Sadly when my husband and I arrived for a very late(2:30 pm) lunch on a Sunday the hostess informed us that they were out of almost everything except a few appetizers. It takes so long to prepare their food that once they were out, well there wasn’t much to do about it. We almost turned away to come back another day, but then we saw a few appetizers that sounded divine and decided to stay and try two or three. Boy am I glad we did! We ordered the sushi, fennel salad, and the dumplings. I can’t even say which one was my favorite as they were all amazing. The sushi was surprisingly non-coconuty since instead of rice they were rolled with shredded coconut. And the spicy cashew cream sauce they drizzled on top of it… well I could just eat that plain by itself! The dumplings were divine, and almost had a meaty texture to them with the way they chopped the nuts up. Totally adored them. The fennel salad had to be the most impressive dish though if for nothing else than the amazingly well thought out flavor combinations(orange, fennel, crispy olives, and an amazing berry reduction). I already bought another coupon for here, and I can’t wait to come back!

Originally operating under the name ‘105 Degrees’, the restaurant was regrettably forced to change their name in June of 2011 after countless calls from local tween girls mistaking them for a 90’s boy band. Some would argue that the name ‘Matthew Kenney’ is not much of an improvement, sounding instead more like a country western singer/songwriter than an actual restaurant. Still, if you were to be wrongfully accused of being a 98 Degrees cover band as opposed to Kenny Chesney’s long lost cousin, I think we can all agree that the latter is the the(slightly) lesser of two evils, especially in Oklahoma — I mean hell, look at the success of Toby Keith’s restaurant… sigh. Despite the name change, the philosophy of Matthew Kenney has remained the same: vegan fare cooked to no more than 105 degrees so as to retain all of the nutritional value. Not a fan of rabbit food you say? No worries here. Matthew Kenney offers up their own creative versions of dishes like lasagna, tacos, curry, and even pizza, among others. True, lasagna and pizza typically contain meats and cheeses and therefor cannot be considered typical vegan fare, but therein lies the beauty of Matthew Kenney: you are never really eating exactly what you think you are eating. Matthew Kenney uses vegan ingredients to recreate the taste and texture of non-vegan favorites. These recreations can either be a hit or miss, but based on the dishes that I’ve tried, they’ve got a pretty solid batting average. First off, their presentation is beautiful, you really have to appreciate the amount of detail that goes into each and every dish. Throughout the entire meal, you’ll feel as though you’re eating a piece of art, it’s amazing really. And yet as eye catching as these dishes are, the flavor profiles are just as impressive. For starters, the cheese platter is absolutely nuts. Literally. There are no dairy products used, so he recreates different cheeses from various nuts, and it’s all friggin’ delicious. There was a cumin infused ‘cheese’(my personal fav.) as well as a cheddar and one or two others that escape my mind — all equally as surprising and tasty. The ‘cheeses’ were accompanied by two different home made crackers, pickled beets, cauliflower, poached pears, and spreads of honey, grain mustard, and fig. Doesn’t sound like much, but the combination and depth of flavors are superb. I’m not even a fan of pears, but those poached pears are something else. The lasagna is delicious. The sun dried tomato marinara can be slightly overpowering, but the combination of light macadamia nut ricotta and the delicious pistachio pesto really round the entire dish out. The butternut ravioli is extremely delicate, the ‘pasta’ is paper thin and absolutely melts in your mouth to let the sweet butternut squash filling shine through. The tomato paper was intriguing as well, amazing that they could infuse such a pure tomato flavor into something as thin as paper; melts on your tongue like one of those breath strips. Mmmm, tomato flavored breath strips. Nom nom nom. What? Where was I? Ah yes, the pizza trio was another favorite of ours: again, you don’t really know exactly what you are eating, but you get three different mini pizzas and all have very unique flavor profiles and textures. The white fettuccine and the shiitake dragon roll were not quite as amazing as the other dishes, hard to achieve the texture of rice and pasta by only using raw coconut or zucchini strands — still interesting and impressive nevertheless. If for nothing else, I recommend that you try this restaurant for their fresh smoothies, juices and desserts, you really can’t go wrong there. The tiramisu is one of the best that I’ve ever had, anywhere, vegan or not. Light, delicate, and just the right amount of sweet with a strong hint of espresso to awaken your taste buds… oh why does it have to end? Now, obviously it would not be wise to dine here if you were craving a chicken fried steak or a turducken, per say. However, if you are interested in a healthier eating alternative and are open to new culinary experiences, Matthew Kenney provides a true adventure for your palette. One last thing to note: last time we were there, we noticed two well-dressed gentlemen sitting at the table next to us. We didn’t think much of it until we saw a lady go up to one of them and ask him to sign a copy of her book. Well, turns out one of the men was none other than Matthew Kenney himself. The man looks phenomenal for his age — you wouldn’t guess a day over 30, and yet he’s almost 50(Googled it). Now I’m certainly not promoting a vegan /raw lifestyle by any means, but he’s obviously figured something out(or located the fountain of youth). All in all, it’s never a bad idea to try to make healthier choices occasionally, especially considering it can be as easy as trying some of the amazing cuisine that Matthew Kenney has to offer.

