Great place for music, good blues band here right now excellent sounds. Name is Shelly Phelps. Food is bar bites but very good, they have an extensive cocktail list and some good wines. Well worth the visit, easy to get hooked on the place.

Went on NYE, wasn’t very crowded but we waited probably fifteen minutes for two cocktails, and we were the only order the bartender was working on. When they were handed to us, she took our money($ 21, so above average prices for small cocktails) and immediately began to take another order-we had to yell her down to find out which was which. We tried the Santa’s Lap and Detour off of their menu. and they were both horrendous. The Detour was supposed to have pineapple juice in it, of which I tasted none. Both drinks were so terrible, in fact, that we put our $ 21 worth of full cocktails down and walked out. A first in all my years of drinking… and I’m 26!

I came across NOIR on the afternoon of its grande opening, as I was in the Film Row District on a work assignment. I had a great conversation with owners George and Teresa Adams and learned not only about the bistro, but also about the film screenings, live music and performing arts they are bringing to their space. After our chat, I had some time to settle into one of NOIR’s ultra comfy purple booths and catch up on some emails(yes, they have WIFI!). The large windows, white linens and unique lanterns create a classy-eclectic, welcoming feel. George promptly brought me a menu, and he immediately had me at the Butternut Kicker(soup) and Fall Harvest salad. Baby kale, brussels sprout leaves with pumpkin vinaigrette, blue cheese, sliced pear and candied walnuts… I was in love. Tiffany, my waitress, was very friendly and timely, I ordered while anticipating my lunch with excitement. Tiffany also brought some well-seasoned popcorn to munch on during my wait, which I thoughts was a really clever addition, spinning of the film and theater theme. My meal arrived quickly, and I was crossing my fingers it tasted as good as it looked, it was colorful and fresh. I took a bite of my soup, then salad… pure SUCCESS! Everything was as flavorful and wonderful as I wanted it to be, both dishes actually exceeded my expectations. There was a side of the softest, most delicious corn bread I have ever tasted. I am so thrilled NOIR is open, Film Row has really needed a spot such as this one – fresh, healthy food options, speciality drinks, supportive of the local arts… this place gets an A+ in my book, and I can’t wait to return!
