I heard about this place from my co-workers. OMG I was pleasantly surprised. I heard the Philly Cheese Steak and the Gyro was to die for! Man were they right! I ordered the gyro, thickest pieces of meat I ever had best Gyro I ever had. I’m a big boy and couldn’t finish the sandwich. It was really nice little quaint place very clean and nice staff. I was very happy with it! Going back tonight for the Philly Cheese Steak! However, I will say this a plus for them. They cook everything fresh from the beginning, so order in advance unless your dining in and don’t mind 15 mins while they prepare everything fresh!

I fell in love with the name of this place, the exterior, and just the old school kitschy vibe. There is an adorable old diner style counter off to one side, but it seems to be there more for decoration and storage than actual seating. I ordered the coney with chips. They use those bright pink hot dogs, not the spicy ones, just regular hotdogs that seem to have some sort of red dye in them. I was not a fan of the flavor or the texture of the hotdog, maybe these bright pink ones are a regional thing, but it tasted very bland to me. There was no pop or casing on the tube sausage either. Admittedly, I am a hotdog snob, and these just didn’t do it for me. The Coney sauce was bland and the shredded cheddar was a nice sprinkle, but not very tasty either. I added a little bit of salt but it didn’t do much. The man who took my order was very nice, and the space itself is really cool, it shows a lot of promise as a kick ass local diner. Just wish the food were a bit more solid. I’m eager to try out the other hotdog joints in the area.

Best dog in town. Off the beaten path but worth the effort. If you miss Coit’s, head here. Great staff. Super friendly. Great value.

The Mighty Dog was almost as good as the hot dogs they use to serve at Coit’s, The meat is Schwab’s as is the chili. I ordered a Jumbo cheeseburger for my husband, and he said it was very good. I also ordered the fried zucchini, it was decent, but not memorable. For some reason I thought the zucchini might be served as sticks, but it was the frozen, round variety, so OK. I like this place and plan on returning for a Mighty Dog. I also would like to try the Jumbo cheeseburger as it smelled wonderful.

First trip here and was very pleased. Friendly cashier/server, reviewed everything on the menu with me, then gave me a copy for when I return. I got the mighty dog, it was good. Not my favorite hot dog ever, but good and closer to where live. They have lots of yummy sounding sides and decent prices. Definitely will be going back.

Let me preface this review with the fact that I worked at Coit’s for four years and made my share of root beer, hot dogs and onion rings, among other things. But this place doesn’t deep fry, so I’m just going to compare hot dogs and root beer. For those of us who desperately miss Coit’s, this place is a decent substitute. They serve Schwab’s hot dogs and chili, though not prepared in the same exact way as Coit’s, are decent enough. The dogs are in a water bath instead of steamed and the chili is about on target… meaning it has almost the right amount of grease! The buns don’t appear steamed, but still good enough. They serve Weber’s Root Beer(from Tulsa) and it’s real close to what Coit’s used to serve. Actually, Coit’s started out serving Weber’s wayyyyy back when they just had a drive-in and walk up window on South Western. Also, no frosted mugs here, the root beer is served in a long necked bottle, even still, go ahead and indulge in the root beer. While no Coit’s, it’s worth the trip to try and relieve the past, even if for only a few minutes. The décor is decent enough, trying to portray that nostalgic atmosphere. The newness is apparant and the radio played a bit too loud… but give it a try.

I stopped in at 5:50pm today and they told me they had enough for one hot dog. So I left. If you close at 6pm you need to serve until 6 or say you close @. 5:50. I won’t be back.