Absolutely loved it here. Even for those who are completely unfamiliar with vegan/vegetarian cuisine, the staff is very helpful and you will be able to find something perfect for you. Awesome dessert menu and great atmosphere!

Food: I thought almost all the food was delicious, however the salad was a bit boring and while the green curry was incredibly healthy and low calorie it could stand to be kicked up a notch.(¾ star) Drinks: Both martinis were delicious. The wine was reasonably priced. Their coffee is awful!(¾ star) Service: The waitress was very nice and friendly, however you could tell that she was new. She messed up our salad order and didn’t offer us dessert before the kitchen closed.(¾ star) Atmosphere: Very nice atmosphere. It’s not trying to be something its not. Calm and relaxing yet modern and fun.(1 star) Value: I used a groupon which made this extremely affordable. I think for what you are getting the food and drinks may be $ 1 – 2 overpriced, but all and all pretty spot on.(¾ star)

Amazing food! Well worth the drive. This competes with Elizabeth’s Gone Raw in Washington, DC… And you can actually choose what you want instead of a set menu. Get the Matcha-tini and the miso soup!

I looked forward to eating here for a long time, and now that I have, I must say I am not looking forward to reviewing it. Everything was very good. Except the food. All the nice décor, dedicated service and intriguing menu descriptions in the world mean nothing if the food can’t back it up. Our server was eager to help, but should have been way more familiar with the menu before they turned him loose on the floor. For instance, my GF and I split the frisee salad to start. The menu states: Frisee– shaved fennel, crispy olives, lemon oil, goldenberry reduction. The salad was the highlight of the meal, by the way, but here’s what it really consists of, and this is what the waiter should be able to say fluidly–«A bed of frisee,(also called chicory, or curly endive) with shaved fennel, crispy olives, mandarin orange, sliced chioga beets, and some sort of house granola or seedy thing, dressed in lemon oil and goldenberry reduction.» Depressing side note: Neither my GF or I could locate or identify the crispy olives… I don’t envy the server’s jobs at Matthew Kenney, trying to sell raw vegan to Okies. You might as well be selling surfboards, but if you hope to stand a chance, you really need to know your stuff from a culinary standpoint, not just tell me what each ingredients real world counterpart is. Which brings me to the philosophical extemporaneous section of this review… You can do two things with vegan food. You can prepare and combine vegan ingredients to make savory vegan dishes, or you can mimic omnivorous dishes in a vegan preparation. I’ve had it both ways and it is amazing to see what can be done with some skill and some veggies, but I just don’t feel the OKC location has the handle on either. Maybe there are some great items and both of us just got weak entrees when we went? I don’t know why I feel guilty reporting this or insist on giving Matthew Kenney this benefit of the doubt… I guess I just wanted to like it so badly. I wanted to like it the way I do Leaf Cuisine in L.A.- they have items like a walnut croquette that willingly takes the place of meat in a wrap, and a marinara sauce that makes you wonder how they did it without cooking it… She had the mushroom tempeh for her forgettable birthday dinner, and was sophisticated enough to be able to give it this compliment, «If you get a little bit of each ingredient in your bite, its pretty good.» She was right. If you tasted them alone, however, I thought they were all pretty terrible. The mushroom tempeh tasted not unlike the bottom of a bag of boomers, the green beans, although french cut, were still raw and unseasoned… And the kohlrabi mash… Oh the kohlrabi mash… Let me ask you 2 questions. 1) Even if you can mash a raw vegetable and it looks like mashed potatoes should you serve it in place of potatoes if it is sweet and chalky and pretty much the worst thing I’ve tasted since I ate poi in Hawaii? 