Went in to see Mayra– entered salon with over processed super dry blonde. She foiled my roots & talked me into working a darker blonde in to make it more natural. Hands down– BEST hair washing in my life. Scalp massage to die for. I left with soft silky hair, I love my color. Highly recommend making an appointment with her.

First trip — Massage
I’ve been lucky enough to date a massage therapist, be a guinea pig for a massage school, and date a guy that took me to a massage therapist every other week. I would say that I know what a good massage feels like.
This was not a good massage.
Not completely terrible, but not good either.
I moisturizer semi-​regularly, so I don’t understand why she put as much lotion on me as she would a lizard. After the massage, I smelt and felt like play dough!
I carry a lot of stress in my upper back, lower back, and in my forearms. I let her know that I would like to get the deep tissue massage, and told her that I would like her to focus on those areas to get the knots out of my back and strip my forearms. It felt more like half Swedish half let-​me-​torture-​you. Using your elbow is… okay. Using it on bone… is not.
In the end I did feel a little better, but I also still have some kinks and she didn’t strip my arms, just a rub down.
When I went to pay, she almost charged me $ 5 more than the «bonus» stated and then said she would have to charge me the $ 2 that her Paypal swipe-​through-​your-​phone credit card square thing charged her. Excuse me?
I wrote a check.
The kind of music, lotions, methods of payment a therapist uses tells you a lot about him/​her. And the price. Because she used the same music her school gave her for free, uses a very cheap lotion, has a cheaper rate than most, and didn’t give me a true massage therapy session (more like a half-​hearted mall massage), I won’t be using her again.
I used a gift certificate I received for Christmas for the service and decided to add a bonus. My gift certificate allowed for
— A massage consultation
— Swedish Massage (15 minutes)
— Neck, Back, Shoulders, Arms
— Complimentary Beverage
— add on bonus enhancements
I got
— 60 minute «Deep Tissue» massage (that I had to pay for)
— a cup with an inch and a half of water
Apparently you can either get what you paid for on the certificate or take a bonus that you have to pay more for.
Believe you me. I educated my boyfriend on purchasing spa packages and we won’t be purchasing Six Degree Marketing products (who the certificate is through) any more.
