in the BBQ sauce. But then again, I’m a real glutton for great BBQ. The service staff was friendly and quick. Time from order to sitting down with the meal was probably about 5 minutes or so. The eatery has plenty of tables that are well spaced out so you don’t feel crowded in by other diners. They also do a great job of keeping ketchup, and hot and mild BBQ sauces fully stocked and out on the tables. As I was finishing up, the staff brought a few complimentary fritters around to all of the diners in the place. I personally am not a huge fan of desserts without chocolate, but these were tasty as well. I was struck by how much they resembled beignets. I believe they had blueberries or something in them, but to be honest, I really couldn’t taste anything other than the fritter itself. All in all, it was a very nice lunch and tasty experience. I have every intention of revisiting this place soon and trying more of the menu.

Tried their lunch special. Pulled pork sandwich, Crinkle cut fries and Soda/Pop. Always hits the spot. A bit pricey. Food is well proportioned. They even treat you to snow ball desserts while you wait for your meal. Place is kept cleaned. booths could be bigger. Elder staff is great. Younger staff, not so great. they also cater and have a banquet room.

Great BBQ for a reasonable price. Try thier delicious apple fritters. Once you start snacking on them you won’t have room for the main course.