2) Hello why can’t you just use a potato? I had the white fettuccine, with it’s cashew«alfredo». Please… I’ve had cashew cream sauce and this is not it. What I had wasn’t even sauce, much less creamy. My dish was literally a pile of some sort of fibrous grated room temperature vegetable(again, not mentioned on the menu) with some sort of coconut bacon(a.k.a. coconut thats brown), capers(thank heavens they can’t mess these up), and crushed Brazil nuts that were supposed to resemble or replace parmesan(it doesn’t), and with almost no sign of sauce, the capers and nut hunks rolled right off the«noodles» and had little chance of staying on my fork long enough to get them in my mouth. It tasted way too much like Chick-fil-A’s carrot raisin salad for me to enjoy eating a whole plate of it and paying $ 16. We skipped dessert. I told her it was because we could play it safe and grab birthday dessert somewhere else. Really I was just mortified to stick around and see Matthew Kenney’s take on tiramisu. If you are a meat eater and you have decided to go out on a limb and try raw food and have eaten at Matthew Kenney’s and thought it was horrible PLEASE do not go through the rest of the days of your life thinking all raw food is gross. It’s not. There are some unbelievable raw restaurants in the cities of this great nation, I just don’t think this is one of them.

I always look forward to my comfort food revisited when I come back to my hometown for visits, but after 20 some years in San Francisco, CA I was also excited to visit this restaurant and called ahead to insure I wouldn’t miss it during the holiday weekend. Really fantastic cuisine! All three dishes we had were well thought and wow, the flavors spot on. The miss, my 8 year old son didn’t go for the miso soup and I thought it did lack umami for my palate. ****** Five stars for the Tostada, Mezze and a rolled dish of some sort and the lovely pears rolled in hazelnuts. I worked as a chef at Le Caveau one of OKC’s first French restaurants the 1980’s and we always had to have a steak on the menu. I hope OKC can continue to support this restaurant and grow with the nation’s movement toward healthy and delicious food. Please a kids menu… Great prices! Hope we will visit this resturant on our next trip to OKC.

Super tasty good!!! Minus one star for having the apple cider beignets on the menu, but no longer serving it due to the yucky recipe. I LOVE beignets so it was a huge bummer to me. My boyfriend and I are testing the waters and are intrigued by this raw food diet. I’ve heard of it before but never in a million years thought it could taste this good! I adore Classen Curve and have passed by Matthew Kenney a ton of times, never thinking to try it because my boyfriend is a poor PHD student and I’m the lonely girl. They had a Groupon out so I decided to snatch it up! We ordered the following: –Salad with coconut bacon, dehydrated apples, avocado, and creamy yummy herb dressing. –Pine Pesto Lasagna –Miso dashi soup. Loved it all! Everything is simple and pretty, but being so pretty did not take away from the overall taste. Our salad came out first and I am really picky about salad. I don’t know why, but I blame it on my mom! They left the vein portion of the romaine lettuce in our plate. Most foo foo places don’t do that and my mom always takes that part out when she makes her salads so I’ve been really spoiled over the years. The coconut bacon tasted over poweringly(a Joyism) salty and I guess they do that to mimic the flavor of bacon. The apples were yummy and they give you a half of avocado, which is nice! The dressing was my fav!!! It coated every piece of lettuce and was almost like ranch dressing but less dense. Next was the soup. Love the mushrooms because there the soup was swimming with them! The consistency of the liquid broth was smooth not broth like and It tasted more like mushrooms then miso. Last but not least was our beautiful plate of Lasagna. Heaven to betsey this was pure ecstasy! Layers of nut cheese topped over pesto topped with super thin slices of cucumber and tomato basil with a drizzles of EVOO. Holly mother… It was soooo goooooood! My boyfriend and I left satisfied and not overly full. Next time I would like to try their desert and Lavender Lemonade. I can’t say that we both will be regulars because the price point is not within our budget, but I would love to take my friends to the Santa Monica location when I’m back in LA. Worth every penny…

After eating at Matthew Kenney, I was pleasantly surprised. The food was fresh, flavorful, and fantastic! I ordered the«cheesy» kale chips, green juice, Thai green smoothie, heirloom tomato lasagna, and the hazelnut chocolate tart. I am officially addicted to the«cheesy» kale chips. They are light, crispy, and contain no cheese at all. They are actually made with a cashew nut, bell pepper, & nutritional yeast cheese. These are definitely my new favorite snack! You can even purchase them by the bag here. I enjoyed both the green juice and the Thai green smoothie. The smoothie had a very small kick to it as it contains mango, young coconut water, Thai chili, spirulina, and almond milk. It was an interesting combination of flavors and now my new favorite smoothie. They were a bit pricey — $ 7 for the juice and $ 8 for the smoothie… but the quality of the ingredients make it well worth it the price. The heirloom tomato lasagna was so tasty. The«noodles» were actually layers of zucchini and this whole dish was cold and reminded me of a salad. It’s very delicious. Last but certainly not least, I fell in love with the hazelnut chocolate tart. It was light, not too sweet, and oh so good. Complete guilt-free decadence.

Finally got the opportunity to eat here — being a vegetarian for over a decade, you would think I would have made it back when it was 105(?) Degrees, but better late than never. I’ll cut right to the chase: Food = Quite tasty! Had the eggplant chips and hummus, and corn ravioli. Ravioli was good; eggplant chips were phenomenal! As odd as it may sound, they were exactly the«fix» I needed to satisfy my «jerky» craving — baked, long strips of eggplant that tasted like they were marinated in Terriyaki sauce — SOOOO yummy! If they sold them by the bag, I’d probably go broke. Atmosphere = Posh-like(everything felt upscale except for the fabric on the chairs — magenta and worn(like a 90’s Denny’s). They do have a lovely patio and the weather is just about right to be able to truly enjoy it Drinks = Fantastic! Had the«Collins on the Curb» cocktail = vodka, FRESH-squeezed lemons and agave Service = Good(drinks were slow to come out, but the poor bartender DID have to hand-squeeze like 3 or 4 lemons…) Price = Depends on your expectations. Note: this is one of those places where serving sizes are SMALL(ex. 4 raviolis for $ 12). I spent $ 43 for my entrée, app, and 2 cocktails — Add in tip, and the cost was $ 52. If I could, I’d give them 3 ½ stars — as it is, I had to go with 3 due to the fact I was still hungry when I got home. Would HIGHLY recommend this place to gather with friends to drink and catch-up!

I’m obsessed. I truly have no idea how I’ve missed this, but it was ah-MAH-zing. We sat outside, and even though it had been a really hot day, we sat outside and with the shade and the breeze, it was great. We started with the dragon roll, which was outstanding. I also had the Prettier in Pink cocktail — so good and really refreshing with bubbles, sake, and a blend of apple, pineapple and strawberry juices. I ordered the hearts of romaine with pine nut cheese and Shitake with a caesar dressing. It was wonderful if a tiny bit salty(but I still basically licked my plate so no complaints). My lovely dining companions had the heirloom tomato lasagne with pistachio pesto and pine nut ricotta. I want to go back and have this right now. It was so good and intend to go back while it is still on the menu. We had the macadamia pastry with raspberry mousse. I really did lick the plate on that one. Brett was our waiter and this guy is great — ask for him if you can. He took great care of us and I really like his style of waiting, lots of water refills and we always had everything we needed but he never once interrupted, or made us feel rushed. I also realized later that I think we may have stayed almost an hour(sorry!) after they had closed, but Brett never told us! Again, I’m not really sure what my deal was — what has kept me from coming here? The space is beautiful, and the food is wonderful. I think maybe I just assumed I wouldn’t like the food because I love a good cheeseburger? Well that’s just about the stupidest thing ever. Maybe I didn’t think I was cool enough? Whatever. It was truly wonderful and I enjoyed every moment. If you haven’t been, you’re missing it!

For those who have never dined at a raw restaurant before, expect a completely different kind of eating experience. When you order vegetarian or vegan options at conventional restaurants, you often just get grilled veggies substituted in their standard dishes. This is largely true also for vegetarian restaurants, where they substitute tofu for meat, but otherwise the dishes are very similar. Raw restaurants may sometimes try to mimic conventional dishes so that the first-time diner will find some familiar things on the menu, but they excel at preparing foods that are not a raw version of something you already know. A good raw restaurant can prepare some of the most incredible, delicious, and unique tastes you’ll ever have. Matthew Kenney OKC is not only a good raw restaurant, it is a quantum leap beyond anything else out there, cooked, vegetarian, or raw. The dishes prepared here are beautiful works of art that are as delicious as they are beautiful. Simple, yet decidedly complex in preparation(this is not stuff you can fix at home) and marvelously presented, each item on the menu is incredible. Even the juices and smoothies are nothing like you’d get at a juice bar. «Innovative» is not a term I often use to describe food, but at Matthew Kenney you’ll find yourself thinking that about nearly each dish. The desserts at Matthew Kenney need a special mention. In conventional restaurants I usually skip dessert because either the food was already so heavy and laden, or the taste just hasn’t been good enough in past experiences to justify the calories. At Matthew Kenney, you’ll want to have dessert. In fact, I bet once you’ve had one, you’ll want to have everything else on the dessert menu. They are that good. Incredibly delicious. The physical restaurant itself, like the rest of the open-air mall it is within, is stunningly gorgeous. The ultra modernist Mies van der Rohe-like structure stands apart from the rest of OKC as did the master’s works to the industrial-era tenements of Berlin. It is a fitting setting for the masterful cuisine you’ll have inside. I can’t wait until I get back to OKC to eat here again.

The food here is absolutely delicious! Tortellini was great and I liked the dragon sushi roll. A friend was introducing me to the raw foods scene and I was extremely impressed with the culinary skill involved in preparing the menu items, especially considering the delicious results. Portions are ridiculously small for the price. Normally, I don’t gripe about price – it’s stated on the menu, no big deal. But when somebody has to order 2 entrees to be marginally satisfied, that’s silly. The server even told us they had recently made the tiramisu portion smaller(think size of a ramekin) and it wasn’t quite enough to enjoy. My guess is they’re not doing well, judging in part by the nearly empty restaurant during dinner.

Thanks to Groupon, this was my first time at a vegetarian restaurant and first time at a «raw» restaurant. We started off with the tree nut cheese appetizer, which was very good. There were three«cheeses»(Thai/curry, herb and some other creamy one, all made without dairy), along with a version of flat bread, raw almonds and thinly-sliced red apples. While all were good, the curry one was absolutely amazing and probably my favorite part of the entire meal. We managed to clean our plate, despite the awkwardness of figuring out how to eat it. I also had a Bloody Mary made with sun-dried tomatoes around this point, and it was pretty good, but a touch too sour and served in a very small glass. I didn’t have another. Next, we tried their version of a Cobb salad, with candied pecans, avocados, seven-herb«ranch» dressing sun-dried tomatoes and beets(I think). The waiter went ahead and split our salad into separate plates, which was a nice touch. My wife really loved it and said she«would give them five stars right now, even before the entrée.» And while I agreed that the experience was no doubt five stars up until that point, I think the entrees were a big part of bringing the whole visit to just under four-and-a-half stars. First, my wife’s spinach tortellini dish was good, but very salty. And my curried kelp noodle dish had great texture, but needed more substance and more curry flavor. Also, they were very, very small for entrees. My wife also got a blended chocolate/Thai chili/banana drink for dessert, which was pretty dang good, but we later regretted we didn’t decide to get a «real» dessert. The service, on the other hand, couldn’t have been better. Absolutely amazing. Our waiter was very, very friendly and all our dishes were served quickly. It’s also genius how they can accomplish so many tasty dishes without meat or cooking it. In the end, it’s a place I highly recommend and am glad I tried, but the portions don’t really justify the prices.(I was hungry again two hours after our meal.) I’d definitely go again, but only on a splurge and if I was in the area or had a coupon.

Think Meg Ryan in When Harry Met Sally: yes, Yes, YES! Reminds me of a spot I drove by in Orange County, California. I need to be taken on a dozen or more dates here. Pronto. Ambiance is a +10. In a very swanky, open-air area. Shiny grey silver black everywhere, the stores face a narrow parking lot, away from the outside world. I need to go back here very soon. Oh I just had a delightful smoothie there and an appetizer. But who cares about the food if you’ve got the glory? YES!

The food in this place is way, way overrated. Seriously. And I’ve eaten at enough vegetarian and vegan places to know. So why a 3 rating? I sat at the bar and was given great service by the bartender. I mean, great service. First off, this place is really hip. I was not expecting this as I showed up in shorts and a t-shirt. But they didn’t turn me away so that’s cool. Just be forewarned that this place is pretty chic. I ordered, upon recommendation, the avocado dragon roll and the bento. While waiting I chatted with the bartender and we got to know each other pretty well. He’s half-korean and I told him I spent a year there when I was in the Army. We talked a lot about Seoul. With this, throughout the evening, he gave me a free shot of tequila, left over remains of mixed drinks he made for other customers and even gave me a glass of some health drink that had a really odd smell-almost like fish sauce but turned out to be pretty good. Honestly, some of the best service I ever got at a bar and I tipped him big for it. So sit at the bar if you can. Now for the food. The rolls were crazy disappointing. A 3 at best. Actually, with the price, a 2, 2 ½. I’ve definitely had better vegetarian avocado rolls in a real sushi restaurant. And my stomach barely felt them. Barely. Whatever, I’m thinking I’m about to get a bento meal so this should do it. I mean bento is traditional this decent sized meal with rice and 2 – 3 other things served with it. A bento lunchbox, that’s what everyone gets, right? My bento plate comes and it’s three things the size of sushi pieces on the plate. I almost ask whether I got the wrong thing and I look at the menu again. Seriously? How much am I paying for this? I bite in and set aside my disappointment and try it out. After all, you get small servings in a molecular restaurant all the time but it all tastes pretty fantastic. Yeah, this didn’t happen. Cripes, food was a 3 at best. Oh wait, let’s look at the price again. Ok, a 2 ½. Normally at this point I’m so ready to leave a joint like this. But the bartender and I have such a good time talking that I stay a little longer and he recommends a dessert. I figure at this point it’s like playing Russian Roulette as I’ve got nothing else left to lose. So I try the blueberry lavender tart. This, actually turns out to be not bad. Like a 3. Sad, when your dessert is the only good thing you swallow all meal. So I will definitely never come back here ever again to have food. Now to have a drink? Sure, if you’re headed here for the bar and drinks, give me a call.

I land in OK City’s airport after a long and stressful day of flying and was hungry for early dinner before heading down south to Ardmore. Pulled up Unilocal on my BB as I got out of the gate and looked for«vegetarian». MKOKC was the first listing AND the highest rated. Grabbed my rental car and headed straight there(Thifty’s Garmin GPS sucks btw, it got me lost because it didn’t recognize the address so I had to pull out Google Maps on my BB). Anyway, I finally find this place and was confused at its location. It felt more like a modern office park than storefronts of luxurious eyeglasses, yoga studios and other trappings of urban mobility transplanted from NYC to where farms should reside. But, once I found where it was, I walked it and was greeted by the design ethos of West Elm. I had the strangest sensation that I was walking though reality into a catalog coming to life(movie like). The place was empty(I was there around 4) and it was HOT outside. Like 100 degrees. Walked in and was relieved. The modernity was comforting and on those nights when its cooler, I would love to be outside in their patio(tastefully done). As I was coming to OK for business and didn’t come with anyone, I sat at the bar and spoke with the friendly bartender and the manager. But to the food… I started with lavender lemonade. Perfect to combat the heat. Lemonade is fine, but infused with flowers, Refreshing. Then the Avocado dragon roll(which has heirloom root veg, smoked shittake, and pickled ginger ponzu). Yum. But not mouth exploring new territories, more like a great comfort food. Now to the Lasagna, on recommendation of other Unilocalers. They had the Summer lasagna on the menu when I went. It consisted of Macadamia ricotta, sun cured tomato marina, and pistachio pesto. Now this is what I highly recommend and what I thoroughly savored. The marscopone on the top tasted sweet and complimented the pistachio pesto perfectly. After eating half, I regretted getting the Dragon Roll. I really wanted to finish this right and there, but alas, my stomach exceeded capacity and I had to take it to go. I did have it for lunch the next day, but some of the magic was gone. Upon leaving, I had wished I was able to share the food with someone. I’m sure there aren’t many of these places in OK City, let alone in OK, so I highly suggest you go here and experience raw food. I don’t believe in all their(and many other raw places like Cousins IV in Chicago) claims about detox and like, but their food made fresh does leave you system satisfied and slightly confused that a meal can be that healthy and«clean.» .

My first night in Oklahoma City, known for it’s BBQ, and I decided to check out 105degrees, a raw/vegan restaurant. ;o) I ordered the kale chips, Cesar salad, the butternut ravioli and the blood orange cheesecake. The kale chips were a great start to my dinner. The Cesar salad with the nutty croutons, made from what I’m assuming are nuts and veggie pulp, were good. I could have done without it, though, since my main dish had a salad, as well. My main dish — the ravioli– was EXCELLENT! Slightly sweet, nutty and creamy. The chef did a wonderful job and pulling all of that together. And what’s up with that sauce? Yum! The lemon dressing on the spinach salad was a nice compliment, to my dish. As for dessert, the blood orange cheesecake was more like ice cream. The only indication that you were having blood orange was in the sauce that was swirled into the dessert and at the bottom of the plate. It would have been nice to see some blood orange slices, instead of regular ones. It was also hard to dig into. I’ve been to several raw/vegan spots. This was one of my better experiences, even if dinner for one cost me almost $ 50. I get what this restaurant is trying to do, with it’s sleek image and upscale menu. Wish there were more folks who could appreciate it. You’d definitely do well in California. Best of luck, 105degrees! If I ever did turn into a full raw/vegan extraordinaire, this is how I’d roll.

I was rather impressed with the place on a recent visit to see friends in one of my former cities. 105 Degrees is located in a trendy cool area with a variety of other shops and fun restaurants. I am surprised such a restaurant exists in OKCity, as when I lived in Oklahoma, it was very hard to find anything vegetarian-or-vegan-like. My friend had found a Living Social deal that made the restaurant even more fun, knowing we each had $ 50 to spend after only purchasing the gift certificates for $ 25. Our waiters were very attentive and somewhat friendly. The open kitchen was a cool trendy touch. The décor is very modern and clean. I ordered the phở and hummus plate. I would not order the phở again, since the flavor was not that great. However, the hummus and toubouli-type salad and falafel were delicious. My friend ordered the raw lasagna type of meal and loved it. Even my friend who had seemingly complained on her Facebook status about having to go to a raw restaurant ordered the sushi and the«mashed potatoes»(made from macademia nuts) and actually enjoyed all of her food. For dessert, we all ordered some sort of vanilla chocolate cake with chocolate sauce that was very tasty. The wine selection was good too, although they did not have Chianti, my favorite. I will definitely ask my friends to go back here on my next visit!
